The role:

Manage and support the security services on the operation through guiding and advising management on intelligence and legal requirements and implementing effective security measures. Responsible to provide group security policy development, reviews, and physical security risks & threat assessments. Provide leadership on Seriti Compliance Framework, establish compliance capability and reporting thus ensuring full compliance with organizational policies, standards & procedures and preventing breaches of any applicable legislation. Provide assurance about group wide security legal compliance to regulation including legislation and Act, e.g. (PSIRA, Firearms Control Act, Amended Criminal Procedures Act and Law of Evidence, etc.). The role is responsible to conduct security and public liability audits, as well as high-risk audits to ensure legal compliance and minimise the company’s risk or public liability – overseeing the management of protection services and the external security procured new service providers.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Ensure effective stakeholder management through identifying potential conflict situations, take pro-active action and minimise implication
  • Responsible for ensuring the development, implementation, and management of the Seriti asset protection and intelligence strategy.
  • Managerial Authority to ensure adequate protection of Seriti assets against theft and the influence of fraud through advising management on asset and fraud protection and proactively dealing with / managing any potential threat to company assets
  • Review crime trends and identify high risk issues
  • Providing oversight and technical guidance on Technology solutions and risk reviews.
  • Remaining current with the legislative changes and the technology that impacts the Security services environment
  • Develop, implement, and monitor processes to ensure a safe and secure working environment and optimize asset and resource protection
  • Provide investigative support to the business units
  • Identifying, analysing, and interpreting strategic departmental KPI’s, timely identifying and informing management of potential security risks and recommending corrective action
  • Managerial and Direct Responsibility to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the South African Police Service
  • Oversee, and control departmental projects so that spending is in line with Seriti’s requirements through operational specifications as well as ensuring cost saving and the minimisation of waste
  • Managerial and Advisory Authority to Effective People management, ensuring that roles are well defined and clarified and that competencies and learning paths are developed to human capacity and capability
  • Managerial Authority to ensure effective public policing & protest protocol management
  • Identify security and investigation needs by monitoring security indicators and trends
  • Identify and implement asset optimisation initiatives for the department

Requirements:

  • Diploma / Degree in Protection / Forensic Services
  • Registered with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) Grade A or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years’ service in a managerial position and Investigations
  • Certified capable to carry a firearm by SAPS
  • Knowledge of forensic auditing and forensic systems and processes
  • Knowledge of security management
  • Experience in conducting security and public liability audits
  • Competent in protection services systems and procedures used in the organisation (e.g. buying, tendering, and adjudicating procedures)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Seriti Code of Conduct, policies and procedures
  • Expert knowledge in security systems and processes
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including: Criminal Procedures Act, Statute Law, Security Officers Act, Law of Evidence Mine Health and Safety Act & Labour Law
  • Knowledge of suspect pre-employment and company screening
  • Ability to conduct criminal investigations and give evidence in court, conduct white collar crime investigations, trace, and apprehend suspects, manage dockets and to handle informers
  • Previous involvement in court cases and providing evidence in court
  • Knowledge of mining industry and applicable legislation – Criminal Procedure/ Amendment Acts, Harmful Business Practices Act, International Co-Operation in Criminal Matters Act, Prevention of Organised Crime Act, Proceeds of Crime Act, Promotion of Access to Information Act & Rationalisation of Corporate Laws Act
  • Contract and contractor management experience
  • Skilled in the following areas: organisational, analytical, and problem-solving, leadership and managerial, stakeholder engagement and management, advanced written and verbal communication, including report writing skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Colliery Administration Procedure Manual (CAPM)
  • Knowledge of protection services systems and procedures
  • Safety & Risk Management courses
  • Change management experience
  • Computer literacy
  • Valid driver’s license
  • In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness

The role:

The Mining Activity Engineer reports to the Section Manager Planning.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Compiling designs, detailed plans and short-term schedules for major mining activities on the mine
  • Compiling of weekly/monthly/quarterly and annual reconciliations as part of compliance to plan reporting
  • Supply required information for weekly marketing and management plans
  • Assist in compiling weekly review (planning) meetings presentation(s), as well as the monthly planning meeting
  • Liaising with other Activity Engineers with regards to integration of mine plans
  • Liaising with various other departments including, but not limited, Survey, Geology, Environmental, Mining, Metallurgy and Engineering
  • Assist with annual budget/LOM process

Requirements:

Qualification:

  • National Diploma/Degree in Mining Engineering with MO Certificate OR
  • Relevant underground mining qualifications (MO Certificate advantageous) WITH recognition and recommendation for prior learning / experience

Experience:

  • Minimum 6 years’ experience with either; 2 years appointed as a Shiftboss in a relevant mining production environment OR 2 years relevant experience as Planning Officer
  • Experience with Mine Planning software including, but not limited to Deswik, XPAC, 3D-dig, Microstation, Talpac, Dragsim
  • Knowledge of underground mining activities
  • An appreciation of legislation relating to the mining industry, as well as applicable procedures
  • Ability to work under pressure and variable workload
  • Be willing and able to work overtime and over weekends if and when the requirement arises
  • Good analytical capabilities
  • Good communication (verbal and written) skills
  • A high regard for safety
  • Computer literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft Office package (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

The role:

The role is responsible for monitoring the activities performed on implementation projects to ensure the safe and successful completion of projects including the coordination of all implementation activities for all projects so that legal requirements relating to implementation are upheld. Take on the responsibility of ensuring that the workmanship, quality and safety compliance by all contractors and stakeholders of capital and stay in business projects is in accordance with the required Seriti standards, time frames, and budget.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Perform inspections on contractor equipment so that all meets safety standards
  • Perform regular plan task observations on site alteration work completed to assess compliance and act on non-compliance
  • Manage contractor activities on sites and coordinate them and their staff accordingly
  • Assist in regular audits on construction projects to assess compliance and act on non-compliance
  • Maintain discipline on-site for all parties involved
  • Monitor contractors activities in accordance with the requirements of the MHSA, ISO 14001, OSHAS 18001, and EMPR
  • Ensure that policies, standards, and procedures are well understood and signed off by contractors
  • Ensure that contractor packs are in place and signed off
  • Provide input into the development of implementation programmes and be well aware of the implementation milestones and activities as per the programme
  • Involved in effectively managing project costs and expenditures
  • Feasability assessments for all project cost increases to be done accurately
  • Contribute to building a cohesive working environment
  • Actively participate in all people performance and development initiatives to ensure the team’s performance meets the required standards
  • Build, support, and maintain healthy diverse internal (peers / team members / managers) as well as external (service providers etc.) relationships and implement remedial actions were required to ensure achievement of organisational goals.
  • Provide relevant and specialised technical support, where required, to peers and colleagues to ensure the achievement of objectives
  • Monitor expenses against budget

Requirements:

  • National N4 Certificate with a recognised Electrical / Mechanical Trade Test or National Electrical / Mechanical Engineering Diploma or Degree
  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant technical experience in the construction or mining industry
  • Extensive experience as an Engineering Foreman in the construction or mining industry
  • A good knowledge of legislation relating to the mining industry, e.g., Mine Health and Safety Act, Environmental Legislation including the Occupational, Health, and Safety Act.
  • Good knowledge of Seriti safety and sustainable development policies, procedures, and standards
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering processes and practices, as well as within the construction discipline
  • An understanding of contracting principles
  • Have good communication skills, verbally and written and teamwork abilities
  • Planning and control abilities
  • Knowledge of project management packages such as Microsoft Projects
  • Valid drivers’ license
  • In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness
