Cape Herb & Spice is looking for a proactive and organized Junior Brand Manager to join our marketing team. This is a chance to work with a creative, dynamic team and support the marketing plans of the spice, tea and gifting brands while gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic marketing environment. This position reports to the Brand Manager, and is currently based in Westlake, Cape Town but will be moving to Montagu Park mid-2027.

Key Functional Areas:
• Social Media Content and Community Management
• Support of primary brand plan execution and full management of secondary brands
• Co-ordination of international tradeshows planning
• Internal marketing events & communication

Roles & Responsibilities:

Social Media Content and Community Management
• Manage various social media platforms and respond to customer enquiries effectively and efficiently with the support of the greater team.
• Liaison between parties to drive execution of monthly plan including brand and influencer collaborations.
• Manage all brand websites and various recipe uploads across the various brands – Cape Herb & Spice, Natural Herbs & Spices, T&Me and Eat Art.

Support of primary brand plan execution and full management of secondary brands
• Assist in execution of Brand & Communication plan for Cape Herb & Spice to highest standard.
• Execute Brand & Communication plan for secondary brands (eat.art and Natural Herbs & Spices)
• Project manage various marketing activities and launches, ensuring work is delivered on time and within budget.
• Build strong relationships with external partners and stakeholders including media, design, digital and PR
• Manage POS material including development & ordering
• Manage the PR stock. Arrange samples, promotional products, regular influencer hampers and gift packs.
• Co-ordinate charity and sponsorship requests
• Provide marketing support to local and overseas brand partners an manage resources.
• Assist the team with various daily admin tasks and projects as needed
• Perform market and pricing surveys
• Calculate Return on Investment for in-store promotions

Co-ordination of International tradeshow planning
• Assist with the development of marketing material for trade shows and sales support using various applications eg. Canva, Powerpoint and/or Photoshop
• Assist with the planning process related to tradeshow attendance from ordering furniture, co-ordinating samples and information flow ensuring accurate and clear communication between all parties to execute at the highest standard on time.

Internal marketing events & communication
• Manage the compilation of the internal Monthly newsletter (using Mailchimp)
• Work with HR to plan and execute company events and activities
• Represent the brand internally – building passion, belief and pride
• Assist with any admin support for the Leadership team as needed.

Education and Required Skills:
• BComm. Marketing degree
• Minimum 3 years marketing and admin experience, brand experience advantageous
• Proficient in MS Office especially PowerPoint and Excel
• Experience in creating content on Canva. Photoshop advantageous
• Strong project management and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels, both written and verbal
• Critical thinking
• Commercial acumen and numeracy skills
• Strong eye for detail
• Driver’s license essential
• Cooking ability will be advantageous

We are looking for a hands-on, system-driven individual with strong leadership skills and a passion for operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate manufacturing and finished goods warehouse activities, including receiving, picking, blending, and dispatch.
  • Supervise warehouse staff to ensure tasks are completed accurately, efficiently, and on time
  • Ensure all inventory transactions are processed accurately in real time
  • Maintain stock accuracy and overall system integrity
  • Prepare for and supervise stock takes
  • Ensure warehouses are well organised, labelled, and compliant with standards
  • Drive adherence to procedures, policies, and factory rules
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and system enhancements
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Food Safety requirements
  • Communicate effectively with internal departments
  • Host internal and external auditors as required

Required Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong people and process management ability

Purpose:

Provide administrative support to Key Accounts Managers and Account Managers in the export markets. This position spans 3 categories – Spice, Tea and Gifting. 

Job Objectives:

  • To set a sound foundation by inputting correct information into SYSPRO and communicating this information to internal departments and customers alike.  Ensure the customers have the required documents in order to start and complete the transaction smoothly.

Key Functional Areas:

  • For all new orders received, load sales order on SYSPRO (within 24 hours of receipt) and communicate this internally once it has been checked by preferably a KAM or AM or another sales team member. Check all prices, quantities, totals, addresses, FDA number, Reference number, GP% etc. Send emails with sales orders attached to customers.
  • Create a customer order template with values, line totals and total order value to be used by customers when ordering to avoid discrepancies. Inclusion of the relevant pallet configurations will also assist in container filling efficiency.
  • Every Monday check open back orders and set to complete.
  • Pricelists to be sent to costing department if any amendments are made to ensure the correct prices are on SYSPRO at all times.
  • Manage the order completion/production procedure for open orders by checking with production, QA for testing and procurement.
  • Keep customer specific tracking sheets up to date.
  • Update the shipping order summary with any new orders for production.
  • Assisting with general administrative duties and customer communication, including basic requests for information, images etc. from customers that need to come from other departments or that is in the ‘Sales Resources’ folder.
  • Assisting with sample room stock take
  • Order monitoring and cross departmental liaison
  • Customer communication
  • Providing general assistance to KAM and AM
  • Office administration and event support

 Education & Required Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Excellent computer skills
  • Strong written communication and ability to convey information clearly and concisely
  • Grade 12 qualification or equivalent

Junior Food Technologist

Job Description

Reporting: Product Developer 

Location: Capricorn Park

Key Functional Areas

  • Creation and/or updating and maintenance of raw material, packaging, in-process and finished product specifications.
  • Review of technical supplier documentation on new suppliers / raw materials required in new developments. Liaise with suppliers on CHS requirements.
  • On-going review of labels and specifications (final product and in process specifications)
  • Assist in conducting factory trials, travel tests and 1st productions on new lines.
  • Review of product labels for legislative and customer compliance. Must have a strong capability to research and interpret legislation for multiple markets e.g., South African, USA, Australia, Europe
  • Technical support to other departments: QA, Operations and Sales alike.
  • Support in the meticulous execution of the Development Process by following procedures.
  • Ensure product detail on internal system, in departments and on shared drive are all accurate and product is as per customer requirement.
  • Support in the execution of shelf-life testing as set out in the shelf-life schedule.
  • Execute technical projects as set out by the NPD Technologist.
  • Executing the Supplier Quality Assurance process.

Required Prior Learning/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree / Advanced Diploma Tertiary qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, Consumer Science.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in an NPD Food Technologist role.

Key Functional Areas:
• Managing and reviewing Cashbook Function and all related queries.
• Process and reconcile a wide variety of financial transactions including preparation of management account journal entries.
• Prepare and/or Review various monthly Income Statement and Balance Sheet Schedules and Reconciliations.
• Update and Reconcile Fixed Asset Register / Wear and Tear Register
