Role Purpose
Partner with business to analyse, monitor and report risks in line with the risk plan.

Requirements
Degree in Risk Management or related field
2-3 years experience in the financial services / insurance industry with exposure to risk management
Experience with Bonitas Medical Aid is advantageous
Relevant industry and technical knowledge
Knowledge of Risk Management, Governance, Regulations and Legislation
Knowledge of quantitative, finance and accounting
Duties & Responsibilities
PROCESS

Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels as well as senior executives and the wider Risk, Legal and Compliance community to removehurdles and obstacles and co-create an empowered and risk-aware culture
Engage with relevant internal stakeholders to advise them on the risk profile and to keep them in the loop of issues that need to be escalated
Lead by example in contributing to a culture that builds rewarding relationships, facilitates feedback and provides exceptional client service
Identify changing client needs and incorporate client feedback into improved business processes and systems
Identify and use influence to drive ongoing efficiencies, e.g. through automation
Apply specific technical and business insights in conducting interviews to review business processes in line with the risk plan
Monitor and flag gaps and weaknesses which could give rise to risk
Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop remedial action plans
Prepare Risk reports highlighting areas of concern, opportunities and anything requiring further investigation
Monitor implementation of remedial actions against deadlines
CLIENT

Build and maintain relationships with clients and internal and external stakeholders
Deliver on service level agreements made with clients and internal and external stakeholders in order to ensure that client expectations are managed
Make recommendations to improve client service and fair treatment of clients within area of responsibility

Develop and maintain productive and collaborative working relationships with peers and stakeholders

Accurately control and process financial information, including financial reporting and analysis, that enables the interpretation of financial information and informs business processes and decision making.

Requirements
BCom Accounting or Financial Management or related degree (Essential)
Registered chartered accountant with South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (Desirable)
3-5 years’ experience in accounting or related (Essential)
Experience with Bonitas Medical Aid is advantageous
Knowledge of applicable legislation landscape
Knowledge of IFRS requirements applicable within area of responsibility
Knowledge of ethical best practice guidelines
Duties & Responsibilities
PROCESS

Review all documentation to ensure that the correct level of authority has authorised the document and raise any exceptions with the relevant stakeholder.
Prepare and review the general ledger journal allocations based on levels of authority and policy.
Control the reimbursement process to ensure that reimbursements are in line with budget and policy parameters.
Prepare and review journals to allocate expenses.
Reconcile the expenses to the financial statement and budget.
Manage the reconciliations of transactions on the bank statement to the General Ledger.
Manage general ledger and other financial controls to ensure compliance to the relevant standards and controls.
Identify and resolve problem sources or escalate to relevant level of authority.
Contribute to the enhancement of systems, processes and issues in order to enhance financial management.
Accurately update and maintain the fixed assets register and make recommendations to enhance the management.
Identify expense variances and investigate root cause of variances.
Compare expenses to budgets and identify reasons for variances, in order to provide financial insights in reporting.
Analyse financial reports and information to identify area of opportunities or potential risks within segment.
Advise and guide stakeholders and non-financial managers regarding finance elements.
Proactively assist in engaging with business to forecast expenses and identify solutions to enhance cost effectiveness and increase operational efficiency.
Manage high risk and problematic financial issues in area of accountability and contribute to the development of policy.
CLIENT

Resolve client queries within agreed timeframes.
Build and maintain relationships with clients and internal and external stakeholders.
