The role:

The purpose of this role is to direct and control the activities of employees engaged in performing a variety of production operations aimed at achieving planned production targets as well as ensure the effective use of available resources in a safe and sustainable manner.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Oversees the production process and assists with drawing up of the production schedule
  • Monitor daily achievement of targets
  • Ensures all work is effectively planned, resourced and undertaken in a safe and cost-effective manner
  • Monitors the production process in line with set targets ensuring strict adherence to plan compliance
  • Monitors production standards and implements a quality control program, reviews report and statistics to plan and modify mining activities
  • Provides insight on the selection of mining equipment, reviews new production plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications
  • Implements and ensures that methods and procedures are in place for optimal asset utilization
  • Ensure adherence to policies, standards and procedures in all areas of operations
  • Investigates non-conformance to mining activities, identifies areas for improvement and implement solutions

Requirements:

  • Eng., B Tech or Advanced Diploma, B Eng., National Diploma Coal Mining Engineering
  • Mine Manager Certificate of Competency (Coal) – completed
  • Minimum 2 years appointed as Mine Overseer in a production environment
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation (i.e. MHSA, HSE, Labour etc.)
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Valid driver’s license
  • In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness

Advantageous:

  • Subordinate manager (MHSA Section 2.6.1 appointment) experience in an underground mine

Planner Analyst_Construction

Job Description

The Role

The purpose of this role is to assume responsibility for program and risk management of the project as well as overall project planning reporting. They will also contribute to the improvement of project management methods and processes within the Construction Business.

Key responsibilities include:

  • To manage the project control resources required to deliver a cross functional engineering project.
  • To support the project with progress reporting including schedule updates, forecast to complete, variance identification and opportunities for improvement.
  • Minimise disputes and claims by pro-active communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Developing and managing the baseline schedule, monitoring and reporting on project performance, controlling changes to the baseline, managing project risks, and providing guidance and tools for earned value management.
  • Providing advice and consultation on the implementation of good planning procedures and controls. This covers information on earned value management, cost and schedule variance analysis, completion estimations, and critical path analysis. They help the project team make informed decisions and keep control of the project by providing experience in these areas. Support programme integration, governance, formats, plan optimisation, and project controls best practices.
  • Assists program integration initiatives by building governance structures, defining formats and standards, optimizing project planning, and encouraging best practices in project controls. Endeavor to ensure that diverse program components are seamlessly integrated and that defined project controls protocols are followed.
  • Support and advise on the definition of Project Controls and Earned Value Management policies, procedures and the standards required to deliver projects.
  • Support the development of integrated master schedules for specific programmes in Primavera and/or Microsoft Project that reflect all interface milestones and activity durations from multiple contractors’ schedules and feed changes to the integrated master schedule.
  • Monitor and control programme compliance in respect of the various contractual obligations

Additional responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the Project controls function produce weekly / monthly reports in line with the project and company reporting calendar, providing details on progress, actuals, forecast and explanation of variances.
  • Ensure that project controls processes are consistently applied across the project.
  • Manage governance to ensure robust cost and schedule performance for the agreed Scope of Work across integrated programmes managed across multiple suppliers.
  • Support and advise on the definition of Project Controls and Earned Value Management policies, procedures and the standards required to deliver projects
  • Support the development of requirements for specific resource-loaded schedules.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager, commercial manager and other team members to maximise the potential of the project

Education & Experience:

  • Technical/Commercial related tertiary qualification, preferably Quantity Surveying or Engineering
  • 5 years of experience in construction project management, including planning/scheduling, cost management, contract management, change management: preferably in renewable energy industries
  • Ability to lead project controls effort within an operational area of the business to meet organizational objectives
  • Comprehensive understanding of Work Breakdown Structure and project Coding structures and ability to implement cost management work processes on projects
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction estimating methodologies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of risk management
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability in cross-functional environment.
  • Advanced MS Excel.
  • Software systems and packages including Primavera P6 or MS Project
  • Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines and aggressive goals.
  • An experienced user of the relevant Programme tools, techniques
  • Experience in the implementation of Earned Value Management based Project Control systems, in accordance with relevant national standards

Land Acquisition Officer

Job Description

The Role

The Land Acquisition Officer plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of our sustainable projects. This position is responsible for securing and negotiating access, option, and lease agreements in alignment with Seriti Green’s values. The primary objective is to provide the business with a social license to operate in the communities hosting the projects.

Key responsibilities include:

Development of client relationships:

  • Ensure that land tenure is bankable.
  • Work closely with the development team on Business Development activities to identify new land for securement.
  • Establish contact with prospective landowners to secure property for project development.
  • Collaborate with landowners to establish and maintain positive relationships with neighbours and communities, building a social license to operate.
  • Create and maintain relationships with existing clients, landowners, and community leaders in new potential project sites.
  • Work with the Seriti Green Development Team and Legal Counsel to ensure that all required contracts and forms are current, in place, and bankable ahead of the financial close of a project.
  • Maintain relationships with landowners to preserve the social license to operate, from the development stage through to, and including, construction and operations, as required.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key government stakeholders linked to land tenure.

Negotiating strategies:

  • Lead negotiations to secure land agreements in alignment with South African statutory requirements for wind energy, solar PV energy, and battery storage energy projects.
  • Develop, maintain, and adapt project and landholder-specific negotiation strategies in alignment with Seriti Green values and community engagement principles.
  • Liaise with external legal advisors to develop and maintain proforma agreements.

Project Management:

  • Accompany on-site work, such as coordinating subcontractors, supervising specialist studies, and liaising with stakeholders.
  • Establish and manage the client database and our land management system (Landfolio).
  • Ensure that land tenure is secure for the financial close of projects.
  • Oversee the securing of other land tenure contracts, such as servitudes.
  • Maintain close collaboration with accounting to ensure that proper land payments are made in accordance with the applicable land contracts.
  • Assist project managers with financial budgets and cash forecasts.
  • Ensure that all contracts/ agreements are correctly completed, captured, signed and saved on SharePoint.

Education & Experience

  • Qualification: Diploma or Degree in a Management-related field (Required).
  • Experience: 5 years of proven sales and leadership experience.
  • Proven negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and persuade to achieve desired outcomes in a collaborative style.
  • High level of commercial and legal aptitude with a good understanding of land tenure requirements in South Africa.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

Project Developer

Job Description

The Role

The Project Developer is responsible for supporting the end-to-end development of utility‑scale renewable energy projects, ensuring that all permitting, land, stakeholder, and regulatory requirements are met to progress projects through the development lifecycle. This role requires strong coordination skills, stakeholder engagement capability, and technical understanding across GIS, permitting processes, environmental compliance, and grid connection requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Take responsibility for critical project activities assigned to you by project managers and the development director.
  • Develop relationships with authorities, regulators and utilities.
  • Tracking and following up of government authorisations, including but not limited to: Environmental Authorisation, Civil Aviation Authority, Mining (Section 53) consents, Water use licence, Interim Eskom/NTCSA/Road Wayleaves, Rezoning and Eskom Costs Estimate Letters.
  • Assist with project management responsibilities including scope, timing and execution of tasks within a project.
  • Apply your skills to project tasks such as GIS, permitting and approvals and grid connection.
  • Occasional trips to landowners, together with a member of the land team, to discuss our project intentions, how their land would fit into our projects and compensation.
  • Assist with the identification of land required for project development, including servitude routes.
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders including government departments, clients (internal and external), landowners and service providers.
  • Create and maintain various databases/ tracking databases related to permitting and permitting-related stakeholders, including market intelligence/ competitor mapping.
  • Collate data/ information from our active construction sites required for ESG reporting to Group.
  • Contribute to a positive culture within the business and Development team.
  • Other ad hoc tasks as assigned, including but not limited to assisting with landowner events, processing of invoices, developing Requests for Quotation and/or Proposal. The Project developer is expected to assist team members on any task at any time.

 ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • GIS knowledge and the ability to quickly extract information from SG GIS system.
  • Capturing data and updating our Land Management System (Landfolio) as required.
  • Assist the Head of Development: Africa and Project Managers with training new staff or Project Management Interns, from time to time.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of South Africa’s power market and opportunities for utility-scale wind and solar PV projects in the market.
  • Keep up to date with environmental legislation, in order to understand the implications for project development.

Education & Experience

  • Demonstrated 3 – 5 years experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing tasks and/ or projects.
  • Experience in wind farm and/or solar plant and/or IPP development.
  • Experience in project finance would be beneficial..
  • Understanding of grid integration and the process of engagement with Eskom.
  • Formal Project Management training – e.g. certificate course/diploma or as component of suitable tertiary education level earned.

The role:

The purpose of the role is to manage and ensure implementation, coordination, and maintenance of the Occupational Hygiene program at the site, as well as to ensure alignment with legal, corporate, and other requirements and initiatives.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Assists the General Manager with designing and governance of VOHE standard risk management and monitoring requirements.
  • Ensure short, medium, and long-term (Life of Mine) planning of ventilation and occupational hygiene management.
  • Plays on oversight role to ensure that VOHE legal requirements, Seriti standards and policies are adhered to, Codes of Practices implemented at the operation.
  • Ensure correct aggregation of VOHE consultant inputs and technical expertise.

  • Collates, interprets, and verifies VOHE reports and statistics for validity/integrity before submission to group.

  • Undertakes relevant operational hygiene research aimed at improving hygiene systems and services.

  • 5 Years’ experience in the mining/engineering field with a minimum of 2 years as Senior VOHE Officer /Occupational Hygiene Specialist at an underground operation
  • Computer literacy (MS Office, SAP, other specialised technical programmes)
  • A valid driver’s license
  • In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness
