Job Purpose
The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for establishing, implementing, maintaining and continuously improving the Quality Management System (QMS) for the Aviation Training Organisation (ATO) in compliance with South African Civil Aviation Regulations (SACARs) Part 141, associated Technical Standards, and South African Airways’ corporate Quality Assurance programme. Additionally, they provide oversight of the training lifecycle—from curriculum development to final assessment—to ensure the highest standards of safety and educational quality. They are responsible for monitoring compliance with the Quality Management Systems (QMS) and facilitating continuous improvement through regular audits and data analysis.
Principal Accountabilities
Proactively and systemically design processes to ensure the high-quality standards and met, maintained and continuously improved
Review documentation and ensure training processes and procedures adhere to safety standards
Conduct internal audits of training programs, instructional methods, and facilities to ensure alignment with national and international aviation standards
Document findings and deliver feedback to instructional teams
Review newly designed learning programs to ensure they meet legislative requirements and accreditation criteria before implementation
Monitor and verify annual proficiency checks for all full-time and guest instructors to maintain high teaching standards
Oversee the administration of examinations and assessments to ensure strict adherence to regulatory and internal exam processes
Identify non-conformities, issue corrective action requests, and verify the effective implementation of these actions to prevent recurrence
Collect and analyse course feedback and performance data to identify gaps and recommend improvements to the training
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Aviation, Quality Management, or a related field
At least3–5 years in aviation quality assurance or compliance management, ideally within a training environment
Professional certification such as Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, or IATA Airline QMS certification is highly preferred
Deep understanding of ICAO, EASA, or local Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations related to ATOs
Knowledge and Skills

Job Purpose
South African Airways (SAA) wants you to join the SAA family as a First Officer.
As a First Officer, you will be expected to take all measures required for the safety of the flight, whether on the ground, or inflight, and be expected to perform the duties of a pilot for South African Airways as either a Second-In-Command Pilot (P2) or Cruise Relief Pilot (P3).

Candidates will be expected to undergo pre-employment assessments which includes checks i.e. criminal, credit, reference, authentication of qualifications etc., simulator / written and psychometric tests.
Qualifications & Experience
Matric Certificate / Grade 12 results / N3 or relevant tertiary qualifications (SAQA accredited)
Compulsory subjects: Mathematics or Statistics 101 and English (D symbol on higher grade or C symbol on standard grade) coupled with one of the following: Physical Science or Computer Science (D symbol on higher grade or C symbol on standard grade)
Valid South African Airline Transport Pilot’s License, or a Commercial Pilot License having completed all the ground subjects for the ATPL (previously known as a Frozen ATPL). A valid ATPL License must be obtained within 4 years from date of employment with SAA with a multi engine instrument rating
Valid Class 1 medical
A minimum of 1,500 flying hours which includes 200 hours on multi-engine aircraft
Be a South African citizen with a valid Passport
Knowledge and Skills
Must have expertise in the application of safety standards and safe operating practices
Detailed knowledge and understanding of national and international aviation regulations such as CAA, ICAO, IATA, FAA, and EASA
Demonstrate a firm understanding of international travel, international customs and practices etc.
Knowledge of all legal regulations for the piloting/aviation profession in the South African and international regulatory environment
