Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
PhD on NQF Level 10 in Nursing.
Registration with SANC as a professional nurse and midwife, nurse educator, assessor and moderator. Candidates must be in good standing, with a satisfactory performance record.
At least four years teaching experience in undergraduate and postgraduate nursing programmes at an academic tertiary institution.
Proven experience in curriculum development, planning and programme revisions.
Evidence of successful research funding as a primary or co-investigator.
Evidence as an external examiner for masters and doctoral students.
Record of successful research supervision of masters and doctoral students.
A track record as an established, independent researcher with publications in accredited scientific journals, including demonstration of first and/or senior authorship and related research outputs.
Evidence of participation in national health care and nursing committees, boards, fora and councils.
Experience in and evidence of social impact or community engagement activities.

The South African Polar Research Infrastructure (SAPRI) is one of thirteen large Research Infrastructures (RIs) developed by the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) as part of the South African Research Infrastructure Roadmap (SARIR).
SAPRI was established in 2021 to ensure coordination of South African marine and polar research as a national Big Science programme, providing seamless access to existing and new research infrastructure required to develop and enhance long-term observations of South Africa’s marine and polar region.
The Data, Products and Society (DPS) Integrated Facility (IF) of SAPRI was established in November 2022 and is hosted in the Botany and Zoology Department at Stellenbosch University (SU). The DPS IF aims to bring together the SAPRI Data Centre, SAPRI Communications and Engagement, and to provide support to the marine and polar Humanities and Social Sciences community.
The HASS (Humanities and Social Sciences) Coordinator and DPS Programme Officer is a full-time position with traditional weekday office hours and occasional meetings, travel, and events outside of regular office hours. Primary duties include leading and coordinating SAPRI support to the South African marine and polar Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) community (including ocean humanities) to facilitate and enable research, and providing strategic support across the Data, Products and Society (DPS) Integrated Facility (IF) by delivering specialised operational assistance where required. This position will report to the DPS Manager and will work closely with SAPRI stakeholders.
Duties/Pligte
For the marine and polar HASS community and research environment in South Africa:
Maintaining a strong understanding of marine and polar HASS research themes and trends, current developments, and emerging priorities.
Establishing and managing a SAPRI HASS user forum, including organising two meetings per year.
Assessing and coordinating infrastructure and support requirements, and providing guidance where required.
Supporting current SANAP HASS Principal Investigators (PIs) by facilitating access to infrastructure, and engaging South African tertiary institutions and research organisations to
encourage new HASS research and support emerging PIs.
Enabling and supporting interdisciplinary projects, and strengthening local, national, and international research networks.
Organising (or assisting in coordinating, where applicable) information sessions, workshops and conferences.
Establishing and coordinating a marine and polar HASS Research Commons at SU, providing space and resources for local and international researchers.
Providing advice on grant proposals, timelines and compliance (e.g. SANAP permits).
Promoting and facilitating access to relevant research resources, both physical (including the Antarctic Legacy of South Africa (ALSA)-curated polar library and archives) and digital (such
as the ALSA archive), and liaising with ALSA to arrange in-person access or the circulation of physical source materials as needed.
Encouraging the use of the ALSA archive for research purposes, including postgraduate degrees, student projects, scholarly publications, and related academic outputs.
Working closely with the SAPRI Communications and Engagement team to maintain up-to-date information on communication platforms and sharing relevant news, funding, mentorship,
engagement, and exhibition opportunities.
Communicating humanities research to diverse audiences and maintaining an up-to-date database of HASS researchers and prospective PIs.
Assisting and supporting the DPS Manager where necessary to ensure smooth operations of the DPS IF, and supporting day-to-day administration and operations, including:
Financial and administrative tasks (procurement, expenses, budgeting) and general office management at SU.
Assisting with the coordination of logistics related to DPS activities.
Supporting data management within marine and polar research, both for ALSA and the broader research fields.
Contributing to quarterly and annual DPS and SAPRI reports, and preparing quarterly news content for the SAPRI website.
Participating in engagement, outreach, training and workshop activities as required.
Representing South Africa on The Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) Standing Committee on the Humanities and Social Sciences (SC-HASS) and attending relevant meetings
(including marine equivalents).

The incumbent is responsible for supporting the effective functioning of the academic library by ensuring the accurate shelving, organisation, and maintenance of library collections according to DDC systems, thereby facilitating efficient access to information resources for students, academic staff, and researchers at Stellenbosch University (SU). The incumbent will also assist with directional and basic information inquiries from students and library users, carry out additional operational tasks within the Library and Information Service as may reasonably be required from time to time, including to provide support to different divisions at the Library and Information Service.

Die posbekleër is verantwoordelik om die effektiewe funksionering van die akademiese biblioteek te ondersteun deur akkurate rakke, organisasie en instandhouding van biblioteekversamelings volgens DDK-stelsels te verseker, en sodoende doeltreffende toegang tot inligtingsbronne vir studente, akademiese personeel en navorsers by die Universiteit Stellenbosch (US) te fasiliteer.
