Brief Description
Responsibilities

• Maintain, modify and update existing websites / Content Management System (CMS)
• Keeps website current and compiles information for updates and input
• Assists in website design, editing, and developing content for web sites and services
• Create graphical content, images, promotional designs, images for events, conferences, webinars, workshops or special meetings and social media
• Test and evaluate web pages for accuracy and functionality
• Assist with developing XHTML, CSS and some JavaScript Code
• Trouble shoot and resolve any electronic resources or web access problems
• Maintain changes, upgrades, and updates for electronic resources
• Help all Library users regarding E Resources access
• Design, develop and support any WWW features as required
• Helps Library users and staff with Help Desk related matters
• Assigns tickets from users to relevant support staff, making sure they contain all relevant information and providing 1st tier feedback
• Updates tickets, following up on resolved tickets to make sure the user is satisfied and the problem is resolved
• Resolves technical tickets by providing 1st tier support and escalation in a timely manner
• Checks daily activities for the Help Desk, making sure it is running and addressing issues raised on ITMS by colleagues
• Provides statistical reports on Help Desk activities and reporting on problem trends
• Participates in training activities (group, one-on-one, online or face to face)
• Creates training materials related to web, CMS, Electronic Resources or held desk services, makes these available to library staff and keeps them up to date

Qualifications and Required Skills:

• National Diploma in Information Technology
• ICT related certifications (Web related / ITIL and / or Content Management Systems)
• A minimum of (2) years working in a Web Design, Web Master or development role.

Knowledge and skills:

• Ability to work with and administer Content Management Systems (CMS)
• WYSIWIG applications, ability to edit, create and publish content for web services and related channels
• Ability to use graphical editing software, for creation of web publishable graphic elements
• Web related scripting languages (HTML, JavaScript, JASON)
• Social Media administration
• Extensive computing and technical skills (advanced excel for reporting)
• ITIL Foundations – Information Technology Infrastructure Library
• Experience with ICT Service Desk (ITMS – Information Technology Service Management)
• Training Skills – end-user-training, one-on-one and group sessions
• Effective written and verbal communication skills as demonstrated by the ability to articulate ideas, thoughts, and information in a logical manner and to summarize complex issues clearly and succinctly.
• Self-motivated and able to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Must be able to consistently meet deadlines.

Manager: International Projects (North and South America)

The main purpose of this position/job is to:

Play a key role in advancing Wits University’s internationalization agenda by brokering, developing, and managing strategic international partnerships across North and South America. The role supports the Head: Internationalization and Strategic Partnerships Office in facilitating academic, research, and innovation collaborations and expanding Wits’ global reach and impact.

Key responsibilities include the following:

  1. Partnership Development & Management (50%)

• Identify, broker, develop, and manage partnerships with institutions in the Americas.
• Proactively identify academic, research and innovation opportunities and advise relevant internal stakeholders.
• Initiate and manage all types of international agreements.
• Facilitate academic, research and innovation collaborations across faculties, schools, and departments.
• Coordinate inbound and outbound study abroad and exchange programmes.
• Maintain and update the partnerships database for the allocated region.
• Engage in stakeholder liaison, including representing Wits internationally at conferences, meetings and workshops.

  1. Policy and Procedure Development (10%)

• Liaise with stakeholders to strengthen governance of international partnerships.

  1. Resource Mobilisation & Project Management (10%)

  1. Managing International Visits (10%)

• Work with the Events Coordinator to manage visits from international delegations in the allocated region.

Role Overview
