Purpose of Role:

SPARK Schools teachers are central to scholar achievement. This role maintains high expectations for classroom culture, scholar behaviour, and academic growth. Educators serve as subject specialists, responsible for equipping scholars with content mastery and critical thinking tools necessary for success in matric and beyond.

Responsibilities:

Instruction & Curriculum Delivery

  • Independently plan and deliver all academic lessons both in-person and distance learning.
  • Teach high-impact grades or core subjects.
  • Deliver academic, clubs, and enrichment lessons aligned to the curriculum and SPARK’s pedagogical standards.
  • Participate in place-based education and implement SPARK Schools curriculum enrichment activities.
  • Teaching through Project-Based Learning 
  • Personalising teaching through data driven decisions
  • Differentiated instruction driven by technology

Collaboration & Planning

  • Lead grade-wide or subject-wide initiatives (e.g., moderation, data tracking).
  • Design and implement high-quality Individualised Behaviour and Learning Plans (IBLPs).
  • Participate in and co-lead professional development sessions and ongoing instructional coaching.
  • Review lesson plans and observe lessons
  • Resource creation and implementation monitoring
  • Co-creation of lesson planning and lesson materials

Scholar Progress Monitoring

  • Administer formative and termly assessments to track academic performance.
  • Submit and analyse scholar data to monitor growth and implement data-driven interventions.
  • Plan and implement academic support programmes for low-performing scholars and enrichment for high-performing scholars.
  • Monitoring the improvement of scholar performance through academic support programs
  • Monitor scholar progress in the Innovation HUB (online program engagement)

Character Development & Culture Building

  • Lead CQ (Character Quotient) sessions and facilitate scholar reflection activities.
  • Co-create CQ program
  • Lead training and development of culture and CQ for staff
  • Plan, drive and participate in culture events and initiatives   
  • Contribute to scholars’ careers and tertiary preparation initiatives.
  • Uphold and promote SPARK’s behaviour management strategies and cultural values.
  • Promote an inclusive school environment that drive diversity, equity and inclusion

Professionalism & Stakeholder Management

  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, families, and stakeholders.
  • Maintain professionalism at all SPARK Schools events and engagements.
  • Attend Saturday school events, parent meetings, and other required activities.
  • Promote and model SPARK Schools’ vision, mission, and values.

Compliance & Safety

  • Adhere to policies related to crisis management, child protection, anti-bullying, and health and safety.
  • Implement directives from the Crisis Management Team.
  • Participate fully in operational processes and procedures
  • Submit scholar data and records as required.

Requirements

Qualifications and Criteria:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

● B.Ed. degree or PGCE. Intermediate/Senior Phase. Recently qualified teachers are encouraged to apply!

● SAQA accreditation for non-South African equivalent qualifications

Purpose of Role:

The Assistant Principal drives student achievement as an instructional leader by providing excellent instructional coaching and professional development to benefit classroom instruction and the Learning Lab. The Assistant Principal supports the Principal in providing teachers, blended learning facilitators, and PE coaches the training and support necessary to be highly effective, professional educators.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the continual professional development of our educators by coaching members of the instructional staff to the successful completion of the goals set in their individualised professional growth plans. This includes designing and facilitating weekly professional development sessions for the whole faculty, as well as arranging for individual professional growth opportunities.
  • Support student achievement by setting clear and high expectations for excellent teaching in all content areas. Maintain a regular schedule of observations in all learning spaces and observation review meetings with educators to ensure that they can successfully plan instruction, execute instruction, and implement SPARK Schools’ culture and behaviour management techniques.
  • Implement the network’s rigorous curriculum, which aligns to and extends the South African national curriculum.
  • Implement online curriculum and small ­group tutoring in the Learning Lab that aligns to and extends what is taught by classroom teachers.
  • Facilitate an assessment and data analysis cycle that allows instructional staff to analyse student performance and identify areas for targeted instruction.
  • Collaborate with school leadership team to manage instructional staff, including facilitating termly and final evaluations.
  • Participate in the selection of new school-based personnel.

SPARK Schools personalised learning facilitators work directly with students in whole class, small group, and individual settings to provide academic interventions in literacy and maths.

Responsibilities:

  • Create a positive student culture around online learning and small group tutoring and maintain high behavioural expectations for all students.
  • Actively “coach” students on all computer programs and ensure that the educational software used in the lab effectively meets the needs of students.
  • Create and submit lesson plans for tutoring sessions.
  • Tutor small groups of students on literacy and maths skills.
  • Create and submit bi-weekly reports on ST Maths.
  • Communicate and collaborate with teachers and school administrators to create individualized learning plans for students.

  • Incorporate SPARK SEL (SocialEmotional Learning) curriculum with scholars.
  • Ensure all Learning Lab resources are used and stored responsibly and .

Purpose of Role:

The Principal drives student achievement by leading a team of excellent staff to prepare SPARK scholars for university and beyond. The Principal sets a rigorous vision for student achievement and implements strategic steps to lead staff, families, students, and the greater community to fulfill that vision. The Principal collaborates with the Assistant Principal(s) and School Operations Manager to uphold high expectations for school culture, student achievement, and professional development.

The Principal drives decision ­making within the SPARK Schools model in terms of the instructional program and school operations to ensure that every SPARK scholar is academically successful and an excellent representative of the SPARK core values. Responsibilities:
