Assistant Organisational Development Practitioner –
Talent Management

Requirements

  • Relevant 3 year tertiary qualification in Human Resources
    Management or Organisational Psychology/ Behaviour
  • Up to 2 years relevant experience as an Organisational
    Development or HR/Talent Management practitioner, within
    a large and complex organisation would be preferred
  • A valid driver’s licence is recommended
  • Intermediate proficiency in the use of Microsoft 365
    applications (including SharePoint, PowerPoint, Word,
    and Excel).

Key Performance Areas

  • Contribute to the development and review of Strategic
    Workforce Plans by analysing workforce data and identifying
    trends, risks, and capability requirements.
  • Support the application of workforce planning outputs by
    assisting HR Business Partners and departments with
    workforce gap analysis and scenario inputs.
  • Apply job architecture and competency frameworks in support
    of role alignment, career pathways, and capability clarity.
  • Contribute to the development and updating of career

    competencies,
    qualifications, and role complexity.
  • Participate in Talent Review processes by preparing
    professional inputs, analysing talent and succession data,

Environmental Education Officer – Biodiversity

Requirements

  • 3 years’ tertiary qualifications in People and Conservation
    and/or Nature Conservation or a minimum of five years’
    equivalent working experience within People and
    Conservation at appropriate level
  • 3 years’ relevant experience in the fields of People and
    Conservation, Stakeholder Engagement, Community
    Conservation and/or Environmental Education
  • Exposure to social, ecological and educational issues
    pertaining to protected areas in Cape Town including basic
    understanding of the social and political environment seen
    as advantageous
  • Experience in conflict resolution with various stakeholders and
    partners
  • Bilingual in two of three official languages of the Western Cape
    (Afrikaans/ English/ IsiXhosa)
  • Valid code B driver’s licence
  • A valid code 10 (C 1) and a professional driving permit (PrDP)
    will serve as an added advantage
  • Computer literate (MS Office, Microsoft Outlook)
  • Must be physically fit (walk 3.6 km carrying an 11 kg pack
    within 34 minutes)

Key Performance Areas

  • Engage with Nature Reserve-specific stakeholders,
    undertaking outreach and promoting the Nature Reserve
    and the principles of biodiversity conservation
  • Proactive community liaison, engagement, and relationship
    management
  • Develop and implement site-specific programmes relating
    to community, partnerships and stakeholder (internal and
    external) engagement
  • Administer bookings and enquiries related to environmental
    education and public liaison
  • Collate, manage and report on visitor user groups and other
    client statistics
  • Input into and manage aspects of the visitor facilities

Cadet Fire Fighter Skills Program

Requirements

  • Grade 12 Certificate (Mathematics and Physical Science preferred)
  • 18 years or older
  • Must not suffer from fear of confined spaces or heights
  • Must be medically, physically and mentally fit
  • Must be able to work in a team and cope with stressful situations
  • Have no Criminal Record
  • NFPA 1051 Wildland Firefighter 1Certificate – will be advantageous.

NOTE: All shortlisted candidates will be required to undertake and
pass the following compulsory fitness test

  • Reach test (1.9 m)
  • 2.4 km run (Males 11 minutes and Females 13 minutes)
  • Push-ups (30 in 60 seconds)
  • Sit-ups (30 in 60 seconds)
  • Dead load carries (2 x 25 kg drums over a distance of 100 m)

NOTE: Candidates who pass the physical test are required to:

  • pass a written assessment and an interview
  • submit their fingerprints and identity numbers for the purpose of
    checking criminal records – no other criminal clearances will be
    accepted
  • undergo a City medical evaluation
  • undergo a compulsory drug test at a City testing center
  • pass a claustrophobia and acrophobia test (fear of confined
    spaces and fear of heights)

  • Applicants must preferably reside within the City of Cape Town
    Municipal Area
  • No expectation of permanent employment upon successful
    completion of the program
  • Applicants must be unemployed at the commencement of the
    program.

Operator – Small Plant

Requirements

  • Basic Literacy
  • 0-1 year relevant experience in the operating of small plant
  • equipment and hand held tools
  • A certificate of competency (chainsaw certificate)

Note:
The successful candidates will be required to work in all weather
conditions; work outside normal working hours during emergencies
and planned activities and work days can includePublic Holidays

Key Performance Areas

  • Perform operations associated with felling and / or cutting of trees,
    branches and overgrown shrubs.
  • Undertake specific activities associated with the upgrading and
    maintenance of parks and open spaces including cutting, and
    trimming lawns and verges; weeding, cleaning and shaping flowers;
    excavating and backfilling trenches; picking up and removal of
    litter and refuse bags.
  • Responsible for tool and equipment storage including safeguarding
    and care of cleaning equipment and tools.
  • Cleaning of vehicles and tools used by applying the use of
    pressurized cleaning systems (hand held hoses).
  • Undertake specific activities associated with horticulture including
    mixing of chemicals as per registration; ensuring safe usage and
    return for safe-keeping of chemicals; comply with and ensure that
    environmental safety is practiced.

Principal Professional Officer

Requirements

  • A relevant BEng/BTech/BSc degree.
  • Registration with ECSA (PrEng/PrTech Eng).
  • 8 years or more relevant experience within the Water and
    Sanitation sector.
  • Good knowledge and use of the General Conditions of Contract
    (GCC) for Construction Works, Construction Industry
    Development Board’s (CIDB) Standard Professional Services
    Contract and CIDB’s Standard for Uniformity in Engineering and
    Construction Works Contracts.
  • Experience in the management of professional staff and/or leading
    a design office is required.
  • Computer Literacy: MS Office, SAP & Civil Design Software
    (Civil3D/Wadiso).
  • Physically fit and able bodied.

Key Performance Areas

  • Provides a comprehensive and high level of consulting and
    advisory professional service, and leadership in the development
    of programs, projects, systems and processes and policies
    undertaken by the Branch.
  • Applies a substantial body of knowledge within the discipline by
    effective implementation of Civil Engineering capital and
    operational projects, including the Planning, Design and Project
    execution in Reticulation.
  • Engages with Master Planning unit to understand the development
    requirements.
  • Ensures that the City design standards and legislative requirements
    are maintained with the delivering of capital projects.
  • Prepares and compiles tender (bid) documents in compliance with
    the City of Cape Town’s Supply Chain Management (SCM)

    (BSC) and Bid Evaluation Committees (BEC).
  • Appoints and manage of external Professional Service Providers in
    the delivering of water and sanitation projects.
  • Manages and mentors a team of professionals.
  • Compiles, prioritizes and schedules projects and budgets for the
    provision of Water and Sanitation infrastructure.
  • Financial management of projects in compliance with the
    Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) and the City of Cape
    Town’s Supply Chain Management (SCM) policies and guidelines.
