About Scooter

Scooter designs and manufactures electric three-wheelers and two-wheelers for commercial fleet use. Our product range includes the Scooter Nova, Scooter Atlas, P-Series, and Velaphi Roamer, built around a proprietary modular EV drive platform.

The Role

The Sales Consultant drives conversion of our pipeline into confirmed orders. You will run outbound sales, coordinate customer demos, generate quotes, and lock in commitments ahead of the production schedule. This is a structured, pipeline-driven sales role with a known product and a live production calendar.

You will report directly to the Chief Product Officer.

What You Will Own

  • Reactivation of existing client relationships
  • Qualified prospect conversion
  • Customer demos at our Germiston workshop and on-site at client locations
  • Quote generation and commercial terms negotiation
  • Deposit collection and customer commitment lock-in
  • Handover to Office Manager for delivery scheduling
  • Weekly sales pipeline reporting
  • Post-delivery follow-up and customer satisfaction tracking

Commission Structure

Base salary: R9,500 per month CTC.

Commission: 5% of the selling price of every vehicle sold and delivered. Commission is paid on collection of the delivery balance, not on deposit, aligning your earnings with the customer actually taking delivery.

Required

  • Minimum 3 years in a commercial B2B sales role, ideally in automotive, fleet, logistics, industrial equipment, or commercial vehicles
  • Proven experience closing deals in the R50,000 to R500,000 per unit range
  • Comfortable with enterprise procurement cycles and deposit-based payment terms
  • Strong written proposal and quoting skills
  • Proficiency in CRM tools (HubSpot, Zoho, Pipedrive, or similar)
  • Valid driver’s licence and own reliable transport
  • Matric certificate. Tertiary qualification in Sales, Marketing, or Business is an advantage

Preferred

  • Prior experience selling to commercial fleet, logistics, retail, telecoms, or last-mile delivery operators
  • Existing commercial network in the Gauteng fleet and delivery sector
  • Understanding of EV economics (total cost of ownership, fuel savings, carbon reporting)

You Will Thrive Here If

  • You prefer closing structured deals with defined products over generic relationship selling
  • You are comfortable with a real commission structure tied to actual revenue collection
  • You like working with a known production calendar and concrete delivery dates
  • You can hold your own in a procurement conversation with a Tier 1 corporate buyer
  • You follow up relentlessly without needing to be chased
  • You are comfortable saying “no” to a prospect who is not ready to commit

Working Conditions

  • Standard hours: Monday to Friday, 08h00 to 17h00. Client visits may extend outside these hours.
  • Location: Scooter workshop, Germiston. Field visits across Gauteng.
  • Reports to: Chief Product Officer
  • Contract role with potential for conversion to permanent based on performance

Interview Process

  • Stage 1: Online application with a short written sales scenario

  • Stage 3: Reference check (minimum 2 prior commercial references)
  • Stage 4: Written offer

Quality Technician

About Scooter

Scooter designs and manufactures electric three-wheelers and two-wheelers for commercial fleet use. Our product range includes the Scooter Nova, Scooter Atlas, P-Series, and Velaphi Roamer, built around a proprietary modular EV drive platform.

The Role

The Quality Technician is the final gatekeeper before any vehicle leaves our Germiston workshop. You perform quality checks on refurbished and newly-assembled vehicles, run pre-delivery inspections against a standardised checklist, and sign off each unit as customer-ready. This is a piece-rate role, paid per QC hour against a standardised scope per unit.

You will report directly to the Chief Product Officer and have authority to hold a vehicle back from delivery if it fails QC.

What You Will Own

  • Post-build QC on refurbished vehicles
  • Post-assembly QC on newly-built vehicles
  • Pre-delivery inspection (PDI) against the Scooter standardised checklist
  • Defect logging, rework coordination with the Production Technician, and sign-off records
  • Road test protocol: braking, steering, electrical systems, battery behaviour under load
  • Final inspection report for every unit delivered

Piece-Rate Structure

Rate: R110 per QC hour. Scope and hours per unit are standardised per vehicle type and communicated on hire.

Payment terms: fortnightly, against signed-off inspection records.

Required

  • N4 to N6 qualification in Motor Mechanics, Electrical Engineering, or a related trade; or 3+ years hands-on QC or PDI experience in an automotive setting
  • Demonstrable experience with vehicle inspection checklists and fault reporting
  • Working knowledge of vehicle electrical, mechanical, braking, and suspension systems
  • Competence with multimeters, diagnostic tools, and brake test equipment
  • Valid driver’s licence (Code B minimum). Willingness to road-test vehicles as part of QC
  • Own reliable transport or reliable access to public transport to reach Germiston daily
  • Matric certificate

Preferred

  • Experience with electric vehicle systems, BMS diagnostics, or battery pack testing
  • Prior employment in an OEM or Tier 1 quality department
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 quality standards

You Will Thrive Here If

  • You are stubborn about standards and will not sign off a vehicle you would not drive yourself
  • You enjoy finding what is wrong before the customer does
  • You document every finding, even the small ones
  • You work independently and do not need approval to fail a unit
  • You are comfortable pushing back on production if something is not right
  • You like the idea of being paid per unit signed off, not per hour attended

Working Conditions

  • Standard hours: Monday to Friday, 08h00 to 17h00. Occasional Saturday work during peak delivery weeks.
  • Location: Scooter workshop, Germiston
  • Reports to: Chief Product Officer
  • Full PPE provided. QC tools and diagnostic equipment provided.
  • Contract role with potential for conversion to permanent based on performance

Interview Process

  • Stage 1: Online application
  • Stage 2: 90-minute practical interview at our Germiston workshop. You will be asked to perform a QC walkaround on a test vehicle and complete a mock PDI checklist
  • Stage 3: Reference check
