In this Cross Border Controller Position
- Understand & process Road Freight shipment requests and execute such request expertly.
- To arrange bookings based on customer requirements with the most qualified & cost efficient transport supplier, capable of executing the shipment requirements.
- Register shipments on CW1 & SALOODO! Within the specified timeframes (1 hour) after receiving shipping instructions
- Process shipping documentation acquired from customers in the most adequate way to allow DHL CDZ to efficiently & effectively customs clear the shipment within the specified time frame (3 hours).
- Ensuring all shipping documents related to the file are accurately named and stored on eDOCS, following stated document management best practices
- Ensuring all ACR’s & WIP’s are loaded onto registered file at time of registration
- Ensuring all files are properly billed out within the acceptable time frames following best billing practices & ensuring accepted GP margins are maintained
- To co-ordinate movement of cargo within required/stipulated time frames in order to meet customer needs.
- To manage and monitor all parties in the supply chain of the shipment (Shipper, Carrier & Agents)
- To develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and customers.
- To prepare specific customer reports whenever required. Support the Head of Road Freight with, negotiation & maintenance of supplier rates and contracts, new/change of systems, directives.
- Receive and accept transport orders from customers.
- Book shipment with transporter on time.
- Follow up acquittals for RIT/RIB shipments.
- Follow up PODs (proof of delivery) with transporters.
- Arrange collection / packing of customer cargo.
- Supply carrier with transport order instructions, CW1 reference No. & SALOODO! Shipment No. • Send Pre-alerts to customer & destination offices and agents.
- Invoice shipment based on estimate or rate agreements.
- To produce thorough and accurate documentation ensuring customer satisfaction and compliance to regulations.
- To participate within the department with regards to industry or regulation changes.
- The identification of Hazardous Cargo and ensuring the cargo is transported under the right regime
- Follow up Standard Operating Procedures (general or customer specific).

Job Purpose:
Support to develop and administer legal processes and procedures to identify and mitigate legal risks and protect DHL’s legal and business interests in line with business needs, established legal framework, standards, applicable laws and regulations
Providing legal support to DHL Supply Chain Africa and operating within the larger GBS Legal sphere.
Will form part of the Supply Chain Legal Services team, a division within GBS (the in-house services arm of DHL). Will have responsibility to assist Head of Legal for Africa and advising the business on day-to-day legal matters (including contract drafting and review; dispute resolution; company secretarial) within the region and liaising, where necessary, with legal colleagues in other regions on cross border arrangements. Your tasks:
Legal Advice and Services
Assist in providing a comprehensive legal service to DSC by advising on all legal aspects relating to the business of DSC, including the perusal and review of tender process, negotiation of contract and post contract interpretation and possible disputes. Where a dispute arises, meaningfully exploring alternatives to litigation; managing and implementing any alternative dispute resolution process successfully.
Drafting and reviewing commercial documents in line with commercial expectations; BCA document and other internal policy/standards and advising on commercial transactions from a legal perspective.
Maintaining up to date and proper records (including Passport; Notebook) and actioning all legal correspondence. Managing systems and processes to ensure efficiency in the administration of the legal function.
Advise DSC on other legal aspects that affect its business, whether contractual or otherwise and answer all ad hoc queries raised by DSC.
Ensure compliance by DSC with applicable group policies and procedures, namely by ensuring that contracts with service providers and clients are in compliance with the Company’s contracting standards and Commercial Expectations.
Identify potential areas of risk and liability and advise on strategy for avoidance, minimization and/or mitigation, as well as escalating any material issues within the business and legal department where required. Provide legal updates and training to DSC on recent legal developments.
Liaise with the group’s other departments (legal departments or otherwise) as necessary. eg. Company Secretarial, Corporate Real Estate, Risk and Insurance
Liaise with the group’s other business units both in South Africa, UK and overseas as appropriate to facilitate the conclusion of transactions and other projects as necessary.
Managing litigation: Liaise and assist in the management of external legal counsel and monitor and minimize use of legal spend (Including scrutinizing fee notes).
Liaising with all external lawyers to ensure timely representation and ensure that all court disputes are managed, reported upon and external counsel sufficiently advised. Provide accurate monthly reporting to business.
Provide on occasion legal training and contract education to DSC. Eg. data protection regulations and the application of the Deutsche Post DHL Data Privacy Policy
Company Secretarial: File company changes such as directorship changes, resolutions, annual returns, changes in ownership or shareholding. Train on corporate governance, advise the board and board committees on matters affecting the company. Responsible for resolution processes for authorized signatories, as well as maintaining statutory books and registers. Act as the key corporate secretarial support and the Statutory Meetings. Responsible for the preparation and provision of the board file and AGM file for the Company’s statutory meetings to the board members and/or shareholders.
Proactive management on corporate governance and statutory compliance administration.
Report to and consult country management on legal questions/ issues.
Ensuring corporate housekeeping is maintained. Advising and facilitating the due process in Company searches and other government enquiries.
Legal research and drafting legal opinions.
Approvals on BCA and Contracts Database portals – ensuring adherence to standards.

Insurance Manager, Middle East & Sub-Saharan Africa

Job Purpose:
- Lead the Insurance Job Family covering non-life insurance operations for all business units in the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa. (40+ Countries)
- Act as a trusted advisor on Insurance matters to local business units within the territory including senior leadership.
- Oversee effective and efficient provision of insurance management to DHL Group trading entities in the assigned territory.
- Lead Insurance management activity and align services with the global Insurance Job Family, external insurance providers and insurance brokers.
Your tasks:
- Establishes an excellent working knowledge of the IRM service portfolio, strategy and value proposition, knowledge of Divisional strategies, organisational structures and IRM interfaces including undertaking Business
- Review Meetings (“BRM’s”) with country, territory and regional management.
- Delivers training and education to Business Unit insureds to promote awareness of the scope/limitations of cover and of the insureds’ obligations to ensure that coverage applies/responds.
- Execute non-life insurance renewal processes including the communication of budget advice, alignment with the
- Global Insurance Job Family on timelines, exposure data collection (revenues, insured values, fleet & head counts etc.) and validation, preparation of renewal submissions, offer & acceptance process, premium invoicing and collection and evidencing of cover.
- Responsible for maximizing the Global Insurance Job Family’s internal market share covering all entities within the territory. Identifies any entity that is ‘off programme’ and aligns plans for inclusion in global programmes or agrees on local placement exceptions.
- Maintains awareness of external insurance market conditions and articulates the value proposition of IRM Insurance strategy to local decision makers.
- Drives continuous improvements, using FIRST CHOICE practices, in process and service delivery to reinforce Provider of Choice status.
- Liaise with other IRM functions (contract risk management, claims. Health & wellbeing) in the assigned territory and elsewhere to promote cross functional alignment and optimize IRM offerings and Business Unit satisfaction levels.
- Align and collaborate with other GBS Service Lines (Real Estate, Legal & HR etc.) and Business Unit stakeholders whilst directing the review of insurance clauses/requirements in lease/sub-lease and vendor contracts, purchase orders and RFP’s/RFQ’s.
- Provide input and content into sub-regional BRM’s.
- Produce monthly management reports as agreed with line management.
Your profile:
- University degree and / or holding a professional qualification in insurance e.g. ACII, FCII, CPCU, CEBS, IEBA or other business management qualification.
- 8 to 10 years’ experience of Insurance within a global multinational insurance company, broker or in-house risk function.
- Proven track record in developing, coaching, and leading team of direct and non-direct reports in a multinational environment.
- Exceptional data and analytics, project management and skills with excellent time and workload management ability.
- Excellent written and oral communication and able to articulate technical content to a non-technical audience.
- Full Professional Proficiency in written and oral English with proficiency in Arabic and/or French is a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of PowerPoint, Word & Excel.

In this Ocean Freight Import Controller Position
- Provide front line contact with customer and maintain high levels of customer service.
- Manage the clients requirements outlined on client SOP
- Attending to client queries and complaints as required.
- Develop and maintain customer relationships with existing customers.
- Participates in joint Sales visits if necessary
- Identify and report new possible business opportunities.
- Liaising with overseas stations and suppliers in order to arrange shipments.
- Performs booking and booking optimization according to internal guidelines as defined by Product
- Monitoring, co-ordinating and following up on shipments on a daily basis until delivery.
- Keeping record of the status of shipments, with written status reports to customers when required.
- Prepares, controls and distributes all required Import documents to counterparts (customs department, carrier, consignee, supplier, etc.) complying with regulations and internal procedures
- Ensuring the accurate tariffs application on all shipments billings.
- Take full responsibility at file level for GP/Job Profitability and raising any issues or incidents that would impact the profitability of the account.
- Performs IT systems related tasks to provide up to date information on shipment
- File processing in accordance with all operational CW1 SOP’s/ DGF Work Manuals.
- Making sure all operational KPI’s are met and maintained with specific focus on station metrics
- Capture and monitor system time stamps required for client status reports and KPI’s.
- Monthly KPI reporting if required
- Assist Ocean freight Import Manager to meet department targets.
- Maintain good relationships with colleagues in various operations.
- Maintains excellent relationships with suppliers
- Raising CCM’s and OI’s where required.
- Constantly demonstrating and living the values of DHL
- High focus on process improvement and best practise implementation
- Coordinate/liaise/work with carrier contact on operational activities, issue resolution, process execution and performance improvements according to corporate policy.
- Attendance at and application of DGF mandatory training as communicated from time to time.
