Occupational Health Nursing Practitioner

Job Description

Purpose

To support the health, safety, and well-being of all employees by delivering clinical care, preventing workplace injuries and illnesses, and ensuring compliance with occupational health standards in a food production environment.

Main Duties

  • Administer and dispense medication and treatment to employees on-site, where required.
  • Provide Family Planning information and administering contraceptives as needed.
  • Maintaining employee’s medical files up to date
  • Ensures that contents of first aid boxes on-site are adequate and in line with compliance requirements, lists of contents and protocols re the management of these
  • Ensure that all Work-related incidents are timeously assessed and treated – either by administering appropriate care in situ or referring the case to the Company’s doctor or other suitable general practitioner. Maintain accurate and complete records of all work incidents
  • Perform patient assessments, record medical histories, determine how an injury or illness may have occurred, develop or contribute to treatment plans.
  • Co-ordinate Audiometry testing at suitable facilities and with appropriately qualified practitioners, as required.

DESIRED EDUCATION

  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
  • Post Graduate Diploma/Certificate in Occupational Health Nursing.
  • Valid Dispensing License and SANC Membership
  • Valid First Aid Certificate

Supervisor

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified, experienced, and energetic Supervisor to join Sea Harvest Group in Saldanha Bay on the West Coast of South Africa. This position is based in the Fresh Fish Operations Department, where the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the production plant. The role focuses on achieving maximum plant performance while ensuring that production targets are met timeously and safely, in accordance with customer expectations and quality standards.The Sea Harvest Group is a leading vertically integrated seafood, agri-processing, and branded fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) business with a global footprint. POSITION: SUPERVISOR
REPORTING TO: FFO SUPERINTENDENT
PURPOSE: To ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the production plant, maximizing performance while consistently meeting customer expectations, quality standards, and safety requirements. 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

GUIDE, DIRECT AND OVERSEE THE TEAMS WITH OVERALL COMPANY OBJECTIVES

  • Monitor and manage absenteeism, arrange and conduct absenteeism counselling’s and referrals to the clinic.
  • Ensure competencies of staff, plan skills development with WPT’s.
  • Take disciplinary action as and when required, complete incident reports and follow up on enquires.
  • Counsel poor performance.


MANAGE PRODUCTION OUTPUT TO MEET DEADLINES AND QUALITY REQUIREMENTS
 

  • Monitor yield and labour efficiency
  • Produce products according to requirements
  • Manage down time
  • Manage FIFO and ensure traceability
  • Manage line performance

MAINTAIN GOOD HOUSEKEEPING AND AN EFFECTIVE WORKPLACE

  • Oversee health and safety of employees.

  • Arrange corrective training for product non-conformance.
  • Monitor staff workplace hygiene.
  • Produce products to specification.

  • Manage production improvement processes.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Grade12 certificate or equivalent
  • Relevent NQFNLevel 6 certificate of competency preferably
  • At least 5-10years’s relevant production experience.
  • Knowledge of quality systems and health and safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of processing and production processes.

POSITION: SKIPPER 

REPORTING TO: FAS FLEET MANAGER
PURPOSE: To oversee the operation of the fishing vessel, ensuring the safety of the crew, managing the
fishing activities and navigating the vessel to optimal fishing grounds.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

and requirements.

➢ Ensure care and maintenance of fishing gear and equipment.

We are currently looking to employ an experienced Chief Engineer to join our fleet operating out of Saldanha Bay on the West Coast.

POSITION: CHIEF ENGINEER (>2000KW FISHING)

REPORTING TO: FAS SUPERINTENDENT
PURPOSE: To ensure fully operational vessels operating safely and effectively in accordance with SAMSA
and other related Maritime Regulations and company policies.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE
1. Ensure that the vessel is mechanically able to remain at sea for the full voyage
without unnecessarily returning to port for repairs.
2. Ensure that preventative maintenance procedures are in place for all equipment
and that repairs are carried out satisfactorily.
3. Inform the Skipper and Superintendent timeously of any changes in performance
which may require immediate action to be taken at sea or which may require
investigation by shore-based engineering staff.
4. Ensure that the correct spare parts are available in the correct amount to maintain
efficiency during sailing.

• OPERATIONS, WATCHKEEPING AND BUNKERING
1. Ensure that all machinery functions effectively during sailing and trawling
2. Ensure that the hold temperatures are always maintained at the specified
temperatures.
3. Ensure that the recognized watch keeping practices are adhered to.
4. Ensure that correct grades of fuel and lubrication oils are loaded.

• ADMINISTRATION
1. Ensure that the vessels Engineering stores requirements for every trip are
adequate, considering the vessel’s operating parameters & length of voyage.
2. Ensure that all documentation for every voyage as per SAMSA & Company
requirements is in order and handed over to the relevant manager.
3. Ensure that the engine room staff are informed of operating procedures regarding
operation and maintenance of equipment.
4. Ensure the planned maintenance system is updated.

• STANDARDS AND SAFETY
1. Take full responsibility for the safety of the engine room staff and machinery.
2. Ensure that all subordinates are familiar with emergency procedures and that
emergency safety procedures and good housekeeping practices are complied with
and followed in the engine room.
3. Ensure that operation of machinery does not infringe on any International, South
African or Company regulations regarding protection of Marine Environment.
4. Represents vessels Engineering Department when safety surveys are carried out
by demonstrating the operations conditions of engine room equipment.
5. Represents the vessels Engineering Department during enquiries & investigations
held by Sea Harvest, SAMSA, NOSA, Portnet etc.

• MANAGEMENT AND TRAINING
1. Develop the skills and confidence of officers by providing on board training and
explaining the relevant content of the following to all personnel
2. Undertaking discipline at sea of engine room staff in terms of Company Policy &
Merchant Shipping Act always adhering to approved disciplinary procedures.
3. Dealing with subordinate grievances in accordance with the Grievance procedure.
4. Assessing subordinates and engineering cadets on an ongoing basis.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES:
• Valid Certificate of Competency as Chief Engineer (>2000KW Fishing)
• Valid SAMSA Medical Certificate (unrestricted)
• Valid STCW documentation
• At least 3 years’ experience as Second Engineer (unlimited)
• Previous experience as Chief Engineer (unlimited) would be advantageous.
• Technical and problem-solving skills.
• Personnel management and safety awareness
• Technical Report Writing
• Fluent in the English language, both spoken and written.
• Able to follow company instructions and procedures.
