MAINTENANCE CONTROLLER

The Key Purpose of this role is to ensure that effective maintenance plans are in place for the maintenance of applicable equipment, that spares are available for the planned work, resources are available to execute. On the planned maintenance outage, monitor that the plan is effective. Makes recommendations to the maintenance controller, Brewing Area Manager and Brewing Engineer if unforeseen work arises.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Comply with safety, health and environmental procedures and legislation
  • Maintain safety and housekeeping standards
  • Locate plant, equipment, spares and relevant documentation / systems
  • Develop the plan
  • Tags and work airings from inspection tasks are planned to carry out repairs
  • Continuously improve (optimise) plans and look for opportunities to reduce the overall planned maintenance outage, whilst ensuring that all required work is carried, and plant is not placed at risk

Minimum Requirements:

  • Min – Trade tested Millwright (N6) Mechanical or Electrical artisan or Technician (N6)
  • Min – 3 – 5 years production engineering in a FMCG environment
  • 5 Years’ technical mechanical/electrical and bottling experience in a leadership capacity in a FMCG environment

Desirable:

  • Mechatronics /Electrical/ Instrumentation qualifications or equivalent and trade tested
  • 5 years production Engineering experience with 5 years at supervisory level
  • Knowledge of Brewing and Packaging plant will be an advantage
  • PC literate (Proficiency in Microsoft office applications)
  • Cost management and spares inventory an added advantage.

  • Troubleshooting skills with high-speed manufacturing equipment such as AC/DC motors, VFDs, PLCs, servo motors, and PLC I/O modules
  • Good understanding of industrial network communication – Profibus, Ethernet
  • Sound knowledge of process calibration and instrumentation including but not limited to pressure, flow and temperature measurement
  • Sound understanding of electrical schematics, piping & instrumentation drawings (P&IDs)

Minimum requirements:

  • Instrumentation N6
  • Trade Tested Instrumentation Artisan

Key competencies and attributes:

  • BSc Degree in Biological Sciences, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  • Completed brewing traineeship
  • IBD Papers 1,2&3 completed and passed

The key purpose of this role is to maintain, repair and optimize plant and associated devices to ensure plant availability and product 
quality at minimum cost without sacrificing standards.


Key Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain a safe, healthy, risk-free working environment at all times by abiding to all rules and regulations of the safety policies
  • Perform maintenance and operation on various machines while ensuring that the machine is safe before maintenance tasks are carried out
  • Maintain and repair plant & associated devices at minimum cost while maintaining highest quality standards
  • Optimize and improve plant, process equipment & systems in case of Electricians/ Instruments need to ensure that all tasks performed meets the requirements of South African Bureau of Standards Act 1945
  • Ensure that maintenance tasks are completed to the standard work instructions set out by AB InBev
  • Standby duty required as per roster set out with minimum disruptions

  • Ability to solve problems on FMCG machines
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge to operation staff improving their skills sets
  • Ability to train, coach and mentor operation staff on ATO and 5’s principles
  • Ability to optimize usages and reduce wastage with permanent solutions

  • Ability to work no supervision (strong self-management practices)
  • Ability to problem solve using basic problem-solving tools (5 why, fishbone)
  • Ability to reduce machine downtime to minimum while ensuring all problems have permanent solutions
  • Ability to analyze various graphical data and open gaps to improve performance
  • Ability to identify nonstandard work and tag the defects
  • Ability to work out spares requirements for machines and request via the sap system
  • Ability to be able to use electronic communication devices (e.g.) Tablets, laptops and other devices

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum N3 Technical qualification or higher
  • Trade test qualification in Mechanical / Electrical/ Instrumentation
  • Experience in Packaging would be advantageous
  • Summative assessment in current role would be advantageous
  • 2 year’s post trade test experience would be advantageous
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Basic operations of electronic communication devices

The Key purpose of this role is to safely operate and maintain defined Packaging equipment and related processes in order to achieve optimal effectiveness.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Operating equipment and manage associated processes & performance in packaging
  • Interpret and implement production plan for shift
  • Operate manual and automatic machines on line as per standards
  • Ensure process quality and productivity
  • Perform administration work such as tracking and monitoring of processes and take action when required
  • Manage PIMS & POMS and take corrective action on negative trends
  • Use of OFR’s (As per triggers)
  • Contribute towards AB reports as required
  • Ensure and maintain a safe and healthy work environment

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum Grade 12
  • Post matric or equivalent (e.g. N4) -National Diploma or Equivalent
  • Added advantage IOB Certificate
  • Training: Min 9 months on the job training and having completed SKAP within 12 months
  • Experience within a Packaging FMCG industry

Engineering Trainee

Job Purpose

The Key Purpose of this role is to address the acquisition of technical skills and experience for graduates as well as familiarize them with the company culture and principles in an 18-month structured programme. The rigor of the programme should ensure that an individual that has completed the programme can be allocated an area of responsibility immediately.

Key Outputs and Responsibilities:

  • The Traineeship is primarily a hands-on, self-study program where the Trainee is expected to gain a full understanding of the theory, principles and operation of equipment across the various department
  • Participation in projects is aligned to the program requirements and brewery priorities
  • Apply VPO principles
  • Diagnosis of systemic and situational problems and troubleshooting
  • Participation in team structures including acting roles in identified leadership positions within the department
  • Communication of learnings and solutions across various levels of the business

Minimum Requirements

  • BSC, BEng or Btech or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics, Energy or Mechatronics
  • BSC Chemical Engineering
  • BSC/BTech Biotechnology, Analytical Chemistry or Chemistry or Biology
