DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures all work procedures are carried out in accordance with safety standards and safety practices.
- Plans production targets.
- Ensures measures to achieve production targets.
- Attends to and solves problems in areas of responsibility.
- Plans, organises, leads and controls activities in the mining operations process.
- Co-ordinates drilling and blasting operations.
- Charges shot holes with primed explosives.
- Installs initiating systems used in blasting operations underground.
- Time blasting rounds or circuits on a face where shock tubes are used.
- Initiates blasts from a central blasting cubicle on the surface.
- Treats and removes misfires
- Receives, handles, stores and issues explosives and accessories at a workplace.
- Destroys old explosives in an underground workplace.
- Installs and removes pipes, ventilation columns and accessories.
- Removes obstructions from ore passes by means of blasting.
- Transports persons, material and equipment by means of a light delivery vehicle (LDV) in an underground mine.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To conduct Time and Attendance administration at the shafts / Processing
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12/STD 10(With Mathematics)
- Recognised relevant Trade Certificate or NTC 2 specialised course
- 1-3 years relevant experience
COMPETENCIES:
- Demonstrate knowledge Pertaining to basic health and safety principles in the workplace
- Demonstrate knowledge of safe working loads
- Demonstrate understanding of the importance of planning and rigging operations prior to lifting the load
- Demonstrate knowledge and Appling regulatory requirements pertaining to rigging operations
- Demonstrate knowledge of specialised rigging equipment (spreader beams, etc)
- Demonstrate knowledge of applying regulatory requirements pertaining to crane operations
- Demonstrate knowledge of the functions and the operation of signalling arrangements and safety devices in the shaft
- Demonstrate and awareness of customer services
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Attends to callouts with regards to mechanical breakdowns
- Designs basics mechanical components
- Plans, organises and controls the erection, alteration/re-positioning and dismantling of loads bearing scaffoldings
- Determines lifting and moving requirements (weights and sizes of objects) rigging equipment’s (design, loads. Length, etc
- Splices cables according to required standard (Thimbles) and prevents ends from fraying
- Erects, alters/repulsions and dismantles access and loads bearing
- Conducts routine inspections on elevators
- Inspects, prepares and uses man lift carriages for work elevating heights
- Piot’s materials and equipment in the shaft
- Transports material and equipment in the shaft barrels
- Replaces conveyances in the shaft
