Job Description:

As an AOM Clerkyou will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Adhere to all health and safety practices requirements and promote good housekeeping to ensure compliance and an environment where team members can deliver their outputs within a controlled risk environment.
  • Manage general office tasks, including diary management and order processing, to support the team’s goals.
  • Capture SAP Work Order (WO) feedback in SAP according to business guidelines.
  • Record minutes during section meetings to maintain accurate records.
  • Administer time-related documents and keep track of timesheets.
  • Issue incentive vouchers to employees upon achieving safety goals.
  • Handle documentation following company policies and procedures within specified time frames.
  • Organise and file documents according to document control requirements.
  • Provide support based on individual competence and the supervisor’s instructions to meet functional objectives.

This role is in the Engineering & Maintenance (E&M) Plant discipline at an A5 level (B4/ B5 Grade) reporting to the Planning & Scheduling Advisor/Engineering Supervisor RRT/Planning Advisor

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 Certificate/N3 Technical
  • Valid SA Drivers Licence

Experience

  • 2-3 years of relevant administrative experience.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific safety standards and regulations to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Understand the components and functionality of vehicles and equipment to ensure proper maintenance and operation.
  • Can interpret detailed component drawings, blueprints, and shop manuals for accurate repair and maintenance.

Purpose

The purpose of this role is to support the development and execution of the non-financial reporting process and auditability of the non-financial data. This will include ensuring the required data is available for compliance with global reporting regulations; responsibility for scope 3 data collection and management of the 3rd party undertaking calculations; the definition, documentation and implementation of ESG reporting controls and attestation process (including working with local teams to implement and embed); and managing the execution of the ESG data external assurance process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage execution of the BAU external sustainability assurance process including Business and SME engagements, planning, documentation and execution. Work with broader team to integrate internal and external assurance plans as well as internal control framework requirements.
  • Support the Sustainability Reporting and Assurance Manager in providing the data required to ensure compliance with relevant sustainability reporting laws and regulations as defined by Group Sustainability.
  • Coordinate the Group’s ESG external data reporting input process in line with requirements and calculation methodologies established by Group Sustainability and relevant SMEs.  This includes managing the third party responsible for the scope 3 calculations; building and maintaining close relationships with key stakeholders, and reviewing the data provided for reporting variances.
  • Support development, implementation and management of the Group’s ESG Minimum Reporting Controls and Attestation process over externally reported ESG data.
  • Management of completeness of group ESG data submissions in accordance with timetable.
  • Work with Sustainability Strategy & Governance team to articulate the financial information required to be tracked going forwards for internal and external reporting purposes.  Coordinate the inputs required from the relevant finance teams (at group and locally) to ensure consistent and reliable data collection processes.
  • Support the Manager Sustainability Reporting & Assurance in delivery of project work relating to ESG reporting and assurance.
  • Foster strong, ongoing relationships with Businesses, SMEs and sustainability data-owners.
  • Facilitate an effective, efficient and pragmatic working relationship between Group Finance, Group Sustainability and the Businesses, ensuring knowledge is shared between teams and supporting upskilling of all teams.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and new regulations related to sustainability and integrated reporting.

Qualifications:

Knowledge

  • Experience in financial reporting, financial planning & analysis, assurance, risk and controls.
  • Experience in financial modelling.
  • Experience in sustainability data and disclosures, and non-financial reporting.
  • Understanding of different stakeholder needs and expectations, as well as global context, in relation to sustainability.

Provide dedicated coordination and oversight to strengthen the organisation’s Combined Assurance model, improving assurance quality, governance maturity, and management visibility through a unified, enterprise-wide view of risk. The role enables effective planning, alignment, and monitoring of assurance activity across the 2nd and 3rd lines.

The Work – Key Outputs and Accountabilities

  1. Planning
    • Coordinate and maintain the annual Combined Assurance Plan.
    • Facilitate alignment of all assurance activities with the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework to ensure sufficient coverage.
    • Develop, standardise and maintain assurance planning templates.
    • Update and maintain 2nd line methodology playbook
    • Engage assurance providers across 2nd and 3rd line to ensure coordinated coverage of strategic, operational, and business risks.
  2. Execution and framework maintenance
    • Maintain and continuously enhance the Combined Assurance framework, playbook, and methodologies.
    • Coordinate assurance activities across 2nd and 3rd lines of assurance to prevent duplication and ensure comprehensive coverage and review 2nd line methodologies are aligned with 2nd line playbook requirements
    • Track execution of assurance work against the plan.
  3. Reporting and analysis
    • Follow up with 2nd line assurance providers on progress with plan and prepare status summary for audit committee
    • Leveraging the new 3rd line rating scale, collaborate with 2nd line assurance providers to develop an integrated view of assurance results to provide greater insight into the effectiveness of processes for managing Group and business-level risks.

  • Apply Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) concepts to map assurance activity to key Group and business risks, identify coverage gaps and minimise duplication across 2nd and 3rd line providers.
  • Maintain and update Combined Assurance framework documentation (playbooks, methodologies and guidance), ensuring alignment to agreed 2nd line methodology requirements.
  • Support the tracking execution of assurance work against plan and produce clear status reporting for governance forums (e.g., Audit Committee), including actions, slippage and emerging themes.
  • Analyse assurance results (including use of rating scales) to support an integrated view of assurance and insights on the effectiveness of controls and risk management.
  • Use data and reporting tools (e.g., Excel/Power BI and relevant audit/assurance systems such as TeamMate) to consolidate inputs, manage dashboards and support evidence-based decision-making.

  • Ultra-truck operating:
    • Inspect equipment according to prescribed standards at the beginning of the shift and record in the inspection list:
  • Inspect the safe working condition of the multiple safety devices, e.g., collision avoidance system, cameras, fatigue monitoring system, fire suppression system, vehicle stability, as well as the general condition and safety of the truck, tyres, etc., to prevent damage and injury to people and to minimise financial losses.
  • Check fire extinguishers and lock-out devices and report any deviations immediately to the supervisor.
  • Participate in a multi-skilled initiative per the agreed schedule to offset the support equipment.
  • Visually inspect equipment conditions at the end of the shift, report deviations to the supervisor and follow up on abnormalities.
  • Inspect loading and dumping areas visually for any deviations to ensure effective hauling, prevention of tyre damage and elimination of safety hazards.
    • Follow predetermined routes within the complex haul road network, including multiple pits with loading and dumping destinations with specific road signs, adhere to regulations, and follow prescribed hauling standards.
    • Load Haul trucks and dump ore/waste according to standards within the set cycle time.
    • Maintain truck efficiency and optimal speed control by frequently engaging with other equipment operators and road construction teams to ensure optimal cycle times.
    • Engage with the Shovel operator to ensure optimal loads; the loading scaled information and communication with the shovel operator to ensure accurate loading.
    • Manage various scenarios, i.e. hauling, tipping in adverse weather conditions, fire prevention, double-sided loading, guided spotting, and manual dispatch.
    • Responsible for safe operation and adherence to specific legislation, i.e., vehicle control, which is reportable to legislative bodies like the DMRE.
    • Ensure efficient truck dispatch over and above what the system stipulates by continuously engaging with team members, supervisors, and the dispatch control room, mainly when unplanned events occur.
    • Respond to any deviations from procedures and practices, i.e. when HPIs occur, explain practically how procedures and practices were adhered to and can be enhanced, which leads to system- and procedural improvements.
    • Report any equipment defects and malfunctions to the control room as soon as they occur and report any procedural deviations to the supervisor.
    • Participate in the investigations of vehicle-related incidents, i.e. fire incidents, vehicle interaction HPIs, property damage, etc.
    • Assist supervisor and co-workers when required or instructed.
  • Clean and Environmentally Friendly Work Area:
    • Maintain good housekeeping standards.
    • Clean equipment with the appropriate tools.
    • Participate in cleaning activities performed beyond the allocated area.

Job Description:

Duration: 6 Months Fixed Term Contract

The Miner: Development is responsible for controlling the development mining process by the optimal utilisation of people and equipment to achieve stipulated targets in accordance with the mining plan.

The incumbent is accountable for:

  • Coordinating and monitoring development mining activities to ensure adherence to mine standards and operational targets
  • Planning activities in accordance with the mining plan and allocating resources as required
  • Coordinating shift hand over at the beginning of the shift by checking relevant documentation, the required physical mining activities and communicating tasks to team members of the development mining crew
  • Comply with requirements as per a miner’s appointment under the MHSA
  • Good written English and oral communication including public speaking in front of large groups

Qualifications:

Education required:

  • Grade 12 / N3 / Equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
  • Blasting Certificate for Underground Hard Rock / Equivalent qualification Experience & knowledge required:
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ underground mining experience as a Development Miner of which at least 1 year must have included the supervisory skills of planning, organising, leading and controlling

Knowledge and understanding of:

  • Underground mining practices
  • Trackless Mining in underground hard rock mine
  • Safety, Health and Environmental Legislation and standards applicable to underground mining
  • Willingness and ability to work shifts, do standby duties, call-outs, and work overtime as per what the role will require

Other requirements:

  • Code B Driver’s License
  • Medical Certificate of Fitness to work underground
  • The post is dependent on the successful completion of the Company’s pre-employment protocol such as qualifications verification, relevant psychometric assessments and a clear security clearance

Drill Rig Operator (6 Months Fixed Term Contract)

Job Description:

Duration: 6 Months Fixed Term Contract

DeBeers Consolidated Mines is looking for drill rig operators with extensive experience at installation of primary support, secondary support and face drilling with a double boom split feed drill rig (Sandvik DD421, DD420, DD321, DD320).

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a culture of zero harm by adhering to all requirements as laid down by legislation and health, safety, environmental and security policies and procedures, and by the application of specific instructions to own work area and task completion.
  • Installation of welded mesh support with split sets and roofbolts by means of the drill rig in accordance with a predetermined support pattern.
  • Take-over/ hand over shift from off/on-going drill rig operator, attend to any abnormalities first, and then report to the supervisor to receive further instructions.
  • Perform visual Inspections of equipment before, and during operation according to departmental procedure to minimise breakdowns and operational losses by the timeous reporting of defects / abnormalities to Supervisor.
  • Operate equipment according to relevant mining requirements and standard operating procedures to achieve daily task.
  • Report and record relevant operational data as required by department procedures to compile production reports.
  • Conduct efficient housekeeping of equipment and work area in accordance with departmental requirements.
  • Perform all activities according to instructions, procedures and mining needs.
  • Participate in cost saving initiatives and adhere to financial procedures
  • Assist the engineering personnel with breakdown maintenance as well as planned maintenance activities
  • Accountable for own workspace and activities.

Qualifications:

Formal qualifications

  • Grade 12/N3/ Equivalent NQF level 4 qualification
  • MQA Competent A and B Certificate for underground
  • Double Boom Drill Rig Certificate
  • A valid underground metalliferous blasting certificate /MQA Rock Breaking Certificate will be advantageous.

 Experience required

  • Minimum 3 years practical experience operating double boom split feed drill rig in a trackless mechanised underground mining environment
  • Install primary support with welded wire mesh, split sets and resin bolts.
  • Drill and install long anchors with a double boom drill rig
  • Competent to support and drill multiple development ends in one shift
  • Experience with Sandvik double boom drill rigs will be a definite advantage
  • Experience in trackless mechanised high-speed development is advantageous
  • The incumbent will be required to work shifts

Additional requirement

  • Code B or higher Driver’s License
  • Required classification as per VTS testing for specific role (Orange +)
  • Medical Certificate of Fitness to work underground
