SDS PRACTITIONER (PART-TIME)

The Directorate of Student Development and Support (SDS) in Higher Education and
Development has a 6-month part-time (19 hours per week) SDS Practitioner
(Psychological Services) position available
INSTRUCTIONS: Applicants are required to submit together with the CV’s, a
standardized application form available from the university intranet as well as recently
certified copies of qualifications and identity document. Failure to comply with this
instruction will disqualify the candidate.
Critical Performance Areas:
- Personal counselling and therapy
- Psycho-education workshops and activations
- Other SDS activities
Minimum requirements:
- Academic qualifications:
A relevant Master’s Degree (NQF level 9) in Counselling, Clinical or Educational
Psychology.
- Experience:
3 years directly relevant counselling and therapy experience.
- Registration with professional body (if applicable):
Registration as a clinical, counselling, or educational psychologist with the HPCSA.
- Knowledge and Skills

- Counselling portfolios related to psychological support focus areas:
Professional knowledge of skills development and support functions: human
behavior: counselling (individual, group), psycho-education. - Ability to work with people individually and in teams in a partnership and leadership
relationship. - Ability to counsel and mentor and provide guidance.
- Ability to prioritize and organize, function independently and take responsibility for
tasks. - Ability to take initiative and to be creative and innovative.
- Ability to apply a professional code of ethics and maintain confidentiality
