Duties:
Providing administrative and secretarial support for the academic and clinical personnel involved with the undergraduate clinical training programme of the Physiotherapy Division. The post entails a wide variety of functions relating to organising, coordinating and monitoring, including, but are not limited to:
Providing administrative support to clinical coordinators/clinical programme chairperson of the Division.
Providing administrative support to students, clinical supervisors/clinicians which form part of the Division’s clinical training.
Managing students¿ clinical marks on the University’s central system (e.g. SUNStudent; FMHSLearn Gradebook).
Convening and providing administrative support (compiling agenda, minute taking) of the Clinical Services and Social Impact divisional committee.
Divisional liaising with Stellenbosch University Logistics for the Clinical Training Platform (SUNLOC).
Arranging and providing administrative support of module meetings.
Making travel and accommodation arrangements for external examiners.

About the Unit
The NuMeRI NII PET-CT Unit hosted by the Central Analytical Facilities (CAF) of Stellenbosch University (SU) at Tygerberg Hospital (TBH) in Cape Town, South Africa, undertakes clinical and
research imaging across oncology, cardiology, neurology, pulmonology, and infectious diseases. A broad range of radiopharmaceuticals is used, many of them labelled on site in the Unit’s own
radiopharmacy. As an EARL-accredited PET-CT Centre of Excellence, the Unit produces harmonised, trial-grade quantitative imaging and supports national and international research
collaborations.
The NII has a close working relationship with both TBH and with SU’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS), through its Divisions of Nuclear Medicine and Radiodiagnosis.
The aim of CAF (including the NII) is to ensure optimal utilisation of expensive multi-user research equipment in the service of the research community. NII operations can be divided into three
categories:
Research;
Private clinical practice (for cost recovery purposes);
Reciprocal support of state service provision when required and capacity allowing.

We are seeking a specialist radiologist to join our multidisciplinary team. This unique position combines research image analysis, clinical reporting, and academic collaboration in a
state-of-the-art PET-CT and radiopharmacy research facility. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in advancing medical imaging research while contributing to clinical service delivery.

Clinical Interpretation and Reporting
Clinical interpretation of PET-CT (majority) and SPECT-CT studies in collaboration with nuclear physicians.
Clinical interpretation of other medical imaging studies (CT, MRI, US, x-ray, mammography).
Attending multidisciplinary team meetings to present CAF/NII studies.
To the extent that capacity allows, contributing towards the clinical service of TBH’s Divisions of Radiodiagnosis and Nuclear Medicine, including reporting.
Research Imaging Analysis
Research analysis and reporting of medical imaging studies for research clients, including extraction of quantitative imaging parameters, reporting according to research protocols, and
completion of clinical research forms (training provided).
Applying standardised response assessment systems (e.g. RECIST) to clinical trial imaging.
Refining existing CAF/NII imaging protocols and workflows, including development of new protocols, to maximise sustainability and research impact of the Unit.
Contributing to planning of medical imaging services provided by CAF/NII to such an extent that the research interests of the national research community are best served and can
function cost-effectively and sustainably.
Patient Care and Clinical Supervision
On-site clinical supervision and management of patients and research participants on the day of their studies, which may include assistance with difficult IV access, prescription of
medications, interviewing patients, and limited in-person clinical patient care.
Upholding patient and participant privacy in compliance with POPIA and GCP requirements.
Strategic, Operational, and Quality Assurance
Using and limited management of the NII PACS-RIS platforms.
Contributing to management of the NII as a member of the Unit management team.
Contributing to the close and effective operational relationship between CAF/NII and TBH.
Collaborating with clinicians and researchers, including management of relationships and communication with clients of the Unit.
Reporting directly to the NII Director.

The Hans Merensky Chair in Advanced Modelling of Eucalypt Growth and Wood Formation (EucXylo) is a research programme based in the Department of Forest and Wood Science at Stellenbosch University (SU) and funded by the Hans Merensky Legacy Foundation. The programme conducts a range of research into the growth and development of the important genus Eucalyptus. From 2024, a new 10 ha research facility at Lourensford near Somerset West, the IMPACT OAL, has become the main focus of EucXylo’s research. Trees of four species have been planted at different densities to better understand how they respond to various stressors in the environment. The trees and environment are constantly monitored by a wide variety of electronic sensors (e.g. weather station, sap flow, soil water content, tree diameter). Regular measurements and sampling are being conducted at the site using various techniques. One key goal of EucXylo is to use samples obtained from the IMPACT OAL to understand xylogenesis and changes in wood chemical properties in Eucalyptus under various environmental stressors.
Duties/Pligte
Leading innovative research in quantitative wood anatomy and wood chemistry, focusing on xylogenesis and wood formation processes in Eucalyptus.
Publishing research results in internationally recognised, peer-reviewed journals and presenting the results at national and international conferences.
Recruiting and supervising postgraduate students at MSc and PhD levels.
Attracting third-stream funding through grant applications and collaborations.
Developing and strengthening regional, national and international research networks and collaborations with academic institutions and the forestry industry.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
PhD in a relevant field, including Natural Science or a bioscience such as Plant Physiology, Microbiology or Molecular Biology, with a strong focus on plant or tree performance, ecophysiology, plant anatomy and/or plant-environment interactions.
Demonstrated experience, together with evidence of specialised training, in quantitative wood anatomy (QWA), and advanced techniques relevant to plant anatomy research, particularly confocal Raman microscopy, fluorescence microscopy and quantitative image analysis.
A minimum of five years’ postdoctoral and/or relevant professional experience within forestry, plant physiology or related research environments.
Proven experience in establishing, coordinating and managing large-scale field and nursery trials, including sensor-based monitoring systems, dataloggers and ecophysiological instrumentation.
Experience in supervising and mentoring postgraduate students and providing practical instruction at undergraduate level.
Proven track record of preparing research outputs, peer-reviewed publications, technical reports and funding reports for research stakeholders and funders.

The Faculty of Law at Stellenbosch University (SU) is looking to fill a vacancy in the Department of Private Law. The Department of Private Law is responsible for teaching several of the core modules in the LLB curriculum. Innovus is the technology transfer office of Stellenbosch University (SU). We are responsible for the commercialisation of the University’s intellectual property (IP) and innovations through licensing, spin-out formation, and collaborative partnerships. In addition, Innovus supports entrepreneurial initiatives and innovation capacity-building across SU.
We are seeking a motivated and dynamic Technology Transfer Officer to join our team and contribute to bridging the gap between academic research and real-world impact.
Job Description
As a Technology Transfer Officer, you will support the identification, protection, development, and commercialisation of innovations arising from the University’s research activities. You will engage with researchers, industry partners, investors, and internal stakeholders to facilitate technology transfer activities that advance both commercial potential and societal impact.
The role requires a combination of technical or scientific understanding, business insight, relationship-building ability, and strong communication skills. Prior exposure to innovation, entrepreneurship, commercialisation, intellectual property, or business development environments will be advantageous, although candidates with strong transferable skills and the ability to grow into the role are also encouraged to apply.
The Technology Transfer Officers also support the senior Technology Transfer professionals with desktop research, reports, presentations, due diligence, etc., related to SU inventions.
We are looking for a high performing, competent and confident individual with high energy levels, who is an excellent communicator, acts proactively and have great time management skills.

Key Responsibilities
Networking and Stakeholder Engagement
Developing and maintaining relationships with SU’s academic and research community to stimulate innovation and intellectual property (IP) awareness.
Supporting innovation disclosure and engagement activities across the University.
Building and maintaining relationships with external industry partners, investors, entrepreneurs, and innovation ecosystem stakeholders.
Representing SU at conferences, networking events, workshops, and stakeholder engagements.
Coordinating and supporting initiatives that showcase SU innovations and entrepreneurial activities.
Technology Evaluation and Intellectual Property Support
Reviewing and assessing technology disclosures for technical merit, potential applications, and commercial opportunities.
Conducting market, industry, and prior art research to support commercialisation and IP decision-making and to establish commercial potential and market size.
Assessing the technology readiness level of inventions and establishing the development needs, time and roadmap to bring the product or service closer to the market.
Supporting the development and implementation of appropriate IP protection strategies in collaboration with patent attorneys and internal stakeholders.
Assisting with developing commercialisation pathways, including licensing, partnerships, and spin-out opportunities.
Commercialisation and Business Development
Identifying potential commercial and industry partners for SU technologies and innovations.
Proactively engaging with potential commercial partners to licence or sell SU technology to them.
Preparing high quality marketing material for SU technologies.
Supporting marketing and commercialisation activities for SU innovations locally and internationally.
Assisting with the preparation and coordination of licensing agreements, partnership arrangements, and other commercial transactions.
Contributing to the development of commercialisation plans, business cases, and opportunity assessments for high-potential innovations.
Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to support ongoing commercial relationships and innovation projects.
Communication and Strategic Support
Developing and contributing to marketing and communication material for Innovus technologies and initiatives.
Supporting content development for Innovus digital platforms, including websites, newsletters, and social media.
Contributing to reporting, project tracking, and internal documentation related to technology transfer activities.
Collaborating with the broader Innovus team, SU LaunchLab, and other internal partners on innovation and entrepreneurial development initiatives.
Contributing to the continuous improvement of technology transfer and innovation support practices within SU.
Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
A postgraduate qualification (master’s degree, or equivalent) in science, engineering, or a related field.
Relevant experience or exposure in innovation, research commercialisation, entrepreneurship, business development, technology transfer, intellectual property, technology sales, or related environments.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
The ability to engage effectively with student, academic, research, industry, and entrepreneurial stakeholders.
Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
The ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Proficiency in standard business software applications, including MS Office.
Willingness to travel.
Own transport and a valid driver’s licence.

Project management experience or training.
Experience in using digital and artificial intelligence tools in an ethical and constructive manner to support productivity and communication.
Established industry or innovation ecosystem networks would be advantageous.

The IT Shared Services, Governance and Risk Management within the Information Technology (IT) Division at Stellenbosch University (SU) is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to lead the IT Audits (internal, external and other auditing activity related to forensic investigations, data breach investigation and cyber incidents) function. The Head: IT Governance and Audits is responsible for the coordination and support of all IT audit activities across the institution, ensures that the audit engagements with both internal and external auditors are effectively planned, managed and closed out; is the contact between the IT Division, SU stakeholders and the audit teams to ensure that audits request are addressed, evidence is accurately gathered and corrective actions are implemented; and provides guidance on compliance with relevant frameworks, policies and regulatory requirements to reduce audit risks and improve overall IT governance.
Duties/Pligte
Planning, coordinating and overseeing audit engagements, ensuring timely completion of audit request.
Facilitating audit kick-off meetings and overseeing the entire audit process, ensuring effective communication and collaboration between stakeholders.
Leading project planning for audit-related mitigations and follow-up actions.
Serving as the primary liaison between Stellenbosch University (SU), internal teams, internal and external auditors.
Ensuring alignment of audit activities with industry frameworks and standards, including COBIT, NIST, TOGAF, and ITIL.
Overseeing and guiding IT control testing, ensuring comprehensive coverage and effectiveness.
Providing expert advice on IT governance, risk, and compliance matters.
Preparing and presenting audit findings, recommendations, and reports to senior management.
Driving continuous improvement in audit processes and methodologies.
Maintaining awareness of IT controls, cybersecurity requirements and compliance obligations.
Identifying process gaps and supporting continuous improvement in IT governance and compliance.
Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
NQF Level 8 in an IT, computer science, auditing or IT related field with five years’ experience in IT audit, IT compliance or IT risk management, OR NQF Level 7 in an IT, computer science, auditing or IT related with eight years’ experience in IT audit, IT compliance or IT risk management.
Proven experience in IT audit management, governance, and risk within a complex organisation.
Strong knowledge of and practical experience with COBIT, NIST, TOGAF, and ITIL frameworks.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple audits and projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and report-writing skills.
Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
The ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
The ability to translate technical IT evidence into audit-ready documentation.
Recommendation/Aanbeveling
Professional certifications such as CISA, CRISC, CGEIT, or similar will be advantageous.

identify opportunities for simplification.
The Lead Business Architect will play a key role in identifying, documenting, illustrating and contextualising the institution’s interconnectedness of people, processes, technology and other systems to enable the relevant role players to work towards:

reduce cost and promote simplification by developing a roadmap and runway for growth and innovation.
Duties/Pligte
Leading and managing the business architecture portfolio
Ensuring that job descriptions, work agreements and PDPs are formulated, tracked and updated as needed for direct reports.
Conducting regular check-ins with direct reports and allocated resources within the matrix structure.
Defining, leading and managing the business architecture portfolio
Aligning the business architecture practice to industry standards applicable to IT and higher education environments or others.
Defining, contextualising and aligning the business architecture strategy, goals and objectives to SU’s by working closely with the University’s internal and external stakeholders.
Identifying, defining and implementing relevant domain definitions, standards, patterns, templates, tools, artefacts and outputs to enable a holistic, integrated, up to date view for each business portfolio.
Contributing to the architecture roadmaps and runways based on the inputs received from various stakeholders, the industry, and other sources, to generate insights for decision-making, planning and prioritisation.
Adhering to the institutional architecture’s ways of working across SU.
