Minimum requirements
Qualifications:
- A PhD/Doctorate in a relevant academic field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years in higher education or research institution, including at least 5 years in a leadership role involving academic research.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale research projects and securing research funding.
- Strong leadership, strategic vision, and communication skills to support the academic community and leadership in the University’s drive to deliver cutting-edge research and innovation.
- In-depth knowledge of research ethics, funding mechanisms, and intellectual property rights.
- Sound knowledge of, insight into, and vision of the Higher Education Sector-Research and Innovation landscape, nationally, regionally and internationally.

FACULTY OF ENGINEERING, BUILT ENVIRONMENT AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS AND APPLICATIONS DEVELOPMENT
LECTURER PERMANENT (P8)
REF NO: WS-BCC-FEBEIT 06/2026/04
Key Performance Areas:
- Offer courses in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data and Information Management, etc.
- Prepare, deliver lectures, and assess undergraduate students.
- Prepare and regularly update curricula and course material for lectures in accordance with SAQA, CHE, and DHET requirements and maintain quality assurance.
- Coordinate all student programmes within the department as per the required standard operating procedures.
- Participate in departmental activities as required, including research, continuous professional development, community engagement, partnerships, and collaboration strengthening.
- Contribute towards Faculty and Departmental research initiatives.
- Contribute to Academic citizenship and provide Faculty and University service.
- Assist with Academic administration and Quality Assurance initiatives.
- Perform and carry delegated administrative duties of the department.
Minimum requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Master’s Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science.
- Undergraduate Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science.
Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) year’s academic & research experience in an institution of higher learning.
- Evidence of active participation in professional, industry and/or community activities.
- At least one peer-reviewed article in a scholarly journal.
- Evidence of competence in the administration of a course/subject at the departmental level
Skills and Competencies Required:
- Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate students.
- Ability and willingness to undertake administrative responsibilities.
- Competence in Problem-Based Learning (PBL) facilitation.
- Ability to mentor and guide students in their academic and career development, providing feedback and support for research projects.
- Commitment to ongoing research, staying updated with advancements, and incorporating relevant findings into teaching.
- Strong collaborative skills, working effectively with colleagues, industry professionals, and fostering a collaborative learning environment.
- Proactive approach to improving teaching methods, integrating new technologies such as Moodle, (WiseUp), Microsoft Teams, Zoom & Skype.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to take extra workload.
- High professional integrity and modesty
