Job Purpose
Brief statement outlining the overall purpose/reason for existence of the post (one or two sentences).
To assist the South African Human Rights Commission (the Commission) in the performance of its
financial, administrative, and clerical functions. In this regard, provide strategic leadership, direction,
and guidance to the Secretariat of the SAHRC to ensure the effective management of the affairs and
operations of the Commission. Perform duties as assigned by the South African Human Rights
Commission Act (Act 40 of 2013). Perform duties of an Accounting Officer as prescribed in the Public
Finance Management Act (PFMA) (Act 1 of 1999 as amended).

THE SAHRC IS CURRENTLY SEEKING TO APPOINT CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO) THROUGH HEADHUNTING (5 Year fixed-term contract).
. Commencement Date: 01 August 2026
. Total Annual Remuneration Package: R2 446 749
Minimum Educational Requirement: Master’s Degree or equivalent NQF level 9 qualification in the areas of Law, International Relations, Public Administration, Social Sciences or a relevant discipline.
Required Experience: A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a senior management role (preferably public sector experience or human rights), including 4 years’ experience operating at an executive level capacity. Experience in the development of an organizational strategy plus preparation and management of strategic plans, operational plans, and experience in managing large budgets. Knowledge of Corporate Governance and policy development of public sector entities Minimum of 5 years’ experience in human rights or related fields Previous experience in the management of a government institution or an NGO would be an added advantage.
