The role:
The role is required to supervise and control a security shift responsible for security operations on the mine as well as ensuring the safety and security of employees, materials and facilities.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- The Senior Protection Officer’s role supports the Protection Services Manager in managing resources and investigating security breaches
- The incumbent must assist the Protection Services Manager in managing the appropriate systems within the operation to minimize risks relating to the security of employees and assets, provide leadership and support to subordinates
- Build relations with the community and local law enforcement agencies
- Managing information gathering systems within the Operation to support management decision making for the protection of assets and employees
- Identify and analyse risks and threats timeously and pro-actively, review implemented measures for effectiveness
- Assist with the development of protection services procedures and ensure that it is implemented accordingly
- Review safety and security status at various posts on site of operations and develop and review procedures to manage risks
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance with procedures
- Prepare and submit reports on security related activities
- Conduct training for the in-house & contracted protection services personnel
Requirements:
- Basic Investigation certificate
- National Higher certificate (2nd year completed in Security Management or equivalent)
- Registered with Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) – minimum Grade A
- Valid Firearm competency certificate
- Minimum 5 years in Security Supervisory position
- Minimum 3 years’ service in investigations
- Experience in managing diverse teams (external service providers)
- Proven track record in security management, criminal investigations and Safety and Health management
- Knowledge of relevant legislation including: Criminal Procedures Act, Statute Law, Security Officers Act, Law of Evidence, Mine Health and Safety Act & Labour Law
- Be prepared to undergo Behavioural Assessment and Firearm Competency Assessment
- Problem solving skills
- Report writing skills
- Computer literate (MS Office)
- Valid code 08 EB driver’s license
- In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness
Advantageous:

The role:

The role:
The role is responsible for security services to protect company assets, employees, contractors, visitors and facilities in operations, as well as ensuring safety of security personnel.

- Effective security personnel oversee and ensure that the deployment of security staff is in accordance with requirements
- Ensure that security personnel carry out their duties in accordance with established standards and procedures

- Placing of orders for resourcing of survey equipment and filing of signed off receipts of survey notes
- Responsible to assist Survey Manager & Section Surveyor in identifying and notifying operations and engineering regarding mining restrictions imposed by the MHSA for protection of features that needs protection
Requirements:
- Chamber of Mines Certificate in Draughting
- Diploma (CAD) plus demonstrated competency in operating a GIS
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as Draughtsperson / Junior Surveyor
- Member of the GIS fraternity & membership of IMSSA
- In depth knowledge of design standards
- Knowledge of prescriptions of statutory plans in MHSA
- Experience and knowledge to convert sketches in working drawings
