LEGAL ANALYST

GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES PENSION FUND

With more than 1.2 million active members and around 480 000 pensioners and
beneficiaries as well as assets worth more than R2.69 trillion, the Government
Employees Pension Fund is a defined benefit fund that manages pensions and
related benefits on behalf of government employees in South Africa. It is the
largest pension fund in South Africa and Africa. The GEPF is currently seeking
to appoint a suitably qualified individual with relevant experience in the Legal
Analyst role within the Corporate Services Department.

The purpose of this role is to ensure that the organisation operates within legal and regulatory
framework by conducting in-depth legal research and advice, drafting and reviewing contracts,
and providing support in litigation or legal dispute processes.

Qualifying requirements:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (NQF Level 7)
  • Admitted Attorney in the Court of South Africa
  • Minimum of 7 years’ relevant legal experience of which 5 years should be post admission
    experience in corporate legal providing legal analysis, contract drafting and reviewing,
    litigation support and legal research
  • Experience in Financial Services is an added advantage

SPECIALIST: INDIRECT FUNDS AND CO-INVESTMENTS X2

assets worth more than R2.69 trillion, the Government Employees Pension Fund is a defined benefit fund
that manages pensions and related benefits on behalf of government employees in South Africa. It is
the largest pension fund in South Africa and Africa. The GEPF is currently seeking to appoint a suitably
qualified individuals with the relevant experience to fill two positions of a Specialist: Indirect Funds and
Co-Investments within the Investments Department.

The purpose of this role is to implement, monitor and report on the GEPF’s internally managed private markets
investment portfolio. The incumbent will evaluate and manage a portfolio of private market funds and co-investments
while supporting portfolio performance, compliance monitoring, valuations, due diligence and investment strategy
implementation.

Qualifying requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Accounting, Business Science, Economics, Finance, Investment Management
    or a related field.
  • Postgraduate qualification or progress towards a professional qualification such as CFA or CAIA will be
    advantageous.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in Investment Analysis, Institutional Investing, Portfolio
    Monitoring and Reporting, Private Equity Transactions and Mergers & Acquisitions.
  • Strong knowledge of private market investments, valuations and portfolio performance monitoring.
