Controller: Exports – Freight Forwarding
Job Function
To provide operational and administrative support for export shipments within the Road Freight Department by coordinating export movements, preparing and capturing customs documentation and entries, liaising with clients and service providers, and ensuring compliance with customs and transport regulations. The Export Controller is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of export consignments from booking through to final delivery
Key Performance Areas:
Export Operations
- Receive and process export instructions from clients.
- Ensure export shipments documentation are issued in line with customer requirements and agreed timelines.
- Assist in resolving operational issues and shipment delays. Customs Entry Processing
- Prepare, capture, and submit export customs entries accurately and timeously.
- Verify commercial invoices, packing lists, permits, certificates, and supporting documentation. Ensure correct tariff classifications, customs procedures, and valuation information are applied. Liaise with customs authorities and border agencies regarding export declarations and clearance requirements.
- Monitor customs releases and address any customs queries or stops.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of customs legislation, policies and export compliance requirements.

Documentation Management
- Compile and review export documentation for completeness and accuracy.

Compliance and Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations, policies, company procedures and Policies, and service level agreements.

- Maintain accurate shipment records and operational reports.
- Support internal and external audit requirements when necessary.
Financial Administration
- Verify supplier invoices against operational requirements.
- Assist with obtaining rates and preparing client quotations when required.
- Ensure jobs are accurately costed and completed within operational systems.
- Assist with invoice preparation and supporting documentation where required.
Overtime & Weekend support
- The nature of this role requires flexibility in working hours.
- Employees will be expected to work reasonable overtime when operational requirements demand it and participate in an alternating weekend on-call roster to provide support for after-hours and weekend operations.

Supervisor: Customs – Freight Forwarding
Job Function
Oversee and manage company’s Customs operations. The role will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all Customs regulations and procedures, while facilitating the smooth clearance and Customs release of goods through international borders.
Key Performance Areas:
- Ensure customer requirements are met and exceeded
- Ensure the assigning of entries within 1 hour of appearing on the dashboard
- Ensure adhoc shipments not appearing on the dashboard are manually assigned, cleared and released
- Assist with entry framing and quality assurance of bills of entries particularly in peak and high-volume periods to maintain the effective and timely turn-around of shipments for clearance
- Constantly manage and maintain the Clearance dashboard identifying any bottlenecks in all segments of the dashboard and immediately intervene to resolve
- Assist with Tariffing and similar queries from/for Internal and External stakeholders
- Strictly monitor the fair allocation of entries to entry clerks and continuously strive for the same day clearance for all shipments appearing on the before 15H30
- Manage and maintain the entry clerk error rate folder on shared drive
- Manage and maintain the weekend roster ensuring that adequate coverage is available in the entry framing, quality assurance and EDI submission processes
- Comply with Customs (Legislative) requirements by ensuring all permits, rebates, certificates, etc are available on record and timeously obtained from Customers
- Ensure all documentation necessary for capturing Bills of Entry including Clearing Instruction, Suppliers Commercial Invoice(s), Packing List(s), Bill of Lading / MAWB / HAWB, etc is obtained
- Continuously upskill, mentor and train entry clerks to an advanced level
- Ensure timely action on queries, requests and special attendance and follow through with feedback to the originator
- Ensure all queries are resolved timeously with internal and external stakeholders.
- All issues must be escalated to Customs Manager as soon as it is identified.
- Able to work shifts and weekends as the business need requires

Job Context
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Supervisor: Imports & Exports to coordinate and manage all import and export activities, ensuring the efficient, compliant, and cost-effective movement of goods. The successful candidate will oversee end-to-end import and export processes, manage freight movements, maintain regulatory compliance, and serve as the key liaison between internal stakeholders, suppliers, agents, freight forwarders, and service providers.

- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in import/export logistics, shipping, freight forwarding, customs clearance, or trade compliance.
- Experience managing international freight movements, including sea freight and road freight operations.
- Experience within FMCG, perishables, manufacturing, or regulated goods environments will be advantageous.
- Proven experience coordinating multiple shipments and managing complex logistics activities.
Technical Skills

Job Function:
To coordinate and manage the procurement of transport services through approved subcontractors and transport partners, ensuring the on-time and in-full delivery of customer loads while achieving cost, service, compliance, and operational objectives in line with company standards and procedures.

Manager: Transport and Warehouse Operations
Job Function
To manage the processes, teams and resources accountable for stock management and on-time and in-full delivery of stock, contributing to operational effectiveness, client / customer satisfaction, reduced risk, profitability and compliance to relevant policies and regulatory requirements
Key Performance Areas:
Operational Procedures
- Ensure company policies and procedures are in place and always adhered to – regular audits to be conducted and reported on.
- Ensure that return on assets (manpower and equipment are maximized)
- Ensure that Health and Safety requirements are complied with
Financial
- Develop annual budget and control monthly expenditure in line with budget.
- Authorize payment for invoices received from suppliers monthly.
- Authorize all expense claims in depot
- Control and authorization of purchase orders and requisitions.
- Warehouse
- Ensure that all functional efficiencies are reviewed daily, weekly and monthly and that corrective action is taken where appropriate.
- Assist Principal during depot visits.
- Ensure that housekeeping standards are maintained.
- Ensure that all working equipment in warehouse is kept in good working order.
Stock
- Ensure stock counts are coordinated as per agreed schedules and report back the results to the National Inventory Manager and General Manager.
- Ensure that all stock is safely received, stored and handled in line with company procedures.
- Identify all areas to minimize risks of theft and damage and take corrective action where required
- Authorize stock adjustments and damages
- Monitor all stock levels
Human Resources
- Ensure that appraisals are formally conducted twice a year with all CLDC staff
- Ensure that headcount Is monitored and controlled within budget
- Ensure that all employee issues are handled according to the company procedures
- Confirm and sign off all temp / contract staff invoices on a fortnightly / monthly basis.
- Provide headcount statistics on a weekly basis
- Develop annual training budget and plan for depot and Submit to Head office on an annual basis, and to ensure that plan is implemented
- Ensure that staff committees meet at least quarterly and that minutes are provided
Pallets
- Ensure that the pallet account is reconciled on a weekly basis and corrective action taken in respect of variances.
- Weekly statistics on pallets to be maintained and provided on request.
- Any problems or variances to be reported to the Operations Director as soon as the issue arises.
POD’s
- Ensure that necessary controls are in place for POD’s and that these are handed over correctly and timeously.
- Corrective action to be taken on all outstanding POD’S
- Food Safety Member Responsibilities
- Control Food Safety and organize its work in the related department
- Record and report non-conformances on related documentation and report to the food Safety Team Leader
- Ensure relevant training and education of the shop floor staff and employees, and ensure their availability
- Ensure that the Food Safety Management system is established, implemented, maintained and updated for their area of responsibility and to include the HACCP process
- Report to Food Safety Team Leader or General Manager on the effectiveness and suitability of the food safety management system, its requirements and possible failures.
- Liaise with external service providers on matters relating to the Food Safety Management system.
- Attend monthly meetings that address review elements and any changes to the HACCP study will be addressed by the HACCP team
- Ensure the depot complies with relevant standards and regulations, e.g. SANS 10049; SANS 10330; R962; R638 GFSI, HACCP and BRC Global Standard for Storage and Distribution
Qualifications Required:
- Honours degree (NQF Level 8)

Employee Relations (ER) Manager – Coastal Region | PPLE Group
Job Context
The Employee Relations Manager will take full ownership of Employee Relations across the Coastal Region, with primary accountability based at the Phillipi DC in Cape Town. This role is responsible for ensuring consistent, fair, and legally compliant ER practices across multiple Distribution Centres (DC), while managing high-volume disciplinary, grievance, and dispute processes. The role requires a strong operational mindset, deep ER expertise, and the ability to operate independently across geographically dispersed sites.
Key Performance Areas
Regional Employee Relations Management
- Lead and manage all ER activities across the Coastal region (WC, EC, KZN) and other regions as and when required do so.
- Ensure consistent application of disciplinary codes, policies, and procedures across all sites. Standardise ER processes and practices across Distribution Centres.
- Travel to regional sites to support complex ER matters where required.
ER Case Management Manage end-to-end disciplinary, grievance, misconduct, and incapacity processes.
- Chair hearings.
- Ensure procedural and substantive fairness in all ER matters.
- Review chairperson’s hearing recommendations and make necessary inputs.
- Oversee documentation, evidence, and case outcomes.
- Monitor case volumes, trends, and turnaround times across the region.
- Provide monthly report on ER cases.
- Manage all ER matters such objecting to con/arbs, legal representation in terms of CCMA/Bargaining Council rules, application to rescission, application to substitute the bundles of documents during arbitrations, application for postponements etc.
CCMA & Legal Compliance
- Represent the business at CCMA conciliations, arbitrations and other matters at the tribunals across regions.
- Prepare case files, bundles, witness packs, and supporting documentation.
- Liaise with legal representatives where required.
- Support and work with legal team when the matter is referred to any court of law with labour jurisdiction.
- Ensure compliance with:
- Labour Relations Act (LRA)
- Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA)
- Employment Equity (where applicable)
- Company policies
- Attend and escalate any mutual interest disputes to the business.
- Verification of Trade Unions.
- Attend Trade Union meetings.
- Conduct shop stewards training.
- File the minutes of the trade union meetings.
- Deal with organizational rights and seek assistance where applicable.
Stakeholder Support & Capability Building
- Act as the regional ER subject matter expert.
- Conduct training to managers on ER matters.
- Update the business on ER trends.
- Coach and guide line managers and HR teams across multiple sites.
- Build ER capability within operations through training and practical support.
- Ensure consistent and fair application of ER practices across management teams.
Workplace Risk & Industrial Relations
- Identify ER risks, hotspots, and trends across sites.
- Implement proactive interventions to minimise disputes and misconduct.
- Support management in union engagements and industrial action.
- Assist with contingency planning for strikes or labour unrest.
Governance, Reporting & Analytics
- Track and report on:
- ER case volumes and outcomes.
- CCMA referrals and success rates.
- Disciplinary trends (e.g. absenteeism, misconduct).
- Provide regional insights to HR and operational leadership.
- Ensure ER audit readiness and compliance across all sites.
Qualifications & Experience Education
- Diploma or Degree in Labour Relations
- Labour Law or ER specialisation (advantageous)
Experience
- Minimum 5+ years’ Employee Relations experience
- Proven experience in:
- Disciplinary hearings (including complex cases)
- Grievances and incapacity processes
- CCMA proceedings leading up arbitrations
- Experience in multi-site or regional ER roles (strong advantage)
- Experience in high-volume operational environments
- Exposure to unionised environments
- Full knowledge of CCMA and Bargaining Council rules.

Job Function
Vendor invoice processing and payment to be performed accurately and on time, answering accounts payable queries and reconciling supplier statements.
