Purpose of the Internship: The Road Accident Fund is committed to youth skills development, providing learners with an opportunity to gain work-based experience. Applications are invited for the Various Claims Learner from unemployed learners between the age of 18 and 23. The learnership program will run for a period of twelve (12) months. Verification process will be undertaken to verify whether you have previous work anywhere within the Republic of South Africa.
Work based exposure may include the following:
- Assessment of claims,
- Preparing memorandums and summaries,
- Checking correspondence
- Claims investigation in civil or other damages claims
- Experience in the drafting of pleadings or other applications or court processes
- Assessment of damages in civil matters to quantify claims – assessment of injuries, perusal of medico legal reports, other quantum documents ie employment records
- Taking instructions from superiors and preparing file after instructions received or given to other stakeholders – ie counsel, secretary, experts, state attorneys, investogators, , attorneys
- Consultations with attorneys
- Preparation of memorandums to give advice or guidance on management of a claim or leal process
- Ability to interact with a team and adhere to deadlines and awareness of implications of timeframes in line with court rules
- Management of court processes – ie summons and writs – admin skills to be good
