Garden Route District Municipality seeks to achieve the integrated, sustainable, and
equitable socio-economic development of its area as a whole by: • Ensuring
integrated development planning; Promoting bulk infrastructure development •
Building the capacity of local municipalities in its area to perform their functions and
exercise their powers where such capacity is lacking • Promoting the equitable
distribution of resources between local municipalities in its area to ensure appropriate levels
of municipal services.

Applications are invited for the following vacancy in the Office of The Executive Mayor.
CHAUFFEUR
OFFICE OF THE EXECUTIVE MAYOR
(GEORGE)
Fixed-Term Contract

Period of appointment:
The contract period will be equal or linked to the term of office of the current Political
Office Bearer.

Total remuneration package:
Basic salary: R 189 804 – R246 372 per annum (Package will be determined on a CTC
basis)

Minimum Requirements:

  • NQF Level 1 qualification
  • Basic Literacy
  • Valid Code B driver’s license
  • Valid PDP would be an added advantage
  • 3 years relevant driving experience
  • Chauffeuring experience would be an advantage
  • Good understanding of road traffic rules, laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of protocol and etiquette standards
  • Knowledge of processes and actions in providing protection services
  • Language Proficiency in at least two of the three official languages of the Western
    Cape (Afrikaans and/or English and/or Xhosa).
  • The candidate must be willing to work after-hours and on weekends

  • Ability to adjust to driving conditions

Duties will include:

  • Responsible for the transportation and driving of the Executive Mayor
  • Use driving procedures and traffic laws to navigate road systems and driving
    conditions.
  • Safely drive/operate a motor vehicle in a public traffic system.
  • Ensure Work-place Safety compliance – Making sure the vehicle is safe to drive by
    conducting safety inspections (Tyre Pleasure, licence disk, lights, horn, fuel levels,
    windscreen, wipers etc.).
  • Completing of travel logs.
  • Working with law enforcement members to coordinate immediate protective
    services of the Executive Mayor.
  • Initiate and manage appropriate systems/resources to minimise risks relating to the
    security of the Executive Mayor.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12
  • Relevant N6 National Certificate and/or NQF level-5 qualification in Management
    Assist/ Office Management and/or Public Management
  • 3 years relevant experience in effectively interacting with Senior Management/
    officials and the public.
  • Computer Literacy
  • Valid Code B driver’s license
  • Language Proficiency in at least two of the three official languages of the Western
    Cape (Afrikaans and/or English and/or Xhosa).
  • The candidate must be willing to work after-hours and on weekends

  • Good human relations, interpersonal skills
  • Sound written and oral and communication
  • Accuracy and ability to give attention to detail
  • High degree of confidentiality and responsibility

  • Good Planning and organizational skills

Duties will include:

  • Responsible for the overall functioning and coordination of the Office of the
    Executive Mayor
  • Management and supervision of personnel in the Office of the Executive Mayor
  • Perform administrative related duties.
  • Management and implementation of the financial and budget requirements of the
    Office of the Executive Mayor
  • Co-ordination and implementation of projects related to the Office of the
    Executive Mayor
  • Facilitation and coordination of Mayoral Events and functions.
  • Responsible for all Social Media platforms and print media press releases for the
    Office of the Executive Mayor
  • Facilitate communication and functions between the Office of the Executive
    Mayor and the Municipal Administration.
