VACANCY (Head Office, Woodmead JHB)
TAU Mining Consultants (Pty) Ltd. currently have the following vacancy available:
DEPARTMENT: FINANCE
Nature of employment: Permanent position
Reports to: Payroll Manager
Job purpose: Responsible for preparation and processing of Company monthly payroll and benefits across all business units, ensuring timeous payment and adherence to all BCEA/ LRA/ BCCEI legislative regulations and procedures. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for critically reviewing and analysing current payroll procedures to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations.
Key performance areas:
- Payroll Processing
- Preparation of all payroll activities, including the month-end process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with
company policies and statutory requirements. - Load new employees and supporting documents on the payroll system
- Load new employees on time and attendance system
- Processing of a list of mid-month advances on the payroll system
- Review HR Payroll input sheet (Allowances, AOD, Appointments, Terminations, Acting allowances)
- Review of normal and overtimes hours captured by payroll administrators
- Ensure terminations are appropriately processed, reconciled and paid
- Check all new employee information from end to end (i.e. bank detail, pay per offer etc.)
- Assist with pay queries
- Ensure payroll procedures and policies are fully complied with.
- Offer support and assistance to the payroll administrators at sites
- Preparation of the bank file from the payroll system for processing by finance
- Facilitate payroll audits, ensuring the efficient provision of information to auditors.
- Business Processes
- Update and maintain relevant payroll policies and procedures.
- Ensure internal controls are in place to manage risks.
- Support the business by providing accurate salary information.
- Employee Benefits
- Administer all company benefit plans.
- Ensure timely and accurate payments to Retirement Funds, Medical Aid, Unions and reconcile statements.
- Align fund rules with the corporate structure and ensure correct fund allocation to each individual.
- Reports

- Prepare accurate and timely reports as requested by management.
- Provide management with key statistics, trends, and recommendations.
- Prepare bonus and increase schedules.
- Compile summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, disability, and non-taxable wages.
- Prepare annual leave reports and manage annual leave appropriately
- Systems
- Participate in the development of payroll and HR information systems strategy.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of payroll system information.
- Time and Attendance
- Oversee the Time and Attendance system and processes.
- Ensure alignment of rules governing payroll and time and attendance across the Group.
- Advise on any anomalies.
- Statutory Compliance
- Meet statutory deadlines and requirements.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements to prevent legal losses.
- Submit pension returns, PAYE, SDL, and UIF returns correctly and on time.
- Prepare and submit statutory returns for Workman’s Compensation.
- Load EMP501’s bi-annually
Minimum Job requirements and experience:
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Payroll Diploma
- 5 -10 years’ payroll experience
- Sage 300 experience essential
- Excellent excel skills
- ERS time and attendance experience preferred
- Exposure in processing of large payrolls >500 people
- Clean criminal record
- Valid driver’s license
Knowledge, Behaviors, Skills & Abilities:
- Computer literate with Microsoft Office skills required.
- Must have knowledge of updated tax and statutory laws (SARS).
