Fitter (UG)

1. Purpose of Role
-This role has a 2.9.2 appointment in terms of the MHSA, Act of 1996: Maintain, install and commission engineering components of the machinery and equipment to an agreed standard in the area of responsibility

2. Work of Role

3. Qualifications

Lampsman Without UG Service

  1. Purpose of Role
    -The Lampsman fulfills a shift role at the shaft and is responsible for the effective operation of the lamproom. The incumbent is responsible to oversee the allocation, issuing and receiving of lamps, self-rescuers and gas monitors, during the shift. The Lampsman bears the responsibility of monitoring the safe and effective use of the equipment, as well as the return of lamps, self-rescuers and gas monitors. The incumbent is also expected to calibrate gas monitors according to the required standards

  1. Work of Role
    -Ensure that all lamps are charging
    -Ensure that all spare equipment is returned after the previous shift
    -Oversee and ensure that equipment and instruments are issued according to the required standards and procedures
    -Identify minimum stock level requirements via the ventilation department
    -Compile daily movement report on equipment and instruments in the lamproom
    -Inspect gas cylinder for any leakages and report maintenance and repairs requirements pro-actively
    -Monitor logbook recordings to ensure that all underground employees test gas monitors prior to proceeding underground
    -Checks on correct placement of lamps on charging rack
    -Identify faulty lamps and equipment for repairs
    -Ensure that charging racks, lamps and equipment are cleaned on a daily basis
    -Identify faulty lamps and allocate maintenance tasks to lamproom attendant accordingly
    -Compile maintenance requisitions for repairs and maintenance of equipment by external service suppliers
    -Ensure that all rescue packs are sealed before the next shift commences

  1. Qualifications
    -Grade 12 Numeracy and Literacy at NQF Level 4
    -Certified Competent as a Lampsman

  1. Experience
    -Minimum of 1 year experience as a relieving Lampsman in the mining environment

  1. Knowledge and Skills
    -English literacy is a pre-requisite
    -Computer literate for role
    -Trained in the control and maintenance of lamps
    -Delta training

Human Resources Practitioner Recruitment

1. Purpose of Role
-The HR Practitioner Recruitment is responsible for providing and supporting the Recruitment Department with an administration function. The HR Practitioner forms an integral part of the Recruitment Team and delivers support to the team with administrative operational functions inclusive of screening, short-listing, and interviewing.

2. Work of Role
-Maintain role profiles on e-recruitment for adverts
-Maintain the request for recruitment
-Complete workflow on the e-recruitment function
-Compile questionnaires for advert on e-recruitment
-Maintain advert functions on the e-recruitment
-Finalise actions on e-recruitment
-Training of Cadets as per SLP targets
-Implementation of new Cadet programmes with HRD department
-Training of Cadets on specific job requirements as set out by the HR Manager each year
-Detailed record keeping for DMR/SLP reporting
-Accurate and timeous reports to the relevant stakeholders of the communities, HOD’s, SLP and DMR
-Ensuring adherence to relevant policies and procedures through effective administration of necessary systems
-Effective application of necessary administration system
-Provide regular updates and feedback to HR and relevant managers
-Compile accurate system reports
-Conduct audits on the e-recruitment processes
-Ensure that required job role profiles are available to HR and management
-Support the human resources management team to achieve goals and objectives
-Effective record keeping

3. Qualifications
-Grade 12
-NQF Level 6 Diploma in Human Resources Management
-Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management – Advantageous

4. Experience
-Minimum of 3 years human resources recruitment experience, of which 2 years must be in the mining environment
-Experience in web career site adverts (SCubed and PNET)

5. Knowledge and Skills
-Computer literate for role (Excel essential)
– Communicate with Recruitment Suppliers in terms of receiving and assisting with invoices ( SCubed, MIE and Metrofile )
– Community Engagement
-Competent in mine HR systems and related legislation
-Valid driver’s license

Diesel Mechanic (UG)

-This role of Diesel Mechanic is to maintain, install and commission of the machinery and equipment to an agreed standard in the area of responsibility.

2. Work of Role
-Achievement of safe production performance levels through the effective maintenance of equipment
-Conducts and participate in risk assessments
-Attend to breakdowns and emergencies as required
-Ensure that material, spares, and equipment are available as required
-Comply to environmental requirements
-Exercise judgment with regards to replacement of components
-Maintains a high quality of work
-Timely and accurate information
-Records results of all legal examinations in the appropriate format
-Works in a sequence that prioritises work requirements
-Completing job cards and description of work and spares used (PM’s)
-Performing work to the required standards and specifications
-Applying appropriate tools to complete tasks
-Report at risk behaviour, incidents, and injuries

3. Qualifications
-Grade 12 or Technical Trade Specific N2
-Diesel Mechanic Trade Certificate

4. Experience
-Minimum of 2 years experience in the mining environment

5. Knowledge and Skills
-English literate (speak, read and write)
-Basic computer literacy
-Must be able to do standby and overtime
-Must be familiar with risk assessments procedures
-Valid driving license code 08
