The above-mentioned position is available in the Public Heritage Department at Robben Island Museum. The purpose of
the job is to facilitate the transfer of Robben Island Museum social memory. Narrate and monitor the narrated stories
about the prison and assist in facilitation of the in-house training of RIM tour guides.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct prison and specialised VIP prison tours including personal experiences; as per schedule of bookings.
- Present the story of political imprisonment and South African history in general to organized and specialised
groups on request and as per schedule of booking - Conduct induction/orientation sessions for tour guides on a needs basis and as defined by line supervisor
- Train tour guides in the narrative of political imprisonment for the purposes of improving narrative delivery
- Make special presentations on political imprisonment on the island in conferences/workshops/meetings as when
and necessary - Monitor narrative delivery of the tour guides to identify gaps and areas of improvement towards a continuous
holistic and inclusive narrative development - Conduct site specific interpretation/guiding on the other sites relating to political imprisonment narrative of the
island. - Take part in conducting research, assist research fellows and visiting scholars who research about political
imprisonment, in its broad sense. - Participate in oral history workshops for the museum’s narrative development strategy and acts as ambassador in
promoting Robben Island Museum - Support museum and Heritage Education Outreach programmes in their diversity on and off the island (national
and internationally.
Qualification and Experience Requirements
- Experience in the Robben Island Prison (incarcerated at Robben Island)
- Fluency in English and 1 other official language
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organisational and time skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to take the initiative and to develop new ideas / understanding based on assessment of issues at hand.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct Research on new material and archival methods
- Liaise with publishers, booksellers, and institutions
- Share information with relevant committees
- Analyse the budgetary allowance and decide on resources to purchase
- Maintain and update the cataloguing system
- Develop database to store information
- Publish a monthly newsletter
- Monitor temperature, humidity and other factors that would conserve the books
- Assist students on the use of the software
- Ensure students uphold the library rules and procedures
- Monitor records for photocopying
- Develop work rosters
Qualification and Experience Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Library Management or equivalent qualification at NQF 7

Remuneration will be paid in accordance with the Treasury Regulations
20.2.2 and the applicable tariffs as approved by the National Treasury
Robben Island Museum (RIM), a Schedule 3A public entity under the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), seeks to recruit two
qualified and experienced individuals to serve as members of its Audit Committee. The Audit Committee is a statutory committee
established in accordance with Section 77 of the PFMA and the Treasury Regulations. The successful candidates will contribute to the
oversight and governance of the entity’s financial reporting, risk management, and internal controls.
The purpose of this recruitment process is to identify and appoint two independent, non-executive members to the Audit Committee.
The selected individuals will assist the Audit Committee in fulfilling its responsibilities related to the integrity of financial reporting,
compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and the adequacy of internal control and risk management processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Review and provide oversight of the entity’s financial statements, including the annual financial
statements and interim financial reports, to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable accounting
standards. - Internal Controls: Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of the entity’s internal controls and provide recommendations for
improvement. - Risk Management: Review the entity’s risk management framework and policies to ensure that significant risks are
appropriately identified, managed, and mitigated. - Compliance: Monitor compliance with the PFMA, Treasury Regulations, and other relevant legislation, including the entity’s
policies and procedures. - Internal Audit: Oversee the performance of the internal audit function, including the approval of the internal audit plan and the
review of internal audit reports. - External Audit: Liaise with the Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA) or other external auditors, including reviewing the
external audit strategy, scope, and findings. - Ethics and Governance: Promote ethical conduct and sound corporate governance within the entity, ensuring adherence to
the King IV Report on Corporate Governance.
Qualification and Experience Requirements
- Education: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Auditing, or a related field. A professional qualification
such as CA(SA), CIMA, ACCA, CIA, or equivalent is highly desirable. - Experience: At least 5 years relevant experience in serving on an audit committee and 5 years’ experience in auditing,
financial management, risk management, or corporate governance, preferably within the public sector. - Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the PFMA, Treasury Regulations, King IV Report on Corporate Governance, and Generally
Recognised Accounting Practice (GRAP). - Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound judgments and provide
constructive feedback. - Independence: The candidate must be independent, with no direct or indirect interest in the entity’s operations that could
impair their objectivity

Duties and Responsibilities:
