Freedom Park is a national monument and heritage destination dedicated to honouring all
those who gave their lives in the struggles for freedom. It is established as a cultural
institution reporting to the Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture and is situated at Salvokop,
on the southern tip of Pretoria. The organisation is looking for an ethical individual who
has a passion to contribute to national reconciliation and social cohesion. Applications are

Human Resources.
JOB SUMMARY
To ensure compliance and good corporate governance throughout the organisation by providing
legal guidance and support to the Council, management and employees to enable them to
discharge their fiduciary and other responsibilities effectively.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Provision of comprehensive support and guidance to Council and Management.
o Provide comprehensive support and guidance to Council and Management.
Provide advice to the Council and Executive Management on latest legislation and
developments in the corporate governance field.
o Respond promptly to requests, inquiries and complaints. - Manage an effective Council and Committee meetings process to ensure
compliance with the required standards of good governance.
o Manage an effective Council and Committee meetings process, including
agendas, collation of Council papers, distribution and preparation of minutes.
Delegation of authorities and resolution. - Promote adherence to good corporate governance.
o Ensure that resolutions required by the delegation of authority are appropriately
prepared to reflect the authority required in terms of the law, the nature of the
transactions and the required governance processes. Promote adherence to good
corporate governance.
o Communicate required information to relevant internal and external parties - Oversee recording and distribution of minutes of all Council meetings, Council
Committees and Committees of Management.
o Oversee timeous and proper arrangement of meetings.
o Oversee timeous distribution of agenda and meeting packs.
o Ensure that minutes are taken accurately and concisely.
o Prepare notices for Council, Committee, and Management Committee meetings
and ensure effective planning for such. - Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement appropriate Policies and Procedures which may be
required to be ensure Council decision and directives are clearly communicated
to the relevant persons. - Create awareness to Management and Staff with regards to the laws, regulations
and statutory provisions affecting Freedom Park and of any failure to comply
with the law.
o Ensure guidance and training to management and staff. - Provide a central source of guidance and advice within the organisation on
matters of ethics and good governance.
o Ensure guidance and training to management and staff. - Maintain Statutory Registers.
o Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements. - Manage Company Secretarial Budget.
o Ensure compliance with budget procedures.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Requirements:
- LLB degree / equivalent legal qualification (NQF 8)
- An LLM will be an added advantage
- 5 years’ experience in a managerial position.
- 10 years in legal practice – admitted Advocate/Attorney, corporate lawyer, legal adviser,
or similar.

JOB SUMMARY
To plan, direct, and co-ordinate the human resource management activities of Freedom
Park so as to maximise the strategic use of its HR functions; to ensure regulatory
compliance for the achievement of the organisation’s strategic objectives
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Formulate the HR strategy as well as set up a budget that will inform and support the
activities of the HR unit in line with the organisation’s strategic objectives. - Manage the development and effective implementation of various HR policies and
procedures to ensure alignment with legislation and the organisation’s strategic
objectives. - Manage the administration and maintenance of human resources to ensure that
accurate personnel records are kept. - Manage the development and utilisation of human resources to ensure employees
are equipped with the necessary skills for successful performance, optimal utilisation
and organisational efficiency. - Manage the co-ordination of the Employee Wellness Programme to ensure a healthy
and productive workforce. - Manage the co-ordination of job evaluation activities aimed at determining
appropriate grading of positions to ensure internal equity. - Manage the administration of compensation, benefits and performance management
systems to ensure that employees are appropriately rewarded. - Manage the employee relations function within the organisation to ensure sound
relations with stakeholders. - Manage the recruitment and selection function to ensure attraction, placement and
retention of suitably qualified candidates for the organisation’s performance. - Provide leadership to the HR unit and advisory support to the organisation on various
HR related matters for effective performance, informed decision making and
legislative compliance.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Requirements:
- Honours degree or post graduate qualification (NQF Level 8) in Human Resources
Management or in a cognate discipline. - 5 years’ experience in a managerial position.
- 10 years in Human Resources Management or related function.
- Public sector management experience will be an added advantage.
Skills and Experience required:
- Knowledge of labour legislation, including rules and proceedings in a CCMA and
Labour Court - Knowledge of the heritage sector
