Job Purpose
To obtain all accident documentation and process vehicles for repairs as well as supervise and
ensure all pound procedures and checks are in place and are carried out effectively.
Key Responsibility Areas
- Processes and distributes documentation relating to departmental accidents, third party
claims, loss and damage to Council property). - Provides the claims clerk with the original claims and captures all accident information and
claim numbers on the spreadsheet system. - Records the recommendation in the register from the Fleet Supervisor and forwards
documentation to relevant regions. - Collects all relevant documentation and keys for vehicles involved in departmental
accidents. - Inspects vehicles at various sites by photographing accident damages, attaching
photographs to accident reports and investigates, where possible, the cause of the accident. - Assumes responsibility for the administration of vehicle pound by arranging inspections with
SAPS, Customs, and Department of Transport and submits the recorded list of inspections of
vehicles to the Administration Officer. - Removes vehicles from the vehicle pound to the relevant sections for disposal by towing
them. - Assumes responsibility for overall maintenance of the vehicle pound, for contracted security
guards and for investigating any misconduct at vehicle pounds.
