Job description

MAIN TASK AND RESPONSIBILITY

To control movements of trains and shunting movements under normal or abnormal conditions over a specific designated section of lines through applicable train control methods and in accordance with procedures and requirements of the train plan to ensure a safe, efficient train service as well as client satisfaction

Ability to clearly communicate technical information using more than one mode of communication; telephone, radio, written text.

Planning & Organising skills, Communication skills, Coordinating skills,

Motivational skills, Shift handover and reporting

Execute/plan daily train service plan between Hotazel & BRMO sidings, and within BRMO siding.

Complete train register/authorisation register and relevant log books, Constant monitoring of progress at Load Out station. Liaise with clients regarding train plan / deviations,

Capture relevant ETA / ETD of trains and train activities within span of control.

Respond to visual and audio alarms and implement corrective action when needed.

Ensure proper radio communication in line with radio communication protocols.

Respond and act upon all radio and telephone calls.

Assist Shift Supervisor Load Out in ensuring the effective and efficient utilisation of the shift team by monitoring the team performance

Assist the Shift Supervisor Load Out with the coordination and monitoring of occupations on infrastructure (track, signal & point) within BRMO rail siding.

Ensure the accurate and effective reporting of rail and train related deviations / faults to Shift Supervisor Load Out

Minimum requirements

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS

•    5 years Operational experience in a railway production environment( Required )
•    2 Years xeperince as Rail traffic control (Required)
•    2 years experience as CTC (Central Traffic Controller) / TCO (Train (Recommended)

•    2 Years experience as Control Officer) within TFR and relevant experience (Recommended)

Job description

MAIN TASK AND RESPONSIBILITY

Ensure compliance with mine health and safety regulations. Ensure compliance with mine policies, procedures and standards. Plan and organise resources, people and equipment to ensure the execution of the drilling schedule.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Assist with the implementation of sub-functional change management to drive transformation and optimisation. Drawing from own experience or vocational knowledge, identify and recommend initiatives aimed at eliminating waste, improved productivity and reduce operating costs within scope.
Issue instructions and coordinate with other areas and service departments to remedy.

Know and exercise the basic principles of safety and mining. Comply with  Safety, Health and Environmental standards. Identify and report unsafe and  hazardous situations in work area. Participate in safety meetings.

Introduction

Job description

•    Inspect equipment according to training manual (pre-start inspections).
•    Conduct pre- and post-start checks as per check list on allocated equipment at the beginning of each shift and that it is always in good working condition.
•    Conduct basic failure analysis and identify corrective action and report this to respective Shift Supervisor.
•    To perform first line maintenance tasks and assist with breakdown work as instructed by the Process Controller.
•    To perform cleaning duties and supervision of contract cleaning / mine staff as instructed by the Process Controller / Shift Supervisor, and ensure that work is completed accurately and according to set standards.
•    Operate double / multi-class mobile load and haul TMM equipment.
•    Set electrically operated points and ensure effective communication to ensure safe and effective movements of rolling stock.
•    Assist the drivers during couple and uncouple of wagons and locomotives.
•    Assist the drivers during shunting movements, to control the movements by authorising and controlling the drivers to stay within their authorised limits.
•    Done visual inspection to ensure TFR vehicle lists correspond with actual train configuration when entering the siding and when leaving the siding.
•    Ensure batteries and hand-held radios are checked at the beginning of each shift and that it is always in good working condition. 
•    Report equipment failure / deviations to Shift Supervisor.
•    To accurately report process and equipment deviations to the Process Control.
•    Ensure the accurate and effective reporting of rail and train related deviations / faults to Rail Traffic Officer
