ROLE OVERVIEW

The Specialist: Waste Circular Economy (WCE) role reports to the Portfolio Head: Trading Services and will be required to support and advise the company in policy, financial, institutional, partnership, legislative, regulatory, technical and capacity support matters related to the waste management circular economy. The Specialist will drive company’s work in this area, including all aspects related to reducing, reusing, and recycling of waste, and the implementation of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) initiative.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Relevant Postgraduate Degree in Development Management/ Economic Policy / Development.
At least 8 years’ experience operating at a senior management level within a medium-to-large-sized organization
At least 8 years’ experience in the waste management sector, with experience in reusing and recycling of waste.
Sound track record in effectively managing complex and sensitive stakeholder engagements at all levels (for example between public, private sectors and civil society).
Experience in working directly for a municipality/metro is an advantage.
Experience in project development and management.
Experience in Local Government.
A valid code 08 drivers’ license and own vehicle.
