Mine Overseer

Introduction

Murray & Roberts Cementation invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Mine Overseer to be placed in Bakubung Mine ,near Rustenburg,North West. The successful candidate will report to the Project Manager. The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates. Applications only open to South African Citizens / Permanent Residents.

Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

·        Supervise and lead underground crews to achieve production and quality targets to project scope

·        Effective control, planning and organising for safe achievement of production targets in line with contractual requirements

 Effective Mining operational management (all aspects, ventilation and service extensions, the lining operation, mark, drill and blast cycle)

·        Accurate, timely, relevant reporting and administration in line with legal appointment

·        Effective risk management and compliance with MHSA, SHEQ, M&RC and client requirements

·        Effective self and team management and alignment with M&RC values and leadership initiatives

·        Ensuring the safety of all employees under his/her control

·        Enforce and monitor all risk assessment processes and liaise with safety department

·        Be responsible for environmental and housekeeping standards

·        Be willing to assist in developing new methods of sinking to enhance safety, productivities and efficiencies

Achieving operational targets and comply with legal regulations of DMR, Client and

Minimum requirements

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

·        Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent

·        Mine Overseers’ Certificate of Competency (Fiery Mines)

·        Blasting Certificate (Fiery Mines), and Strata 3 Certificate

·        Relevant Gas Testing 

·        Valid EB Driver’s Licence

·        Valid First Aid certificate (If not available, obtain on on-boarding)

·        MS Office Proficient (Word and Excel)

·        Excellent planning, organising, leading and controlling skills

·        Proficiency in English both verbal and written

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

·        Minimum 5 years of experience from obtaining a Mine Oversee Certificate

·        5 years’ experience acting as a Mine Overseer

·        Experience in managing the work of subcontractors in a mining/underground environment

·        Experience in shaft sinking, silo lining, and Drop Raise

·        Experience working with unstable ground conditions and experience in long anchors, wet Crete and concrete work)

·        Experience in civil work  

·        Extensive knowledge and understanding of mining operations

·        Sound knowledge of explosives

Drill Master (Without B/Cert)

The successful candidate will report to the Developer. The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

  •         Execution of effective drilling and development to ensure daily production targets are met
  •         Effective planning, organising, leading and control within area of responsibility
  •         Effective supervision of drill rig operators to ensure adherence to work schedule
  •         Be alert and proactive in identifying and communicating equipment deficiencies
  •         Monitor and report on consumables used (bits, rods in R/m and shank and coupling usage)
  •         Effective self and team management in alignment with M&RC’s values
  •         Compliance with SHEQ, MRC and Client standards, policies and procedures
Minimum requirements

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

  •        Grade 12 or NQF level 4 equivalent
  •         Drill Rig Operator Certificate
  •         Load Haul Dumper and Dump Truck operating license (advantageous)
  •         Blasting Certificate (advantageous)
  •         Medically fit to work underground (including HTS, RFA)
  •         Clear criminal record
  •         Valid EB Driver’s License
  •         Valid Medical Certificate of Fitness to work underground
  •         Good English verbal and written communication skills
  •         Effective supervisory, job planning and numeracy skills
  •         Operation of drill in all aspects
  •         Installation of support, split sets, mesh and resin bolts
  •         Drilling long anchors
  •         Making safe by barring/scaling with a rig and limiting damage to booms
  •         Drilling of various blast rounds with minimal over break
  •         Computer literate, ability to complete online training

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

  •         At least 4 years drilling experience on a trackless mining operation
  •         Experience operating a Twin Boom Drill Rig with split feeds, drilling the development face in various ways, installing weld mesh and split sets, drilling long anchors and drilling and installing quick-chem resin bolts with the same machine (site specific)
  •         Experience in operating Dump Trucks and Load Haul Dumpers
  •         Extensive working experience in decline shaft development as a Drill Master (site specific)
  •         Experience in training Drill Operators and monitoring their performance
  •         Proven track record of production achievements
  •         Preference will be given to candidates with mechanised bolting experience
  •         Good knowledge and experience of mechanised mining operations
  •         Proven track record of production achievements

The successful candidate will report to the Project Manager The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

•    Adhering to company policies and procedures and also comply to Health and Safety requirements  
•    Responsible for medium to long term planning 
•    3D mine design and system integration 
•    Effectively interface/integrate activities/delays pertaining to the shafts levels to meet project deliverables 
•    Plan and monitor critical milestone on projects plan and inform stakeholders of any changes and opportunities
•    Prepare and update the long term and life of mine plans 
•    Report monthly on variations of actual projects plans to business plans and provide solutions to realign to project          plan 
•    Receive summarised daily reports from Mine Planners and Surveys for incorporation into long term plan and inform        M&RC and Client accordingly 
•    Receive Geologist reports and incorporate into the mine plan 
•    Identification and monitoring of critical constrains 
•    Effective self-management and alignment with M&RC values and leadership initiatives  

Minimum requirements

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

•    Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent
•    Mine Engineering National Diploma / Degree (advantageous) 
•    Advanced Survey Certificate/Valuation Certificate (not essential if degreed) 
•    Mine Overseer Certificate of Competency (Essential) 
•    Mineral Resources Management (advantageous) 
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel,  MS Projects, Word & PowerPoint) 

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

•    At least 8 years of experience in shaft sinking and construction
•    At least 6 years of experience working as mine planner or surveyor on medium to long term planning on sites with        multiple shafts
•    Hands-on underground, metalliferous mine design experience in a 3D environment 
•    Experience in medium and long term scenario planning and reporting thereon 
•    Experience leading a teams
