End User Computing Technician

Purpose of the job
To provide remote and onsite LAN and Desktop technical support to Workstations and Network infrastructure, ensuring that the clients requirements are always met and their expectations exceeded.

Key Responsibility Areas

• Provide first and second level LAN & desktop support.
• Install and configure new IT equipment.
• Implementation, customisation and maintenance of the remote software deployment.
• Provide support to the enterprise’s local IT and software resources.
• Provide LAN & desktop advisory services to clients.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum: Grade 12 PLUS National Higher Certificate in IT (NQF Level 5) with A+/N+ either as a subject of the Certificate OR as a separate certification (expiry irrelevant).
Experience: At least one-year corporate experience in the Service Management / End User Support Environment, OR Call Centre Agent experience with 1 – 2 years relevant experience in the End User Computing services and related LAN Infrastructures Services. Maintenance and support service of the End User Computing Services relating to all LAN Infrastructure Services such as servers, desktops, LAN cabling, switches and other LAN peripherals.
Maintenance and support to ensure the availability of the services according to prescribed procedures, policies, standards and SLA’s. Ensure the resolution of hardware and software service requests, incidents and problem within End User Computing and all related LAN infrastructure.

Technical Competencies Description

Knowledge of: Desktop operating systems and application. Network cabling and telephony system. Security software and hardware. Technical support and maintains of the application system(s), hardware and software End User Computer and LAN infrastructure principles and topology, Internet protocols, services. Routing and switching technologies. ITIL. Procedure, Policies and standards.

Senior System Administrator (Linux)

Purpose of the job
To provide Administration of Linux infrastructure, inclusive of Administration of cloud platforms such as Huawei, VMware etc. System Administration of various Linux distributions such as Red Hat, SUSE, Ubuntu, Automation of repeatable tasks and processes and working against project timelines Develop and implement new solutions based on business requirements.

Key Responsibility Areas
Infrastructure Preparation. Management and Administration of operating systems and subsystem packs. User support in order to resolve problems (outside vendors and internal personnel). User support in order to resolve problems (outside vendors and internal personnel) To report on the work of the section to ensure accountability. To report on the work of the section to ensure accountability. Management of operation staff in order to reach the objectives of hosting services

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum: 3-year National Higher Diploma/ Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology. A Linux
Certification will be an added benefit.
Experience: 5-6 years practical experience in System Administration with management responsibility in a large corporate/public sector organisation as well as experience in the provisioning of ICT solutions specifically within the Linux environment.

Technical Competencies Description

Purpose of the job
To provide technical support, installation, customisation, configuration, administration, and maintenance of various system software products as well as ensure a secure and stable environment for the user of Cloud platform and virtual machines.

Key Responsibility Areas

• Assist with preparation for Infrastructure implementation and deployment
• Assist with system administration, maintenance and system software and hardware management
• Assist with user support to resolve problems (outside vendors and internal personnel)
• Assist with reports on the work of the section to ensure accountability

Qualifications and Experience
Minimum: 1 – 2-year National Certificate in Information Technology/ NQF level 5 or accredited specialised courses.
Certification in Linux environment will be a benefit.
Experience: 2 – 3 years of working experience in Linux environment.

Technical Competencies Description

Purpose of the job
Responsible for the proactive monitoring of System Software and Hardware in the Cloud environment. The incumbent will also be responsible to perform and maintain tier 2 and 3 levels to ensure continuous service to the client.
