POSITION:            Maintain for Reliability (M4R) Technician

The Maintain for Reliability (M4R) Technician is accountable for the identification, implementation and monitoring of trackless fleet reliability improvement initiatives designed to enhance artisan proficiency in optimal fleet maintenance practices.  A core accountability of the role is to maintain the highest possible safety standards in area of operation and influence and, to collaborate with the Operate for Reliability (O4R), Technical Quality Assurance and Technical Training (HRD) teams to ensure that optimal equipment operating and maintenance standards are maintained.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Mechanical or Electrical trade certificate
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a trackless mobile machinery Artisan/Foreman
  • Relevant experience in training delivery related to maintenance of TMM Machines
  • Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure personal health and safety and that of team members by applying relevant standards and procedures in all planning and execution of maintenance activities
  • Perform inspections in accordance with the MHSA regulations and company standards during maintenance windows focusing on:
  • Verifying and validating daily training outcomes to ensure that maintaining equipment for reliability is effectively applied by Artisans and Supervisors in the underground workshops and working areas and initiate appropriate remedial actions to ensure optimum alignment
  • Interacting with Artisans during on-the-job observations to identify opportunities for improvement in driving the Engineering Asset Management philosophy and strategy
  • Recording lessons learned and translate these into training material and/or training delivery methods for TMM Foremen and Artisans
  • Facilitating Maintain for Reliability learning modules in the Training Centre as needed
  • Complete daily observations, insights, inspections, and periodic machine condition assessments (MCAs) and discuss findings with the TMM Foreman and report back to the Reliability Engineer
  • Ensuring that planned maintenance and corrective maintenance are carried out by Artisans in accordance with site and OEM standards
  • Identify defects, accurately record them, and raise work orders for defects to be rectified
  • Participate in Root Failure Cause Analysis (RCFA) investigations and lead the implementation of any RCFA findings using the work management processes, ensuring compliance within the Engineering and Production teams
  • Identify and implement improvement initiatives to enhance asset reliability and/or labour efficiency and effectiveness

The Supervisor Health & Safety is accountable for partnering with operational leadership and their teams to assess the application, completeness and quality of operational health and safety management systems, processes, policies, procedures and standards.  The incumbent is responsible to collaboratively develop plans and interventions with operational teams to ensure compliance with prescribed regulations, operational standards and campaigns to ensure optimal and sustainable application of the safety management system.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Degree or National Diploma in Health and Safety Management or related qualification
  • COMSOC 1 and 2 Certification
  • Blasting Certificate
  • At least 3 years’ trackless mining experience
  • In-depth knowledge of knowledge of the Mine Health & Safety Act (Act 29 of 1996)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

  • Contribute to the culture of Zero Harm by participating in and contributing to operational safety campaigns, applying relevant legislative, operational and safe work standards and regulations and, instituting and monitoring appropriate remedial actions as required
  • Conduct and participate in assigned inspections, investigations and auditing/quality control activities to ensure compliance with relevant MHSA regulations, explosives management and company standards
  • Attend Safety Department briefing and task activity sessions to represent area of accountability and act as a conduit for escalation and/or onward cascading of key safety management initiatives
  • Participate in the development, planning and roll-out of various on-site safety initiatives, campaigns, etc. and monitor implementation in area of accountability taking remedial actions as required to maintain momentum

The Trackless Supervisor Operations is accountable for operationalising and executing the safe and efficient delivery of the delegated short and medium-term production plan.  The role is primarily accountable for the application and continuous enhancement of safety standards and optimising sectional operational planning, scheduling and execution.  The incumbent will be required to investigate and analyse operational deficiencies with a view to co-designing and developing collaborative and innovative solutions to optimise the interfaces between operational teams, processes and systems.

The Senior Specialist Resource Geologist will be responsible for overseeing mineral resource estimation, modelling, and reporting, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as ISO 17025 and SOX. This role involves people management practices, driving quality assurance and control processes, optimising Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves, and managing risks to meet business requirements and stakeholder expectations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BSc Honours in Geology or related postgraduate qualification in the Mineral Resource Management discipline
  • Registered with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP)
  • At least 5 years’ geological modelling and mineral resource estimation experience in Geology / Mineral Resource Management
  • Extensive knowledge in database management and grade estimation techniques and be proficient in the use of geological modelling and geostatistical software such as Leapfrog, Datamine and Supervisor
  • Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

  • Actively engage in and demonstrate Visible Felt Leadership aligned to operational SHE standards, operational campaigns and instructions
  • Maintain effective people management practices by ensuring that team roles and competencies are clearly defined, and that effective team delivery is maintained
  • Ensure quality assurance and quality control (QAQC), integrity and compliance with ISO 17025 during the sample collection, preparation, processing, and analysis phases through audits, stakeholder engagement, continuous improvement initiatives, and effective database management systems and processes
  • Providing expert technical, QAQC, modelling, and evaluation services to optimise the operation’s Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves
  • Responsible for the mineral resource estimation and reporting of resource models
  • Ensuring SOX compliance, and compliance to audits by the Corporate Technical Services and external auditors
  • Co-ordinate projects and implementing integrated processes and systems across the section to meet business requirements and stakeholder expectations
  • Managing the Mineral Resource risks to acceptable levels
  • Review standards and implement best practice for sampling, mineral resource estimation, modelling and reporting
