Security Officer

Security Department, a division of Icebolethu Group is currently in search of suitable candidate to fill the position of a Security Officer located in Cosmo City Memorial Hill. The position is available on a permanent basis within the Security Department, a Division of Icebolethu Group.

Job Summery

We are looking for a competent Security Officer to undertake the surveillance of our premises and protection of our staff and visitors, resources and equipment.

You will be responsible for detecting any suspicious behaviour and preventing vandalism, thefts or other criminal activities.

A security officer must be well-trained in surveillance and dealing with perpetrators.

The ideal candidate will inspire respect and authority as well as possess a high level of observation.

The ideal candidate will help the company in maintaining excellent working conditions by keeping our facilities safe and problem-free.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Matric (required)

• Diploma in Security Management or equivalent (advantageous)

• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)

• Registered as a security officer

Experience and Competencies required:

• 2 years minimum experience as a security officer or guard

• Knowledge of legal guidelines for area security and public safety

• Report writing skills• Excellent surveillance and observation skills

• Tech-savvy with experience in surveillance systems and Communication Equipment.

• Trained in First Aid/BLS

• Trained in self-defense

• Fire-arm Competency handgun / Shotgun or Rifle

Key Performance Areas

• Patrol premises regularly to maintain order and establish presence

• Monitor and authorize entrance of vehicles or people in the property

• Remove wrongdoers or trespassers from the area

• Secure all exits, doors and windows after end of operations

• Check surveillance cameras periodically to identify disruptions or unlawful acts

• Investigate people for suspicious activity or possessions

• Respond to alarms by investigating and assessing the situation

• Provide assistance to people in need

• Apprehend and detain perpetrators according to legal protocol before arrival of authorities

• Submit reports of daily surveillance activity and important occurrences

Facilities Manager

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement an effective annual planned maintenance program to ensure that all properties occupied by the Group are properly maintained and comply with Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
• On a monthly basis, prepare the project plan together with budgeted costs for approval by the GCFO prior to plan implementation.
• Create project timelines and research expected costs.
• Identify and recommend properties for acquisition in line with Group and zoning requirements.
• Work with the Group Procurement department to oversee the sourcing and engagement of external service providers in line with the Group’s Procurement Policy.
• Provide oversight and management of internal team members and service providers contracted to execute maintenance and repairs and ensure all work is being performed within the agreedtimelines and budget.
• Maintain good working relationships with landlords, engage with them on repairs required and when leases are due for renewal.
• Maintain accurate and complete records including keeping building plans and blueprints, lease agreements, service level agreements filed in proper order.
• Respond to emergency requests for facility and equipment repairs.
• Prepare monthly report to provide an overview of work completed in the month.
• Project manage all construction, refurbishment and shopfitting projects.
• Maintaining projects and compliance schedules including the Occupational Health and Safety and relevant by-laws and building regulations, such as re-zoning.
• Implement the Group’s performance management system and cultivate high levels of staffperformanceand engagement within the Facilities’ team.

The following minimum requirements should be met to be considered:

National Diploma or Degree in Civil/Construction/ Electrical/ Building related field.
• Project Management Certification.
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in building and maintenance management.
• Knowledge of the Health and Safety Act, relevant building regulations and applicable SANS codes
• Project management and planning skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical and equipment maintenance skills are essential.
