1. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

• The Protection Officer Technical is responsible for supervising direct reports and ensures that critical security systems are maintained and available. The logistics function falls under his/her responsibility.

1. WORK OF ROLE

• Administers security codes used in the facility
• Compile accurate security reports including incident and investigation reports
• Ensure that materials, resources and equipment are available and in working order for the teams
• requirements before shifts
• Ensure that system administration requirements are complied with
• Ensures legal compliance to external government agencies (ICASA, OHSAS etc.)
• Ensures that all technical equipment is available and serviceable always
• Identify risks and threats to the process/functions proactively
• Manage improvement projects that are aimed at protecting the operation against risks
• Manage the implementation of new systems
• Monitor and advise on the settings of monitoring equipment to optimize performance

1. QUALIFICATIONS

• Grade 12
• National Diploma / N6 in Electronics
• Degree in Electronics Engineering

1. PRE-REQUISITE

• Psychometric assessment
• No criminal record
• Pass polygraph test
• Firearm competency
• Advanced computer literacy
• Registered with PSIRA on Grade A
• Valid driver’s license 08/10/14
• Valid public drivers permit

1. EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 4 years’ experience technical field

1. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Communications in English (spoken, written, and reading)
• Risk assessment and hazard identification
• Understanding of relevant security equipment
• Understanding of electronic security equipment standards and conventions

Mine Overseer

1. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

• The Mine Overseer therefore has the accountability to manage and plan for the development & provision of mining work practices, structures and services, which will contribute to the overall safety, health, and sustained profitability of the operational area.

1. WORK OF ROLE

• Contribute and participate in the shafts planning process to achieve optimum and integrated plans for the section as well as the total BA and BU
• Direct area resource specialists for technical support requirements
• Ensure that employees work in a safe environment by ensuring that the shift supervisors remained focused on their core role responsibilities
• Ensure that management systems and practices are in place for effective business governance
• Identify and support efforts to overcome operational problems
• Identify opportunities to improve operation efficiencies in the section as well as BA especially from a mining perspective
• Initiate and co-ordinate improvement projects to increase in-stope efficiencies
• Investigates and reports any incidents / injuries
• Maintaining health and safety
• Manage the operation of section

1. QUALIFICATIONS

• Grade 12
• Mine Overseer Certificate for scheduled mines
• Shift Supervisor Certificate
• Blasting Certificate
• Mining Degree or Diploma – Advantageous
• Mine Managers Certificate – Advantageous

1. EXPERIENCE

• At least 5 years mining experience at metalliferous mines, at least 2 years’ experience as appointed Shift Supervisor
• Minimum 6 Months acting exposure as Mine Overseer (2.14.1 plus 2.13.12 appointment)

Shift Supervisor Mining

1. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

• The Shift Supervisor Mining has the legal accountability with a 2.15.1 appointment in terms of the Minerals Act and Regulations and is responsible to ensure compliance to legal requirements and management specifics, and the completion of records pertaining to his/her area of responsibility, as stipulated by the regulations.

1. WORK OF ROLE

• Receiving and forwarding the ordering of all required material and resources
• Application of legal, operational and standard compliance with regards to work, machinery and equipment inspections and the recording thereof as stipulated in section 2.15.1 of the Minerals Act
• Completing all the required checklists, reports, etc.
• Investigating incidents/accidents and property damage
• Maintaining/monitoring formal records for area
• Monitoring of environmental conditions for compliance to legal and management specifics
• Monitoring performance of all activities and advice where applicable to enhance productive achievement
• Monitoring performances for compliance to legal and management specifics
• Monitoring shift activities to ensure maximum production output
• Obtaining and posting all relevant reports, instructions and statistics received from economic resource departments
• Planning production for the area of responsibility
• Supporting section objectives

1. QUALIFICATIONS

• Grade 12
• Blasting Certificate
• Shift Supervisor Certificate
• Mining related Diploma / Degree / Mine Overseer Certificate – Advantageous

1. EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Miner in stopping and developing

• Regulation 2.15.1 – 2.15.4. Shift Supervisor, Appointment and Duties.
• Regulation 2.15.2. Shift Supervisor will be the holder of a Permanent Blasting Certificate.
• Regulation 2.15.3. Size of a Shift Supervisor section.
• Regulation 2.15.4. Shift Supervisor to ensure proper Observance and Compliance to the regulations.
• Regulation 2.15.5. Shift Supervisor to inspect.
• Regulation 2.15.6. Shift Supervisor Logbook recording.
• Regulation 2.15.7. Record to be open to inspection.
• Regulation 2.15.8. Not to take charge of Gang.
