Business Development Manager (Prescient Investment Management)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Institutional Sales, Business Development and Client Management

  • Responsible for initiating contact with potential and current customers to generate and qualify leads, promote the company’s products and services and identify sales opportunities for Prescient.
  • Drive the entire sales cycle from initial customer engagement to closed deals, using various direct methods such as calling, face to face meetings and networking
  • Keep detailed notes on prospect and customer interactions on CRM system and update CRM System regularly
  • Provide feedback on market trends, competitive threats, unmet needs, and opportunities
  • Managing all aspects of relationships with existing clients, including co-ordination and presentation of technical report-backs, liaising with client services and compliance teams internally on reporting and mandates and management of the on-going relationships through regular meetings and updates on the performance of their funds
  • Effectively articulate Prescient investment philosophy, process, products and performance to prospects, clients, consultants, multi managers and to differentiate our firm from competitors.
  • Participation in investment team activities to ensure up-to-date technical knowledge of the company’s products, investment philosophy and portfolio positioning
  • Coordinate RFP process supported by the Business Development team. This will include the support and oversight of the preparation of RFP documents, due diligences, and terms negotiation
  • Increase assets under management for firm’s investment products and vehicles
  • Provide regular reporting on activities, new sales opportunities, client focus and product initiatives to the Management team

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Senior Legal Advisor (Prescient Centralised Services)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic and Operational delivery:

  • Providing effective and efficient legal input and guidance to the business, primarily the business of investment management and stockbroking.
  • Working proactively with the operational teams of the business to ensure strategy and goals of the business as a client.
  • Assisting and working closely with the various operational teams within the business units in achieving common strategy and goals.
  • Negotiation and communication with internal and external clients on complex legal issues & quickly handle unanticipated matters or situations.
  • Assisting with effective management and implementation of Governance policies and principles for all Prescient Group entities.

Risk Management Support Function:

  • Assist the Head of Governance, including the Internal Audit function as and when required/requested, to:
  • Develop and or maintain effective risk management controls and systems.
  • Assist in rolling out and integrating legal, risk and or internal audit recommendations.
  • Assist in training initiatives across the group, both locally and foreign.

Assist and work closely with the Head of Governance to:

  • Proactive research and communication to the business (where applicable & possible).
  • Assisting with analysing corporate policies and practices where needed for adherence to laws and regulations.
  • Proactive managing of legal risks and reporting of such risks to the Head of Governance.
  • Providing labour law advice and support to the Head of Talent and human resources department on employment related matters from time to time.


Regulatory Advisor to the Asset Management Business, including but not limited to:

  • Legal advice and sign off on transactions and related documentation in respect of inter alia:
  • Structured Debt transactions; Common Terms Agreements, Senior Debt Agreements, Mezzanine Debt Agreements, Guarantees, Indemnities, Suretyships, Bonds; Listed debt programme memorandums; and Securitization Structures; and provide sound recommendations regarding structuring of transactions;
  • Swaps and Derivative transaction documentation and confirmations, GMRA and SLA documentation.
  • General / commercial legal advice and opinions as requested.
  • Institutional: Drafting and review of institutional agreements, investment management agreements and third-party administration agreements.
  • Transactional: Drafting and reviewing of transactional documents, i.e., Master Broker agreements, ISDA’s, GMLA’s.
  • Advising on on-going institutional counterparty requirements.
  • Advising on corporate actions and corporate compliance.
  • Provide guidance where required on regulatory compliance matters (i.e. investment compliance) as well as relating to investment, master and broker agreements.

  • Providing proactive assistance and guidance to the COO and Risk and Compliance manager on stockbroking related matters.

General responsibilities:

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Min of 6 – 8 years’ experience as a legal advisor in the asset management and stockbroking environments, with experience or exposure to the risk and compliance environment. 
  • Risk management and knowledge of risk assessments and control implementation will be an advantage.
  • Strong technical and legislative knowledge, including but not limited to: CISCA, FAIS, Company Act, COFI, Financial Regulations Act, POPIA, GDPR, FMA, EMIR, MIFID, OTC Derivative Markets.
  • Technical and legislative knowledge related to the stockbroking and associated Rules and Regulations of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.

Business Development Manager (Prescient Fund Services)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Business Development – by understanding the core admin and platform services PFS Provides, you will need to be able to provide technical support as part of the business development function which will amongst others, include:
    • Identifying client needs to generate proposals and next step scoping workshops.
    • Being proactive in driving the message into the sales channels and proactively working within the teams to Support the asset-raising efforts.
    • Provide support and represent alongside the Head of Business Development on relevant pitches and proposals.
    • Be a first responder to requests to engage in admin and platform opportunities. Using in-depth knowledge of core and platform services, screen initial client requests to assess sales strategy to follow. 
    • Developing leads for new business and ensuring strong relationships and networks.
  • Prospect Engagement
    • Assisting the Head of Business Development in building and maintaining relationships with identified clients including attendance in client meetings, webinars and presentations as required, for both existing and prospective clients.
    • Participate and plan for events to promote PFS.
  • Marketing PFS – branding and events; market intelligence
    • Research the fund admin and platform industry and identify targets / proactive research.

Senior Systems Engineer (Prescient Centralised Services)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Support and Troubleshooting

  • Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues related to hardware, software, operating systems, and networking.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues promptly.
  • Provide support for enterprise-level applications and systems such as VMware, Linux servers, Windows Server environments, and Cloud platforms.

System Administration and Infrastructure Management

  • Design, install, maintain, and upgrade IT infrastructure including virtual servers (VMware), networks, storage, and enterprise backup systems.
  • Manage server configurations, Maintenance and system integration tasks.
  • Manage both on-premises Exchange servers and Office 365 tenants.
  • Administer Active Directory services, including Group Policy management.

ETF Fund Accountant (Prescient Fund Services)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Processing and setting up of relevant fees applicable to ETF funds.
  • Performing distribution calculations and processing of distributions on the funds.
  • Pricing of funds and ensuring the valuation of financial instruments are in line with the funds’ performance e.g. equities, bonds, and derivatives.
  • Understand tolerance level checking against a benchmark and are familiar with what is deemed as an unacceptable asset and NAV fund price variance.
  • Responsible for running, checking and sending of client reports daily and monthly.
  • Handling queries efficiently to ensure resolution of both internal and external client queries (in conjunction with the Client Delivery team).
  • Ensure appropriate controls are in place to mitigate risk.
  • Supporting the management and co-ordination of team deliverables relating to projects and new client take on’s.
  • Performing daily cash and scrip reconciliations, along with the ability to understand the cause of breaks in order to resolve.

Client Service Consultant: Onboarding (Prescient Fund Services)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Client onboarding process and account creation for individuals and legal entities which includes Docfox (KYC application) and the unit registry system across all management companies where administration is performed. 
  • Perform validation checks on the Client documents submitted for onboarding a new investor to ensure the necessary FICA requirements are met in accordance with the FIC and the relevant RMCP before loading investor onto the unit registry system. Ensure all client accounts are loaded and authorised in Docfox. 
  • Follow-up on outstanding information/documents with the Client and deliver exceptional client service, by providing Client with regular feedback.
  • Ensure all new clients are created in the unit registry system according to the capturing standard. 
  • Ensure the correct capturing of all regulatory classifications (FATCA, ASISA, SARB).
  • Ensure the correct capturing all tax classifications (DWT, IWT) and ensuring the clients tax details have been recorded appropriately.
  • Ensuring daily individual checklist have been updated by administrators and handed to Team Leader for final sign-off.
  • Work with Compliance and Internal audit to ensure adherence to the FICA RMCP.
  • Submit all High-Risk clients to Compliance and review that it is completed.

Implementation Specialist (Prescient Fund Services)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To engage, assist and run with all new client take ons, take offs, portfolio transitions, changes and launches
  • Take ownership of the transition management process, ensuring smooth and efficient execution.
  • To engage, assist and run with fund setups, fee calculator and NAV recon books builds, including ongoing system and counterparty improvement initiatives
  • To optimise the Implementation team environment (including the full supply chain end to end), developing out the system capabilities and efficiencies for fund products
  • Functionally supporting PFS, being the interface between Business Development initiatives, Operations and the Project Office
  • To develop, work on and roll out the project list as directed by the strategic initiatives directed by the Manager
  • To use client reports and dashboards to better communicate internally and externally.

Compliance Officer (Prescient Fund Services)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the appointed FAIS Compliance Officer for a CAT I FSP (intermediary only), and FIC MLRO and Compliance Officer and S13B Compliance.
  • FAIS monitoring and planning for Prescient Fund Services and related Juristic Representatives:
    • Update monitoring plan to be line with the relevant legislation.
    • Monitor Continuous professional development (CPD), Class of business training (COB) and Product specific training (PST) of all reps and KI’s within the business.
    • Report to Senior Management. 
    • Submit any regulatory reports required by FAIS.
  • Representatives under supervision monitoring:
    • Monitor that the representatives under supervision are being supervised and ensure that evidence of supervision is provided.
  • AML – MLRO:
    • Keep up to date with relevant legislation.
    • Assist in any FIC reporting.
    • Oversight of ongoing FICA monitoring.
  • Provide FAIS training:
    • Plan and implement compliance training to Prescient Fund Services to cover the various pieces of legislation relevant to the fund administration business.
  • Regulatory submissions:
    • Collate and submit regulatory submission for PFA S13B license.
    • Collate and submit any adhoc regulatory reporting required by the FSCA.
  • Liaise with FSCA for any further licensing requirements that the companies within the PFS Group may have.
  • Any other regulatory compliance related services that the company may require.

Head of Compliance (Prescient Fund Services)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

People Management

  • Lead and manage the MANCO and PFS compliance and risk team.
  • Oversee recruitment, performance evaluation process, and retention strategies in collaboration with the CEO. Assist in the evaluation of staff performance on a regular basis, informally and during formal reviews and provide effective performance feedback to staff.
  • Enhance and establish processes that promote a healthy team culture and supportive of a client centric work environment. Build a team culture focused on accountability, ownership, and service excellence.
  • Uphold and reinforce company culture, values, and vision through leadership.
  • Report to the MANCO and PFS Exco/Management committees and Audit and Risk committee.
  • Member of Prescient Group Compliance Committee.

Design and ensure implementation of the annual compliance monitoring plan covering compliance with CISCA, JSE Debt and Specialist Securities Listing Requirements, FAIS, Pension Funds Act (including S13B), FICA and POPIA.

MANCO Oversight

  • Manage relationship with Trustees and various reporting requirements to Trustees.
  • Ensure ongoing oversite of third-party investment managers and service providers to ensure they meet fit and proper standards.
  • Implementation and ongoing compliance with the New Conduct Standard for CIS Managers and any new regulatory frameworks and requirements.
  • Responsibility for compliance with the requirements of Regulation 28 and CISCA etc. Responsibility includes monitoring compliance, documenting findings and reporting findings to management.
  • Assisting with ASISA & FSCA quarterly reporting.
  • Liaising with the Regulator for new fund applications. 
  • Review of hedge fund risk reporting and monitoring in terms BN52 performed by the MANCO risk specialist.
  • Oversight of ongoing compliance of JSE listing requirements for the Prescient ETF Scheme.

Oversight of Investment Compliance Monitoring which will require knowledge of:

JSE Risk and Compliance Officer (Prescient Securities)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Regulatory Compliance & Monitoring (JSE / A2X Exchange)

  • Real time monitoring of trading activity across all asset classes, to ensure compliance, detect irregularities and manage risk
  • Monitoring of daily CAPAD trading Limits and Monthly submission to JSE and A2X
  • Responsible for onboarding and offboarding access to trading and Backoffice systems to ensure compliance

Key Objective

The key objective is the development of analytics tools and strategies, as well as the improvement and extension of PRIME for the Credit Funds.

Quantitative Analysis:

  • Assist in defining the PRIME framework and incorporate current analytics tools and reporting.
