Description

The Field Production Co-ordinator is responsible for the logistical planning, execution, and support of all television news field operations. Planning & Logistics

Coordinate field production schedules for Anchors, Reporters, Producers, and camera crews.

Liaise with editorial teams to align coverage priorities with operational capabilities.

Conduct site inspections and assess the suitability of venues for broadcast requirements.

Draft a detailed and clear broadcast plan to guide the various production teams.

Communicate permissions and requirements with event organisers.

Field Operations Support

Act as the primary contact between newsroom, field crews, and technical teams during assignments.

Monitor field deployments to ensure safety protocols are upheld.

Troubleshoot logistical or technical issues as they arise in the field.

Facilitate real-time communication between field teams and the studio.

Administration & Compliance

Track broadcast budgets, costs, and resource allocation for field operations.

Maintain accurate records of crew deployments, equipment usage, and incident reports.

Ensure compliance with company policies, broadcasting regulations, and legal requirements (e.g., permits, contracts).

Broadcast Liaison

Maintain strong coordination with the Broadcast Manager, Tech Crews and Logistics.

Communicate permissions and requirements with event organisers.

Brief all stakeholders including camera crew, reporters, and guests.

Support field crews with day-to-day needs to maximize efficiency.

Brief teams before deployment and debrief after assignments.

Building, supporting and maintaining interpersonal and team relationships to ensure stable working environment and achievement of team objectives.

Health, Safety & Risk Management

Conduct risk assessments for field assignments.

Ensure crew safety, including adherence to health and safety guidelines, especially in high-risk zones.

Arrange medical support, insurance, and emergency contacts when required.

Technical & Production Support

Operate and advise on use of SNG vans, LiveU, eLink and other broadcasting tools as needed.

Support technical setup for live links (e.g., OB units, satellite, mobile journalism kits).

Troubleshoot on-site production issues in real-time.

Qualifications

Higher Certificate in Media and/or Journalism and/or Communications and/or TV Production and/or a related field – Essential
