Job Description:

As the General Engineering Supervisor, you need to oversee the maintenance and operations of equipment and systems according to sound engineering practices and equipment specifications and to assist the Engineer with design and general supervision of engineering activities in support of the maintenance process.

More of your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Ensuring work is planned, scheduled, executed and monitored in accordance to the Engineering objectives
  • Analysing data for all underground fixed plant and area of responsibility, reporting and investigating barriers to effective quality performance, causes of delays and deviations and ensuring mitigating plans are prepared and implemented
  • Identifying and initiating system improvements
  • Ensuring budgets are met and cost is controlled
  • Stakeholder management, while supporting and implementing project optimisation
  • Implement Continuous Improvement initiatives by keeping abreast of developments and introducing change in work processes where appropriate (Cost reductions and cost avoidances).
  • Ensuring legal, safety, environmental and hygiene standards are complied with and maintained

This role is in the Engineering Department at Band 6 and reports to the Underground Fixed Plant Section Engineer: VUP

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical or Electrical University Degree/ National Diploma/ NHD (T4/S4) or B-Tech with a minimum of 5 years’ post qualification experience on the maintenance of equipment required for underground mining. or
  • N3 Certificate, Mechanical or Electrical Trade Certificate with a minimum of 10 years’ experience on the maintenance of equipment required for underground mining; plus

Role-specific knowledge:

  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience as a Senior Foreman or GES or relevant
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience on Underground fixed plant (Winders and Shafts; BAC/Fridge Plant; Ventilation Fans; Ground and Water handling) related maintenance activities
  • Technical Knowledge in maintenance and management of Gyratory Crushers, Stacker Reclaimer, Dewatering Multistage Pumps, Slurry Pumps, and Conveyor belts systems
  • Contract management experience and working knowledge of repair and services contracts
  • Previous Experience on engineering governance in SAP system.

Job Description:

Job Description:

The Senior Manager Mining Pre-Production (development) will be accountable for leading the mining Pre-Production team to deliver safe, sustainable productive outcomes in accordance with the business plan. Accountable for managing, directing and leading the execution of mining development together with related surface and underground activities. The role requires a strong emphasis on safety, risk management, design, engineering, procurement, cost management, scheduling, construction activities, commissioning and handover.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Take personal accountability for the Safety Leadership agenda for the Pre-Production section, exemplifying and instilling a culture of Zero Harm throughout the business, maintain and encourage a safe work environment at all times
  • Lead the Pre-Production team and manage all mining personnel and resources
  • Overseeing the development execution planning, engineering, scheduling, mining quality and construction activities associated with the underground development plan including raise bore activities and report on progress

Job Description:

As a Metallurgical Technicianyour responsibilities will include the following:

  • Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory standards in metallurgical operations.

Venetia Mine is an asset in the Anglo-American portfolio with a strategic and commercial imperative to achieve the business objectives. The role is responsible for creating a high-performance culture and leading the production team to effectively deliver on the set production and respective business continuity targets through an integrated value chain. The role holds the legal accountability with a 2.13.3.1 appointment in terms of the MHSA, responsible for the overall safe operation and maintenance of equipment including availability of HME, light vehicle, and pit dewatering services at Venetia Mine.

Key Result Areas

  • Role incumbent will be appointed in terms of MHSA Reg 2.13.3.1 and has a strong focus on legal compliance
  • Ensure adherence to the company’s Safety, Health and Environmental management programmes and that objectives are implemented according to MHSA legislation and the Strategic Management Plan
