Junior Database Administrator

The Public Investment Corporation SOC Limited (PIC) is an asset management firm, whose
mandate is to make investments in various sectors of the economy on behalf of public sector
entities. Amongst our clients are the Government Employees Pension Fund, the
Unemployment Insurance Fund and the Compensation Fund. Over the years, we have grown

We are currently seeking applications from dynamic individuals for the following position:

Purpose of the role:
The Junior Database Administrator is responsible for assisting with the backup and recovery PIC
Databases, patching servers, address queries and scripts and other development work as required by the
business.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, IT, IS or equivalent
  • 5 years’ experience gained within the IT industry specifically and at least 2 years Database
    Administration
  • Database Administration skills
  • SQL Development and scripting skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft environment
  • ITIL processes
  • Knowledge and understating of legislative requirements in IT
  • Knowledge of governance and security control requirements

Duties:

  • Provide stable database environment that has adequate controls adhering to Policies and is
    cost effective for the business
  • Develop Integration solutions between very complex systems with relevant documentation
  • Adequate support to projects as and when required
  • Ensure system stability and adequate support for assigned applications
  • Ensure backup as part of mentoring

Portfolio Management and Valuation Associate (Isibaya)

Purpose of the role:
To maximise value of assets under management by managing the portfolio of assets, monitoring and
driving performance of the investments.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications :

  • Honours Degree (finance, engineering, legal) or any other relevant commerce or engineering
    degree
  • 4-5 years relevant experience in unlisted investments (deal making or advisory)
  • Knowledge of Investment and Credit Risk Assessment
  • Knowledge of Financial Analysis and Interpretation
  • Experience in Investment Analysis and Financial Modelling
  • FAIS RE 05 Certificate or must be obtained within 6 months of employment

Preferred Qualifications :

Duties:

  • Develop and implement post investment plan for the portfolio companies
  • Ensure the timeliness and quality of complex portfolio actions to maximise value of assets
    under management (such as restructuring, follow on investments, debt conversion,
    rescheduling, amendments, and regular waivers).
  • Build, maintain and manage high level relationships with investee companies and other
    stakeholders; conduct regular client visits and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Monitor investments, review and analyse performance and compliance of investment.
  • Conduct active investment management focused on value add and successful exits
  • Design and implement exit plans for investment companies
  • Collect and conduct review of portfolio company performance, analysis of investee company
    reports (such as AFS, Management Accounts and management reports).
  • Prepare portfolio company reports and portfolio action appraisal reports.
  • Provide early warning signals for investments and implement remedial action.
  • Contribute to knowledge management process (development of lessons learnt and best
    practices)
  • Research and sectorial analysis to keep abreast with industry trends to identify growth
    opportunities and areas of concern.

Digital Experience Manager

  • Position: Digital Experience Manager

Purpose of the role:
Responsible for the supervision, technical development and guidance for the Desktop and Service Desk
Support team. Lead the day-to-day activities of the team and ensure an effective and efficient level of IT
Support is provided within the desktop support environment for resolving IT-related issues or problems.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, IS
  • 10 years of IT and business experience, with 5 years in the IT Service Desk function and
    management experience
  • ITIL certified
  • COBIT Certified
  • MS Certifications, e.g. MS Teams
  • MCITP certificate or equivalent
  • Knowledge and understanding of legislative requirements in IT
  • Knowledge of governance and security control requirements

Duties:

  • Define service delivery strategy and processes that support it and monitor implementation
    with a view to improving service efficiency at an optimal cost.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee policies and procedures to ensure consistent service levels
    and quick resolutions.
  • Responsible for staffing capacity planning, service process design, performance analysis,
    and developing proactive resolution plans.
  • Manage acquisition, deployment and maintenance of endpoint devices, in liaison with
    relevant service providers.
  • Customer support – response time, provision of quality support and problem resolution
    agreed with the customer in line with ITIL.
  • Managing all procedures related to identification, prioritisation and resolution of incidents,
    including the monitoring, tracking and coordination of Service Desk functions.
  • Manage Incidents, Requests, Problems, Changes and Releases to be able to provide an
    efficient service to the client as defined in the service catalogue and service level
    agreements.
  • Responsible for planning, designing, and analysing the organisation’s service desk according
    to best practices, while ensuring high levels of customer service quality and availability.
  • Manage Assets (both inventory and software) and CMDB
  • Define and manage Service Level Agreements and report back to the client
  • Manage, mentor, Service Desk Team and manage performance
  • Prepare budget proposals and recommend payments of invoices
  • Producing statistics and management reports on service performance and recommendations
  • Overseeing day-to-day operations at the Service Desk, including managing engineers and
    workstations, printers, and the development of SOPs and related policies

Data Analyst

  • Position: Data Analyst

Purpose of the role:
The Data Analyst is responsible for conducting full lifecycle technical data analysis (including
requirements, design, modelling, data mining, visualisation and optimisation). This role provides data
analytics which can be used by the organisation to achieve business objectives through reporting
trends, predictive modelling, as well as analysing business processes and opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems,
    Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar.
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in a data analytics, data engineering or analytics role, with
    at least 4 years’ experience in a financial services institution.
  • Knowledge of asset management or investment fund industry, including securities, financial
    instruments, indices and related market data.
  • Demonstrated experience in sourcing, cleaning and validating data from diverse systems,
    with a strong focus on maintaining data integrity, consistency, and quality throughout the
    analysis lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of logical and physical data modelling concepts, principles and
    practices, including implementation in relational and cloud-based data platforms (e.g.,
    Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric).
  • Demonstrated experience in using data manipulation and analysis tools, including T-SQL,
    Python, Microsoft R, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Synapse Analytics
    within a cloud-based data ecosystem.
  • Proven working experience with data analysis and visualisation tools such as Tableau, Power
    BI, and IBM Cognos.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric components such as Lakehouse, Dataflows, Data Factory and
    Power BI.
  • Exposure to Microsoft Purview for data cataloguing, lineage tracking, and governance
    awareness.
  • Knowledge of metadata and master data concepts and practical applications in both
    transactional systems and data lakes environments.
  • Full project management, agile methodology and development life cycle experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Data Management Association (DAMA) DMBOK.

Duties:

  • Design and maintain dashboards and reports using tools like Power BI, IBM Cognos while
    ensuring data visualisations are clear, accurate, and aligned with business goals.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver insights and support
    decision-making.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis and mining of complex business data to identify trends, patterns, and
    anomalies to support business.
  • Documenting technical specifications for data solutions that specify pertinent information such as
    data sources-to-target maps, types, structure (logical and physical models), flows, data dictionary
    transformations, storage, and reports.
  • Analyse and resolve problems in existing data/extracts/reports/queries and then implement
    corrective actions.
  • Provide and apply quality assurance best practices for data analysis services across the
    organisation.
  • Lead the acquisition and management of data feeds services (e.g., JSE, Bloomberg, Iress,
    LSEG, MSCI, etc.) and subscription services across the organisation.
  • Participates in project planning, daily stand-up meetings (scrums), reviews, retrospectives, sprint
    and release planning, and other related meetings.
  • Identify and manage data risks in line with PIC Enterprise Risk and Data Management
    frameworks.
  • Create awareness within the IT team and put in place a process of addressing and managing
    data issues.
