Job Purpose
The role is responsible for analysing and optimising the airline’s route network, codeshare agreements, and interline partnerships to maximise revenue and profitability. This role involves conducting in-depth market research, financial modelling, and performance analysis to drive strategic decision-making and operational efficiency. The incumbent will be the custodian of the reporting ecosystem and processes supporting the effective management of the airline route network and codeshare partnership.

Principal Accountabilities
Route Profitability: Conduct regular profitability analysis of the route network and airline partnerships to identify cost inefficiencies and revenue gaps and provide actionable recommendations to enhance business performance
Forecasting and Advisory: Lead in-depth analysis during route and codeshare development, focusing on connectivity, route contribution and strategic alignment to support network expansion and profitability goals
Reporting: Continuously evaluate and enhance profitability reporting frameworks for the route network and partnerships to maximise revenue generation and profitability
Reporting Tools: Develop and implement advanced revenue and profitability reporting tools for the network and airline partnerships to enable data driven decision making
Operating Costs: Conduct detailed operating cost analysis to identify the behaviour of key cost drivers and uncover opportunities for profit improvement, and the development of effective cost monitoring practices
Collaboration: Work closely with Finance and Data Analytics teams to refine and optimise business processes related to route network and airline partnerships profitability
Collaboration: Work in partnership with Network Planning and Alliances to identify and implement optimisation opportunities that enhance the efficiency and profitability of the airline
Financial Modelling: Conduct scenario analysis and financial modelling to evaluate impact of new route, codeshares and schedule changes on the bottom line of the airline
Performance Benchmarking: Establish performance benchmarks for route profitability and partnership effectiveness, regularly assessing performance against these standards
Stakeholder Communication: Prepare and present insights, reports, and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders, ensuring alignment on profitability strategies and initiatives
Review the effectiveness of commercial strategies and recommend best practice options for improvement

Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Financial Management or related field at NQF level 7
At least 3 – 5 years’ experience in driving profitability and cost analysis
Experience in delivering analysis to a high standard and working to deadlines in a fast paced, dynamic environment

Job Purpose
The Senior Specialist: Governance and Quality is responsible for leading and driving the provision of assurance on the quality, effectiveness, and ongoing improvement of the Internal Audit function and driving the implementation of the Internal Audit Quality Assurance and Improvement Programme (QAIP), enabling Internal Audit leadership to manage quality risks arising from operational and strategic changes, such as new methodologies, team expansion and changes in regulatory requirements.

This role is also responsible for the provision of Project Management and Operational support to the entire audit department, including impactful reporting to Governance Forums.

Principal Accountabilities
Design and maintain an industry-leading Quality Assurance and Improvement Programme (QAIP) in compliance with IIA Standards to assess the consistency and effectiveness of Internal Audit work. Undertake ongoing monitoring of performance against key indicators, ensuring the independence of the function, and reporting on QAIP matters to the CAE and Audit Committee including the performance of:
Internal Assessments: Evaluate audit compliance, professional judgment, and performance through thematic reviews, while reporting findings to senior leadership
External Assessments (EQAR): Manage and coordinate external reviews, ensuring team readiness, benchmarking against industry peers, and closing identified findings
Maintenance and Processes: Keep QAIP documentation, templates, and tools current, efficient, and aligned with quality governance standards
Drive enhancements to internal audit quality by proactively identifying, assessing, and monitoring emerging risks, regulatory developments, and industry trends. Leading the analysis of quality themes from QAIP activities, audit outcomes, and operating model changes and developing related improvement initiatives and actions for audit delivery and professional practices
Develop and maintain risk-based Internal Audit methodologies aligned with IIA standards, regulatory expectations, and company policies to support technology-enabled auditing, establishing quality standards, and ensuring adoption through training and communication across the function
Provide Internal Audit Project Management Office capabilities to ensure audits are conducted systematically, efficiently, and in compliance with professional standards. Bridge the gap between audit planning and execution, providing governance, standardization, and reporting support for the entire audit portfolio. Including, annual audit plan development process, scheduling and resourcing and budget monitoring
Provide operational support and reporting
Data Analysis:Collect and analyze project data to provide insights and improve future audits
Reporting:Prepare regular status reports, audit findings, and summaries for senior management and the Audit Committee
Tracking and Follow-up:Monitoring the implementation of recommendations and tracking remediation of audit findings
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Internal Audit/ Finance/ Commerce or other relevant to the audit profession at NQF level 7
Postgraduate Diploma or Honours degree in Accounting/ Auditing/ Finance/ Governance
Specialized Training: Formal training in quality assurance review techniques, risk management, and corporate governance (e.g., COSO framework)
A specific occupational qualification focusing on quality assurance
Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or other equivalent and relevant certification will be an advantage
Minimum 6 – 8 years’ experience in an Internal Audit environment of which 5 years is at a senior level
Work experience in a large organisation
Direct experience in conducting Quality Assurance and Improvement Programs (QAIP), including internal assessments or external quality assessments (EQA)
Experience leading an Internal Audit Project Management Office will be an advantage
Expert knowledge of IIA Global Standards, proficiency in regulatory compliance (specifically SA legislation like PFMA), and competence in audit software (e.g. Team Mate), advanced reporting skills (MS Word and PowerPoint)

Valid South African Airline Transport Pilot’s License, or a Commercial Pilot License having completed all the ground subjects for the ATPL (previously known as a Frozen ATPL). A valid ATPL License must be obtained within 4 years from date of employment with SAA with a multi engine instrument rating
Valid Class 1 medical
A minimum of 1,500 flying hours which includes 200 hours on multi-engine aircraft
Be a South African citizen with a valid Passport

Detailed knowledge and understanding of national and international aviation regulations such as CAA, ICAO, IATA, FAA, and EASA
