General Engineering Specialist (TMM)

- PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
- The General Engineering Specialist (TMM) Underground is a 2.6.1 appointment in terms of the MHS Act and is responsible for providing TMM and engineering operational service to the Declines Resident engineer, with a year planning horizon. The role ensures effective and safe Management, overseeing and maintenance of mining / engineering TMM equipment and engineering activities within the mining operation
- WORK OF ROLE
- Support the Section Engineer in developing an operational plan for the year to facilitate the achievement of throughput objectives
- Undertake to plan, up to 1-2 years ahead, the budget requirements according to the planned maintenance schedules verses operational targets
- Liaise with the Section Engineer regarding daily, weekly, and monthly progress to plan, budget, TMM and employees’ resources
- Review operational plan and re-assign targets and objectives to subordinates
- Manage people development processes
- Management of operational performance
- Workforce and equipment planning management
- Plan daily, weekly, and monthly work requirements and priorities
- Ensure that engineering administration requirements are complied with
- Ensure that technical data is accurate
- Comply with Environmental Policies
- Identifying, planning and execution of all strategic projects
- Execute SHERQ programs
- Provide input into functional planning
- Ensure continuous improvement of availability, MTBF/MTTR
- Ensure efficient use of water, lubricants, Oil, and fuel/ Diesel management
- Ensure spares/ major components availability to improve equipment performance, availability and reduce downtime
- QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12
- Trade Qualification
- Trade Certificate as Diesel Mechanic or Auto Electrician or Millwright
- National N6 Certificate in Engineering Studies (Required)
- Certificate in Basic Rigging and Working on Heights (Advantageous).
- EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 5 years’ post trade qualifications and a minimum of 5 years’ experience as Senior Engineering Foreman
- Five (5) Years Management Experience (Required)
- Eight (8) Years Maintenance or Engineering Services Experience Within a Mining TMM Environment (Required)
- Valid Code B Driving License (Required)
- KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Manufacturing knowledge (Platework /Machining/Fitting)
- Mechanical and structural drawing understanding
- Service environment
- English literate
- Behavioral Competencies: Business Acumen, Leadership Skills, Relationship Building Skills, Results Driven and Change Leadership Skills

Chief Ventilation Engineer

- PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
- The Chief Ventilation Engineer is also responsible for projects, as well as providing the mine with specialist ventilation, occupational hygiene and refrigeration services and expertise, to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
- WORK OF ROLE
- Audit compliance to standards, cop’s
- Audit shaft compliance to ventilation standards
- Baseline risk assessment for ventilation purposes in adjunction with occupational hygiene and medicine requirements / measurements
- Contributes to continuous improvement and asset optimisation initiatives for mining processes
- Develop ventilation and refrigeration mine design in line with live of lease and operational requirements
- Disaster management programmes
- Ensures compliance with all relevant legal, environmental, occupational health and safety and risk management standards and leading practices
- High level complex ventilation / refrigeration modelling
- Identify, evaluate, and control conditions that cause illness or adverse effects to persons
- Independent review of serious incidents and accidents
- Input into mining blueprint
- Manages resources to deliver section business targets
- Mine design layouts
- Mine ventilation and refrigeration standards
- Provides ventilation engineering expertise to production team and conducts audits to ensure effective ventilation engineering practice
- Reviews and agrees plans, designs, and models for ventilation engineering on a mine
- Trend analysis of ventilation parameters, conditions
- QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12
- Chamber Of Mines Certificate in Mine Environmental Control
Advantageous:
- Degree in Mining or Engineering
- Degree in Ventilation and Refrigeration Engineering
- Member of the Mine Ventilation Society
- Training, via courses, formal training, or practical experience in:
- Occupational Health legislation
- Management system formulation and implementation
- Safety, Health, and Environmental integration
- Hazard identification and risk assessment
- Extensive computer literacy in MS Office, budget control programs
- Specialised technical programs (e.g. VUMA or Ventsim)
- Registered Member in SAIOH as Occupational Hygienist
- EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 10 years’ practical experience in the ventilation field and at least 5 years as Ventilation Engineer
- KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Competent in 5.1(1), 9.2(2), 16.1(1) (MHSA) and chapter 12.1 (MHSA) as Occupational Hygiene Practitioner
- Sound knowledge pertaining to people management
- Working knowledge of specialist ventilation and refrigeration computer simulation programs

Electrician (SF)

- The Electrician maintains, install and commission the electrical components of the machinery and equipment to an agreed standard in the area of responsibility.

- Completing job cards and description of work and spares used (PM’s)
- Conducts and participate in risk assessments

Shaft Foreman

Heavy Vehicle Driver

- PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
- The Heavy Vehicle Driver is responsible to provide effective driving skills to operate a heavy-duty vehicle to transport material. The operator must use the equipment effectively to ensure productivity and minimise working cost through an appreciation of maintenance needs and good operating practice.
