Social Media Strategist – Cape Town based

Job Description

Social Media Strategist

Curve Gear | Cape Town

We’re looking for the person who can make South Africa stop scrolling and say: “That’s my brand.”

Curve Gear is hiring a Social Media Strategist to help build one of South Africa’s most exciting workwear and lifestyle brands online.

Curve Gear is not just selling clothing. We are building a brand for the people who build South Africa.

From construction sites and engineering projects to farms, workshops, factories and weekend adventures, Curve Gear creates premium workwear and lifestyle gear for men who need clothing that works as hard as they do.

We are looking for a Social Media Strategist who is passionate about social media, storytelling, brand building and content that actually moves people.

This is not a “just post something” role.

We need someone who can look at a jacket, boot, work shirt or pair of utility pants and see the story behind it. The person wearing it. The job it was made for. The lifestyle it represents. The pride behind the brand.

Curve Gear has grown from its industrial roots into a proudly South African workwear and menswear brand with stores across the country and a growing online presence. Now we want to take the brand to the next level on social media.

What you’ll do

You will be responsible for building and executing the social media strategy for Curve Gear across platforms like Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube.

You will help us turn products into stories, campaigns into conversations, and customers into a proud community.

Your role will include:

Developing monthly social media strategies and content plans.

Creating strong content ideas for Reels, TikToks, posts, carousels, campaigns and launches.

Writing captions, hooks and post concepts that speak directly to the Curve Gear customer.

Working with the creative team to plan shoots, product stories and campaign angles.

Spotting trends and turning them into relevant Curve Gear content.

Planning content around product drops, store launches, promotions, seasonal campaigns and brand moments.

Working with influencers, ambassadors, customers and real South African “providers” to tell authentic stories.

Understanding what performs and using insights to improve future content.

Making sure the Curve Gear voice stays strong, consistent and proudly South African.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for someone who loves social media and understands that a brand is built one story at a time.

You are probably the kind of person who notices a great hook, saves good ads, studies what brands are doing online, and has strong opinions about what makes content work.

You should be:

Passionate about social media, content and brand building.

Creative, but also strategic.

Good at spotting stories in everyday moments.

Comfortable writing clear, strong captions and content ideas.

Interested in South African culture, retail, workwear, lifestyle, sport, outdoor living and entrepreneurship.

Able to think like a customer, not just a marketer.

Organised enough to manage a content calendar.

Confident enough to bring new ideas to the table.

Curious about what makes people stop scrolling, engage and buy.

Experience we’d love to see

Experience in social media strategy, content creation, brand marketing or digital marketing.

A strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn and short-form video.

Experience working with retail, fashion, lifestyle, outdoor, workwear or e-commerce brands would be a bonus.

Basic understanding of Meta ads, content performance and online sales funnels would be helpful.

Copywriting skills are important.

A portfolio, examples of content strategies, social media pages you’ve managed, or content you’ve created will strengthen your application.

This role is perfect for you if…

You don’t want to just schedule posts.

You want to help build a brand people are proud to wear.

You understand that social media is not only about pretty pictures, but about emotion, timing, story, community and trust.

You can take a product like a work boot and turn it into a story about grit, pride and South African work ethic.

You can take a jacket and make people feel, “That’s me. That’s my lifestyle. That’s my brand.”
