FLEET CONTROLLER

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

  • The successful candidate must have Grade 12 with 3-5 years’ experience in a Supervisory /
    Managerial role and knowledge of the long-Distance Transport industry.
  • A Relevant tertiary qualification in the logistic field will be an added advantage.
  • Good, interpersonal, leadership, motivation planning, and communicating (verbal & written)
    skills as well as bilingualism will be essential.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Management of the assets and staff under your control and the meeting of objectives set in the
    budget process. Maximum Utilization of Vehicles, planning of loads, routes, fuel, overnight
    locations etc.
  • Service Level Agreements are met between MacDonald’s Transport and its customers.
  • Assets and staff comply with all statutory and legal requirements.
  • Accident / Incident investigation and submission of all documentation.
  • Ensuring that all equipment / machinery is serviced within the allowed service intervals and
    planned COF’s updated.
  • Maintaining of a high level of discipline, within the operations.
  • Ensuring staff under your control maintain high level of service to customers.
  • Preparation and submission of leave schedules in such a manner as to not effect customer
    requirements.
  • Administrative duties and Document control. Solving of queries and problem solving
  • Management of Drive-Cam as well as Tracking reports.
  • Deadline Driven
  • Submission of Monthly Management reports
  • Must be willing to work Long hours and on Weekend if and when required.

SEMI-SKILLED ARTISAN (TRAILER MECHANIC)

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
The successful candidate must have Grade 12, a minimum of 5 years’ relevant diesel technical
experience. Must be a good communicator (verbal & written), with knowledge of the Health & Safety
requirements. The person must have the ability to function independently and in a team. The person
must have experience in maintenance on truck trailers and must have experience in welding. Must be
prepared to work after hours and weekends. Must be able to work under pressure. Valid Code 14
driver’s license.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Time management.
  • Ensure that worksheets are completed correct.
  • Ensure that workshop is neat and tidy.
  • Proactive problem identification of possible truck defects.
  • Maintenance of equipment as and when necessary.

COMPANY SECRETARY

The successful person must be energetic, dynamic, good-natured and highly organized, with a minimum
of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar environment. Superior computer skills in MS Office
package, supported by good human relationships and communication skills.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Professionally manage the switchboard, handling all incoming and outgoing calls efficiently.
  • Answer a high volume of calls while maintaining a rapid response rate in line with agreed service
    standards.
  • Perform reception duties in an efficient, professional, and courteous manner.
  • Accurately record and relay messages from customers and colleagues, ensuring they reach the
    correct person promptly.
  • Manage and update speed dial numbers and extension list on the telephone system, ensuring
    updated lists are distributed throughout the depot.
  • Procure and manage office stationery, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained.
  • Provide administrative and operational support to the Board of Directors, Executive Committee
    (Exco), and Head of Finance.
  • Assist with the coordination and organization of social and marketing events.
  • Maintain and contract register of Clients and credit agreements.

DRIVER: TRAINER

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Grade 12
  • Train the trainer certification.
  • Assessor & Moderator certificate and registration with TETA would be advantageous.
  • Minimum of 5 years previous truck driving experience (Super links)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in training and coaching long-distance drivers.
  • In-depth knowledge of the operating and legislation requirements of the transport and logistics
    industry.
  • Excellent communication skills in English/Afrikaans (speaking, reading and writing).
  • Knowledge of TETA accredited training requirements would be an advantage.
  • Code EC (14) driver’s license with no endorsements.
  • Valid PDP.
  • Must be willing to travel with other drivers for a duration of at least 4 weeks in order to conduct
    on the job coaching.
  • Must have working knowledge/experience of Super links (Tippers, Flat-decks, Drop-side Trailers)
  • Must have working knowledge/experience of Scania and Volvo manufactured vehicles (6×4 truck
    tractor)

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • To conduct classroom training, on-road training/coaching and driver assessments in line with
    company requirements, in order to ensure that all professional drivers employed by the
    organization meet performance standards and requirements.
  • Assist with the preparation and scheduling of training interventions.
  • Manage driver training programs (classroom and on-road training) for new and existing
    professional drivers. Conduct relevant assessments on professional drivers which may, as part
    of your duties, include classroom assessment, benchmark assessments against company
    requirements/policies (Short routes and long distance)
  • Develop and prepare contract specific appendices (including Safe working Procedures and
    Planned job Observations)

GENERAL MANAGER: OPERATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Relevant qualification in Transport Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Management,
    or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years’ management experience within the transport and logistics industry.
  • Strong knowledge of fleet management, budgeting, operational planning, and transport
    legislation.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer literate with experience in fleet management and tracking systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Applicants must be willing to work extended hours and weekends when operational
    requirements demand.

  • To manage and oversee the National FlatDeck operations consisting of line-haul fleet as well as
    the management of personnel in different departments in the Upington depot.
  • Ensure achievement of revenue, profitability, kilometre production, efficiency, and growth
    targets.
  • Oversee fleet planning, route optimization, load planning, and vehicle utilization.
  • Lead and manage operational staff, promoting high performance, accountability, and discipline.
  • Monitor fuel consumption, fleet performance, tracking systems, and Drive-Cam reports.

    company requirements.

COORDINATOR: TRANSPORT

Qualifications & Competencies Required:

  • The successful candidate must have Grade 12 with 3-5 years’ experience in the long-Distance Transport industry.
  • A Relevant tertiary qualification in the logistic field will be an added advantage.
  • Organizational skills, good communicator (verbal & written), with knowledge of the Health & Safety requirements.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure that vehicles that are loading and off-loading achieve their turn-around targets.
  • Daily planning and communication with Upington and Johannesburg operations regarding loading and offloading points
    and vehicle details.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and off-loading point to ensure efficient loading and off-loading of
    vehicles.
  • Identify and open opportunities of preospective customers.
  • Assist management, operations, and drivers with additional ad-hoc functions where needed.

Field Technician (Earthmoving Machines)

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience.
