Bergrivier Municipality ensures the well-being of all communities within the Bergrivier region through

As part of Bergrivier Municipality’s job creation program (EXTENDED PUBLIC WORKS PROGRAM
– EPWP) the following temporary vacancies are available for the relevant period as indicated and
as the vacancies are temporary in nature, there can be no expectation of renewal or extension of
the contract or a permanent appointment.

Job Requirements: Grade 12 ∙ Between 18 and 35 years ∙ Fluent in at least two of the official languages of the
Western Cape (Afrikaans, English, isiXhosa – Read, Write and Speak) ∙ NO CRIMINAL record and police security
clearance (not older than 3 months) or proof of payment to be submitted with application ∙ Must be physically
fit and mentally health ∙ Ability to work as part of a team ∙ High level of responsibility ∙ Must work overtime when
required ∙ Must not have been part of this program previously ∙ Candidates must reside within the Bergrivier
Municipal area (proof of address and a sworn affidavit must accompany this application).
Candidates should not have a fear of confined spaces, heights, depths, water, blood and corpses.
Duties: To perform basic firefighting and disaster management functions
Remuneration: R 250 per day
Work Hours: 40 hours per week. Candidates must be willing to work after-hours and over weekends, Must also
on request, from time to time render services in other parts of the municipal area.
Contract period: 01 September 2026 till 30 June 2027 or as otherwise agreed.
A compulsory fitness test will take place on Friday, 7 August 2026 at 09:00 at Rhino Park Sportsground, Sarel
Cilliers Street, Piketberg. Candidates who arrive late will not be tested. Candidates must be dressed in comfortable
training clothes.
A covering letter stating at least two contactable references, accompanied by the completed prescribed application
form (available upon request at Tel: 022 913 6000 or on the municipality’s website at www.bergmun.org.za ), a
Curriculum Vitae (maximum 3 pages) and certified copies of the required qualification certificates , identity
document and must be submitted to the Municipal Offices, Piketberg or can be posted to PO Box 60, Piketberg,
7320 for the attention of Mr Noel Williams to reach him by no later than the closing date.
