Pricing Business Analyst (Fixed Term Contract – 24 months)
Job Purpose
Job Description
- Identify markets that will deliver revenue at minimal cost through value chain and discount optimisation to ensure margins are maximised.
- Perform market research, focusing on product pricing and discount matrix, to ensure the business is informed on possible revenue/cost impact.
- Perform profitability analysis on business cases as presented by the business whether current or new business to ensure a business portfolio that minimises risks and maximises margins.
- Administer the Basic Fuel Price (BFP) pricing mechanism and develop models for routine price calculations.
- Maintain and update SAP master data with the correct and current elements of pricing for all traded products to ensure pricing is aligned to contracts, billing is accurate and price variances are kept at a minimum level.
- Coordinate all administration related to pricing issues on SAP to ensure that an auditable record of changes is maintained.
- Develop, maintain and back-test price forecasting models that provide price inputs for the monthly refinery production, annual business planning and capital project valuations to ensure the validity of modelling techniques used and assumptions
- Prepare reports on price trends and economic activity to ensure that management is aware of this information and takes it into consideration when making business decisions
- Represent PetroSA at external engagements such as at the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR) and any other industry/regulatory forums.
- Contain expenditure within the budget guidelines to ensure that funds are optimally utilised in service delivery.
- Assist and provide guidance to customers relating to pricing to ensure quality customer service.
Requirements & Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
- Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7)/Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting Economics or Engineering
Minimum work experience:
- 5 – 7 years’ relevant accounting/pricing experience; preferably within an Oil product pricing environment
- Proficiency in Sales & Distribution (S/D) SAP Module is a prerequisite

Trade Controller (Fixed Term Contract – 24 months)
Job Purpose
Perform trading control and compliance functions by implementing the risk processes and independently monitor and report on all direct risks the division is exposed to ensure that the potential risks associated with trading are identified and mitigated.
Job Description
- Perform portfolio valuation and performance management by calculating and reporting on daily trading exposures, profits/losses on deal transactions, independent fair valuation of trading deals and report on key performance indicators to ensure business is covered for the risk assumed.
- Propose and implement price risk management procedures and controls by monitoring adherence to Front Office trading limits, perform trade confirmations, and track and report amendments to trading deals to ensure compliance.
- Provide inputs into the development of price risk management policies and procedures that are in line with the legislation and make recommendation on changes to ensure compliance to controls, standards and regulations.
- Analyse external global market/ external environment for best practice in terms of trading controls, benchmark on trading performance reporting, and provide recommendation to the business to ensure alignment with the industry.
- Participate and contribute in implementation of departmental projects/ initiatives in accordance with PetroSA’s policies and procedures to ensure project milestones are met, objectives achieved and effective project structures are in place to ensure continuous business improvement/ best practice.

- Provide an advisory service to customers with information relating to Middle Office Department to ensure quality customer service.
Requirements & Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
- Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7)/ Bachelor’s degree in Business Science/ Accounting (Management & Financial Accounting)
Minimum work experience:
- 5 years’ experience in the financial environment in the Middle Office of which 2 years was spent in Trading
- Knowledge of risk controls and compliance
- Exposure to equity derivatives and market risk analysis in an Oil and Gas industry trading environment would be advantageous

Senior Trader (Fixed Term Contract – 24 months)
Job Purpose
Supervise the day-to-day trading activities, including proposing new trading strategies to align trading activities with changing market trends and improve profitability; execute purchases and sales of petroleum products, feedstock and blend-stock; supervise trading staff; and propose optimisation strategies around existing business assets to ensure profitability to the business.
Job Description
- Supervise the implementation of the group strategy and plans as directed by the Trading Manager within the Trading department, and ensure alignment between relevant departments and PetroSA divisions in realising existing and new business opportunities.
- Supervise the purchasing and sale of fuel products, crude oil and refinery feedstock by being actively present in the market, understanding the petroleum market landscape, executing physical crude, product and derivatives trades, and building sound counterparty relationships to ensure profitable growth and the reduction of feedstock costs.
- Supervise the price risk function together with the Trading Manager and Risk Manager by ensuring trade reconciliation and broker validation are performed, trading solutions are implemented to mitigate and manage risk within tolerable levels and limits, and a clear, traceable link between physical and paper trades is maintained for all trades.
- Monitor and supervise the supplier management function by communicating factors that might impact PetroSA’s business and identifying opportunities that can be further explored, to protect against reputational risk and identify profitable growth opportunities.
- Maintain existing relationships and partnerships, identify business threats and strengths that could impact PetroSA, and negotiate and execute trading deals with suppliers and third parties, evaluating associated risks to secure flexible, market-related terms and a profitable sales margin.
- Monitor and analyse external global market and environmental factors and benchmark specific business opportunities to evaluate the best outcome and fit with existing business, ensuring market opportunities are identified and PetroSA’s reputation as a professional organisation with a high level of integrity is maintained.
- Maintain strategic direction as guided by the Trading Manager and Risk Manager by ensuring compliance with existing policies and procedures, and provide recommendations and opinions to the Trading Manager, Executive: Trading, Executive: Sales and Marketing and the governance committees to ensure compliance with controls, standards and regulations.
- Develop and maintain an on-going knowledge of trading-related standards for ports, facilities and pipelines to ensure compliance with PetroSA’s policies, procedures and related regulations.
- Develop and negotiate service level agreements with internal and external stakeholders, review these on a regular basis, and monitor compliance with performance criteria, alerting management of any deviation from agreed standards.
- Supervise and perform price risk management by executing approved price risk management strategies and tools, hedging price risk exposures and protecting margins, and monitoring open paper positions through daily mark-to-market procedures.
- Build and maintain an understanding of the delegation of authority limits and trading-specific systems to ensure optimum system utilisation and compliance for every deal, and good corporate governance in the trading department.
- Provide the required information for internal audit purposes in compliance with PetroSA’s policies and procedures.
- Align the execution of trading deals with shipping activities, together with the Shipping Manager, ensuring market deal analysis, shipping demand, chartering and scheduling are available for efficient departmental operation and the reduction of operational costs.
- Supervise and monitor the business solutions applied to the optimisation of strategic stock directives, to ensure optimum margins are derived from stock holding and to seek opportunities for profit generation associated with strategic stock.
- Monitor and give input on the management of OPEX and departmental budgets for the trading department, and monitor distribution/logistics costs against budget targets, ensuring elements showing high variance are corrected.
- Provide and ensure trading gives customers the required information to enable physical deals to be executed within the required time periods, and provide assistance for new business development within other PetroSA divisions related to supply chain optimisation or integration of new products.
- Foster a culture of self-development, provide leadership, technical advice and mentorship to the trading discipline, and support a business environment open to creative ideas for new business opportunities and system improvements.

Job Description
- Execute the purchasing and sales function/ process by being actively present in the market, using postulates to perform analysis, develop demand and supply scenarios, execute physical crude oil, product and derivative trades, and assist with the execution of trading operations and reporting, ensuring a positive contribution for trading deal outcomes including optimisation opportunities for refinery or assets belonging to the organisation, and building sound relationships with counterparties to ensure sustainability is offered through profitable growth and the reduction of feedstock costs.
- Design and execute business solutions for optimisation of overland trading and third-party trading to ensure optimum margins are derived and to seek opportunities for profit generation associated with overland and third-party trading.
- Execute the price risk function/ process by assisting with trade reconciliation and broker validation, establish trading solutions ensuring risk levels are within allowable limits, and that a clear link for physical and paper positions exist for all new business architecture, to ensure risk exposure is mitigated and business targets are met.
- Design and execute business solutions for optimisation of strategic stock directives for the strategic stock trading function/ process to ensure optimum margins are derived from stock holdings and to seek opportunities for profit generation associated with strategic stock.

Auto Electrician
Job Purpose
Implement operating procedures to inspect, troubleshoot and maintain electrical systems and components on petrol/diesel powered equipment used in the plant to ensure maximum equipment/machinery availability for production to take place.
Job Description
- Service and repair all electrical systems and components on diesel/petrol powered equipment/machinery used in the plant to ensure maximum equipment availability for production to take place.
- Inspect, test and conduct auto electrical maintenance on diesel/petrol powered equipment/machinery to ensure maximum availability.
- Perform troubleshooting on electrical systems on diesel/petrol powered equipment/machinery and identify and resolve the problems to ensure maximum availability of equipment.
- Rewire equipment and install electrical components on diesel/petrol powered equipment/machinery to ensure maximum availability of equipment.
- Participate in the execution of projects, shutdown and turnarounds being undertaken by the Mobile Equipment Workshop to ensure that services are delivered on time, on spec and within budget.
- Provide the relevant input to update the relevant quality management systems to ensure that all the required information is captured and stored for planning, referencing and audit purposes.
- Provide technical support, when required, to PetroSA depots in Bloemfontein and Tzaneen, as well as offshore installations such as the EM Buoy and FA Platform, to ensure the availability, reliability and safe operation of equipment and machinery.
- Perform standby duties as per the standby roster to provide technical support to the responsibility area as required.
- Execute specialised activities in the workshop to ensure maximum availability of equipment for production to take place.
- Implement SHEQ, housekeeping and the relevant workshop operating procedures to ensure that the workplace is kept clean and safe for operation at all times.
