Are you a recent graduate aspiring to establish a career in asset management and contribute
to the continued advancement of the investment industry?

The Public Investment Corporation (PIC) invites high-performing, motivated graduates to apply for
its Graduate Development Programme, a structured pathway designed to develop the next
generation of investment professionals. Through targeted learning and practical workplace
exposure, participants will acquire the technical knowledge, professional capabilities and industry
experience required to contribute effectively to the asset management sector and support South
Africa’s economic growth and development objectives.

About the Programme:
The PIC Graduate Development Programme (GDP) is a structured workplace development initiative
that supports the transition of high-potential graduates from academic study into professional careers
within the asset and investment management sector. The programme combines targeted learning
interventions, practical on-the-job experience, mentorship and exposure to relevant business
functions across the PIC.

Participants will develop technical expertise, commercial awareness, professional competencies and
an understanding of governance, risk and responsible investment practices. Through exposure to
the broader investment management value chain, graduates will gain insight into how the PIC
executes its mandate, manages client assets and contributes to sustainable economic growth and
development in South Africa. The programme is designed to cultivate capable, ethical and adaptable
professionals who can contribute meaningfully to the PIC and the broader financial services industry.

Qualifying Criteria:
▪ Comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV)
▪ Certified copy of South African Identity Document
▪ Studying towards a minimum NQF7 qualification from an Accredited Institution of Higher
Learning
▪ Have achieved a minimum overall academic average of 60% in their completed qualification.

▪ Certified copies of qualifications and/or latest academic results
▪ Official academic transcript
▪ No prior participation in a similar graduate programme.
▪ A strong desire to work in financial services (Asset and Investment management)
▪ Proven record of academic excellence.
▪ Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Advisor to the Board Chairperson

The Public Investment Corporation SOC Limited (PIC) is an asset management firm, whose

Unemployment Insurance Fund and the Compensation Fund. Over the years, we have grown

We are currently seeking applications from dynamic individuals for the following position:

• Position: Advisor to the Board Chairperson
• *Job Grade: C3-D2

• Contract Term: The appointment is linked to the term of office of the incumbent
  Chairperson of the PIC Board.

Purpose of the role:
The Advisor to the Board Chairperson provides independent, professional and analytical support to the
Chairperson in the execution of leadership, governance and oversight responsibilities. The Adviser serves
in a strictly advisory capacity and does not exercise executive, management or decision-making authority.
The role does not replace or diminish the responsibilities of the Board, Board Committees, Chief Executive
Officer, Executive Management or the Company Secretary.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications and experience:

• A bachelor’s degree in law, Public Administration, Economics, Finance, Governance or
  Related discipline.
• A minimum of 5-8 years relevant working experience.
• Sound understanding of corporate governance principles, fiduciary responsibilities, board
  effectiveness and oversight practices.

Duties:
Support the Chairperson in preparation for Board and governance meetings by:

• Reviewing Board agendas, papers and supporting documentation;
• Prepare concise and confidential briefings for the Chairperson on matters requiring
  Chairperson’s attention;
• Support the Chairperson in strategic stakeholder engagements;
• Provide independent analytical support to strengthen the Chairperson’s oversight
  responsibilities;
• Support the Chairperson in preparing for Board and other significant governance meetings;
• Analysing strategic, investment, financial, governance, risk, audit and organisational
  performance reports;
• Identifying significant risks, information gaps, inconsistencies and matters requiring
  clarification;
• Highlighting issues requiring additional evidence or management input;
• Identifying strategic questions and discussion points to support effective Board deliberations
  and decision-making.

• Ability to generate pre-Board briefing notes and Board-paper analyses;
• Ability to provide strategic and governance briefs;
• Independent research and governance risk analysis;

Investment Associate: Multi-Management: Private Markets

Purpose of the role:
As part of the Multi-Management: Private Markets team; the incumbent will assist the Head of MultiManagement: Private Markets in providing leadership and strategic vision for the fund investment
business.

Requirements:

• Honours degree (Hons) (e.g. BCom , BAcc, B Bus, BSc, etc in financial management, finance,
  investment management or related equivalent qualification)
• Master’s degree qualification would be advantageous
• 4 to 6 years investment experience. Private equity, fund of funds or multi-manager experience
  would be advantageous
• Private equity industry knowledge
• FAIS RE 05 Certificate or must be obtained within 6 months of employment

Duties:

• Deal sourcing – assist in identifying investment partners and opportunities
• Deal screening – desktop analysis of investment opportunities
• Preparation of preliminary scoping reports
• Assist the transaction lead throughout the investment process
• Assist in conducting and coordinating due diligence on potential investment opportunities
• Assist the transaction lead in structuring and pricing of transactions
• Assist the transaction lead in negotiation of term sheets
• Preparation of appraisal reports
• Review and comment on transaction agreements
• Participate in the implementation and disbursement process
• Assist the transaction lead in the handover of approved transactions to various divisions
  including portfolio management
• Ongoing monitoring of a portfolio of funds, including review of quarterly reports, valuation, risk
  management, compliance, and reporting
• Participate in the exit process for transactions
