TAU Mining Consultants (Pty) Ltd. currently have the following vacancy available at our Head Office in
Woodmead, Johannesburg:

Nature of employment: Permanent Position
Payroll category: Salaried Staff
Reports to: Financial Director

Job purpose: To oversee the financial and payroll department including leading the financial planning,
analysis, and budgeting requirements for the TAU group of companies.

Key performance areas:
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Oversee all financial operational tasks (including treasury, debtors, creditors, fixed assets,
    financing arrangements, payroll)
  • Lead the financial planning process for the TAU Group within deadlines
  • Assist with preparation of 3-year business plans for the TAU Group including analyzing
    deviations from budget
  • Preparation of monthly presentations and financial reports to the Financial Director
  • Preparation of the consolidated results for the TAU Group
  • Lead the preparation of the Annual Financial Statements for the TAU Group
  • Update cash flow requirements on a weekly basis
  • Analysis and validation of all project and overhead costs monthly
  • Prepare project performance reports and implement dashboard reporting
  • Project manage and lead the upgrade of the ERP implementation
  • Collate capital requirements for the TAU Group and track deviations
  • Review the VAT submission to SARS
  • Preparation of the tax computations for the TAU Group of companies
  • Assist with the preparation of the insurance declaration
  • Assist with the preparation of the Workman’s compensation declaration
  • Responsible for the Executive Payroll
  • Review all payroll and finance processes and recommend improvements
  • Compilation of policies and procedures for the finance and payroll areas
  • Oversee and manage the cash of the company
  • Responsible for driving debtors’ collection and ensuring that creditors are paid timeously
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to provide meaningful analysis for strategic business
    initiatives.
  • Coach and mentor team
  • Assist with the review and calculations for the BEE audits
  • Effective review and coordination of the balance sheet reconciliation process
  • Lead the external and internal audit processes
  • Effective leadership of a team of finance professionals

Minimum Job requirements:

  • Bcom Honours in Financial Management/Accounting
  • Registered CA(SA)
  • Proficient in MS Office (Advanced Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Sage or similar ERP system experience advantageous
  • Contract mining industry experience advantageous
  • Africa experience advantageous
  • Experience on Pragma advantageous
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the preparation and analysis of 3-year financial budgets and
    analytics
  • 5-10 years operational finance experience including (cash, fixed assets, debtors, fixed assets,
    financing and reporting)
  • 5-10 years’ people management experience

Knowledge, Attitude, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with an eye for detail
  • Solid knowledge of relevant legislation and standards including Companies Act, VAT, TAX, IFRS
  • Strategic thinking skills with sound business accumen
  • An innovative thinker with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Strong leadership skills
  • A willingness to travel occasionally to different sites
