Winding Engine Driver

Requirements:

1. Purpose of Role
-The Winding Engine Driver is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the shaft winder for the haulage of ore, persons and materials during a shift

2. Work of Role
-Safe and effective operation of the winder during a shift, within the framework of the act and identifying electrical and/or mechanical faults
-Performing ore pulling operations from relevant levels
-Co-ordinate winding activities with total process requirements
-Compiling accurate shift reports
-Responding to standard hauling signals
-Assist during breakdowns or emergencies
-Help engineering employees to maintain equipment in the winder area
-Ensuring safe and reliable workmanship
-Adhering to all safety, emergency and first aid procedures
-Interacting with other teams and systems
-Maintaining own safe and productive workplace
-Advising defects and abnormalities

3. Qualifications
-Grade 12
-Winding Engine Driver Certificate

4. Experience
-Minimum of 3 years experience as Winding Engine Driver

5. Knowledge and Skills
-WED special medical examination (Red Ticket – Gamma GT/Urine/Lungs/Eyes/Colour Blindness)

Mine Overseer

Requirements:

1. Purpose of Role
-The Mine Overseer therefore has the accountability to manage and plan for the development & provision of mining work practices, structures and services, which will contribute to the overall safety, health, and sustained profitability of the operational area

2. Work of Role
-Maintaining health and safety
-Manage the operation of section
-Direct area resource specialists for technical support requirements
-Investigates and reports any incidents / injuries
-Ensure that employees work in a safe environment by ensuring that the shift supervisors remained focused on their core role responsibilities
-Contribute and participate in the shafts planning process to achieve optimum and integrated plans for the section as well as the total BA and BU
-Identify opportunities to improve operation efficiencies in the section as well as BA especially from a mining perspective
-Initiate and co-ordinate improvement projects to increase in-stope efficiencies
-Ensure that management systems and practices are in place for effective business governance
-Identify and support efforts to overcome operational problems

3. Qualifications
-Mine Overseer Certificate for Scheduled Mines
-Shift Supervisor Certificate
-Blasting Certificate
-Grade 12
-Mining Degree or Diploma – Advantageous
-Mine Managers Certificate – Advantageous

4. Experience
-Minimum 5 years mining experience at metalliferous mines, of which at least 2 years should be as an appointed Shift Supervisor
-Minimum 6 months acting exposure as Mine Overseer (2.14.1 plus 2.13.12 appointment)

5. Knowledge and Skills
-Mine Health and Safety Act knowledge
-Computer literate
-First Aid Certificate
