RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure MTN SA and its 10 subsidiaries meet MTN Group Financial Reporting Deadlines
  • Ensure MTN SA and its 10 subsidiaries Annual Financial Statement meet IFRS, JSE and MTN Group Financial Reporting Standards
  • MTN centric’ and ‘partnership approach’ to develop strong relationships with other working groups by ensuring timeous, accurate and complete responses to all issues raised.

Governance

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and standards in financial reporting and disclosures, such as JSE and ICASA filings 
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of internal control procedures. This includes policies, procedures manuals, process flows, and control matrices.
  • Collect evidence to support adherence to internal controls. This may include transaction records, approval logs, reconciliation reports, and system-generated audit trails.
  • Implement monitoring mechanisms to track adherence to internal controls.
  • Participate and provide inputs in operational meetings in order to solve problems and strengthen relationships,
  • Set up and manage adhoc meetings
  • Ensure coordination, communication and control between function and process owners.

Escalations

  • Timely notification of escalations to the Manager;
  • Timeous responses to queries raised by all stakeholders both internally and externally. 

Operational

  • Participate and provide inputs to project status meetings;

Strategic Meetings 

  • Provide input in strategic meetings when required

 Board Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of packs (information only) for Board meetings for MTN SA and its Subsidiaries  
  • Assist with the Company Secretarial responsibilities in South Africa, as and when required for MTN SA and its Subsidiaries.

Guidance and Support Management on Accounting Matters

  • Contribute as a subject matter expert in the development, improvement, monitoring and maintenance of MTN SA and its subsidiaries accounting policies, procedures and templates on financial reporting 
  • Provide guidance to MTN SA and its subsidiaries on statutory accounting and reporting requirements with respect to the preparation of financial statements 
  • Provide technical advice to MTN SA and its Subsidiaries (for example, on product development and non-routine transactions, etc); 
  • Prepare the financial statements and ensure continuous improvement and compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and related developments 
  • Liase with MTN SA Finance and MTN Group Technical with respect technical accounting papers/topics as a result of changes in IFRS and / or other relevant accounting changes 
  • Understand customer feedback and create innovative solutions for better service delivery 

Preparation of Financial Statement and Reporting Pack 

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, half year and annual financial reports pack, including income statements, balance sheets, Cash flow statements and the disclosures requirements
  • Compile and drafting the annual and interim financial statements for MTN SA and its subsidiaries in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (IFRS and GAAP) or other relevant standards

Month-end – Inter-company Reporting 

  • Verify that intercompany balances agree between parties;
  • Discrepancies must identified and followed up in line with the month end schedule;
  • Responsible for implementing the intercompany policy as well as the consolidations for MTN SA and its subsidiaries. 
  • Upon successful transfer of inter-company transactions to relevant system, the accounting period must be closed. If any discrepancies are identified these must be resolved prior to closing the period
  • Follow up on inter-company reconciling items so that clean GL reconciliations are maintained within the agreed timeline. 
  • Intercompany transactions, including sales, purchases, and transfers of assets, must be accurately recorded and eliminated to prevent double counting and maintain the integrity of financial statements. Resolving intercompany balances and reconciling differences adds another layer of complexity to the reporting processes 
  • Maintain appropriate governance structures and processes relating to the group consolidation, including management of intercompany balances. 

Month-end – Financial Reporting

  • Submission and maintain financial records for MTN RSA a Subsidiaries into MTN Group Financial system 
  • Manage the consolidation of the monthly, quarterly and annual MTN RSA group financial results i.e., The MTN RSA consolidated pack 
  • Provide input on complex group transactions (i.e. the deconsolidation process of entities upon disposal). 
  • Perform reviews and reconciliations to ensure that the FCC system has consolidated appropriately. 
  • Provide support to operating entities on a monthly basis, to address any reporting challenges encountered; 
  • Provide support to the auditors during major reporting periods. 
  • Perform equity accounting for joint ventures within the MTN RSA companies. 
  • Prepare the Statement of Changes in Equity monthly and follow up with entities to ensure correct accounting treatment on transactions that affect equity. 
  • Prepare the IFRS 7 disclosures; inputs on queries). 
  • Provide inputs and extensive support on the migration between two consolidation systems. 
  • Provide support to the systems team in testing new developments. 
  • Provide support and assistance to a team of two and to MTN Group Consolidation 
  • Manage the consolidation of the monthly, quarterly and annual group financial results, budgets and forecasts 
  • Maintain processes and systems for reporting actual, financial information for MTN SA and its subsidiaries to Group Finance 
  • Perform a first level review of financial submissions from operations to identify anomalies 
  • Verify that the MTN RSA consolidation is prepared in compliance with IFRS and regulatory requirements. 
  • Obtain an understanding and process the accounting entries for corporate actions that impact the Group’s consolidated results.
  • Submission of MTN SA and its subsidiaries of financial information packs
  • Perform a first level review of financial submissions from operations to identify anomalies
  • Obtain an understanding and process the impact of corporate actions on the MTN SA results.
  • Support the larger finance community by providing financial information on request
  • Upon successful transfer to relevant system, the accounting period must be closed. If any discrepancies are identified these must be resolved prior to closing the period
  • Maintain appropriate governance processes relating to the MTN RSA group consolidation, including management consolidation journals

Supervisory / Leadership / Managerial Complexity:

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure that financial reporting requirements and deliverables are met 
  • Interact with colleagues and executives and lead the implementation of changes in reporting to meet business needs

External/Internal audits

  • Prepare for the external/Internal audit in line with the reporting policy;
  • Provide external/internal auditors with all information required to perform audit procedures;
  • Record and keep record of all audit differences identified during the audit.
  • Liaise with external auditors on the audit of the multiple group consolidations

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

  • 2-3 years relevant work experience in financial reporting operations;
  • Experience in accounting for complex consolidations in a multinational environment,
  • Completed (SAICA) articles.

Training/ Experience :

Mission/ Core purpose of the Job 

End-to End accountability of Supersonic Marketing in order to achieve business objectives with a focus on achieving the new sales target and customer retention

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Performance Areas: 

  • Assist in the formulation of the Supersonic strategy from a Brand, new sales and CVM perspective in line with the overarching business goals. 
  • Define the Supersonic acquisition and customer retention marketing strategies, including customer journey and customer communication
  • Identify, plan and implement/build the analytical capabilities required to deliver the Supersonic marketing strategy 
  • Deploy successful marketing campaigns and own their implementation from ideation to execution
  • Use digital marketing expertise to customize campaigns for different customer segments, increasing campaign effectiveness and boosting marketing ROI.

To drive the effective implementation of the Post-paid segment value propositions with a focus on promotions, Go To Market (GTM) and experience design strategies; To ensure continuous improvement to the overall combination of services provided to the customer segment in order to maximize market penetration, growth, and profitability, through an enhanced customer experience; To identify market and competitive trends, develop and refine relevant post-paid promotions to match these trends as well as develop marketing strategies to drive growth in the segments in conjunction with the relevant departments of marketing.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Segment Management

  • Drive the effective implementation of MTN SA’s post-paid segment value propositions focussing on post-paid promotions; GTM; customer experience design, ensuring maximum market penetration, growth, and profitability. 
  • Understand the relevant market and customer behavioural needs, trends and develop relevant post-paid promotions to meet those needs.
  • Manage, monitor, and optimise the customer experience (internal and external) of the segment at all touch points. 

Governance

Ad-hoc, operational and tactical meeting

  • Set up / participate in ad-hoc and operational meetings.
  • Participate and provide input into tactical meetings.
  • Report at process and functional level.

Escalations

  • Manage and resolve escalations that have impact on critical path of service delivery.

  • Operationally execute the postpaid segment business plan, focusing on the post-paid customer promotions, aligned with the GTM model
  • Ensure synergy across the functional areas through effective management of inter-functional relations and activities.
  • Ensure that local business requirements for key post-paid Customer Value Management (CVM) are defined, including campaign management and measurement systems.
  • Manage the implementation of marketing frameworks for post-paid segments and ensure it is increasing brand presence across the customers in this segment; and
  • Manage the segment delivery of the monthly Deal Book – Y’ello Trader ensuring the brief is finalised and communicated within the timelines provided and content is accurately represented.

  • Drive continuous improvement across the teams’ ability to leverage data to drive marketing strategy to deliver market and regionally focused experiences.

Strategic Input

  • Work with “Senior Fintech Technical” Lead/s, to identify key changes to fintech systems in the future from technological, commercial, business and consumer behaviour perspectives.

  • Ensure that all systems (or set of systems) are properly documented for Operations by the Vendor/s; and that System/Project handovers are done to Operational areas.  Partake in ATPs (Acceptance Test Procedures) together with vendors and assist with automation of any ATP procedures.      In addition, ensure that all systems (or set of systems) are properly documented for Operations by the vendor and that they are handed over.

Core Planning Functions

  • Ensure that the team works on the development of products and perform capacity planning of services in line with business requirements and budgetary priorities within IT.
  • Ensure that the team defines, plans, architects and implements requirements with vendors and Operational areas.
  • Ensure that System Documentation is updated with each project, showing functional architecture, use cases, functional logic and that quality is determined by whether an alternative vendor could use it to reproduce a systems functioning with least 95% level of accuracy.
  • Ensure that Requirement Analysis and the supply of Functional Specifications to vendors happens for each project/initiative.
  • Ensure that each System has up to date architecture documentation that is an accurate and true reflection of all systems.
  • Monitor vendor performance and hold regular meetings to go through all issues.  Healthy vendor relationships must always be maintained. 
  • Ensure that one performs the necessary analysis, design, modelling and documentation tasks necessary to pass MTN IS governance forums.
  • Ensure that vendors (whether they do development or system configuration) are correctly driven, and that in-house business and resultant functional logic is maintained within MTN through the supply of fully fledged and detailed specifications and ensure that vendors are driven to fulfil these.
  • Ensure that any common business rules, metrics and measures set in IS are followed.
  • Planning of a systems footprint, licensing and utilisation must take place for any special events or “special” events like Black Friday. This includes:
    • Software Upgrades on platforms;
    • Hardware replacements or forklifts;
    • New hardware; and
    • Licensing upgrades.
  • The Fintech Technical Lead shall be able to work in a “agile” team or in a “waterfall” team to deliver projects and system objectives.

Job Requirements 

Education / Business Degree:

Work Experience:

  • The Fintech Technical Lead must be widely read and know about many facets of Telecoms including open-source projects and Fintech technologies in general; touching on MoMo, Loans & Lending and Insuretech technologies and current “leading practice” for delivery in Telco industries.

  • The Senior Fintech Technical Lead shall be able to work in a “agile” team or in a “waterfall” team to deliver projects and system objectives.

  • The Senior Fintech Technical Lead shall demonstrate an effort to develop their own skills which helps their career by:
    • Making sure that they are going on as many courses a year and are reviewing their development with Line Management; and
    • That they are making use of any online training that the Company offers.
  • Demonstrating “self-motivation” by getting “on the job” skills which don’t always require course work.

Mission/ Core Purpose of the job

Reporting to the SM – Tax, the Manager – Tax & Transfer Pricing will be part of Bayobab’s tax team and will be responsible for the preparation, and maintenance of up-to-date tax and transfer pricing documents and policies for Bayobab Group. Key Performance Areas

The Manager – Tax & Transfer Pricing will be accountable to achieve the following objectives:

  • Understand Bayobab transfer pricing policy; develop the process for implementation; and ensure its proper implementation.

Strategic Alignment
• To oversee the alignment of Technology, EBU, Customer Experience and Consumer Business operational and the overall commercial strategy this includes operating systems, procedures and processes.
• To integrate and drive synergies on business streams and fostering alignment to MTN South Africa’s goals and governance requirements.

Business Management

Operational Delivery
• Oversee the consolidated business performance for Customer Experience, EBU, Technology and Consumer.
• Proactively identify opportunities to reinforce MTN SA performance in the regions
• Oversee and ensure compliance to legal and regulatory frameworks where applicable
• Ensure business operational improvement for Customer Experience, EBU, and Consumer
• To integrate technology landscapes across the different business streams
• Represent MTN SA at all regional key stakeholder meetings
• Manage shared services functions (e.g. Financial Management and Procurement) at a regional level and participate in their appraisal
• Drive MTN SA internal communication efforts in the region

Budgets
• Develop and Manage regional budgets in line with business objectives;
• Manage regional project initiatives within the allocated budget ; and
• Ensure that costs are managed efficiently.
Reporting
• Report on a monthly basis relating to progress made within the Region and in accordance with the measurement metrics set by the COO
• Highlight to management any significant deviations from defined performance metrics; and
• Provide regular feedback to the COO regarding all relevant cross-functional issues at regional level
• Report on an adhoc basis on specific projects, as required.
Client Experience
• Ensure delivery of exceptional client experience through appropriate financial integrity, accurate client reporting and timeous resolution of billing issues across the region
• Conduct regular CSAT surveys to monitor client satisfaction for the region
• Work closely with regional sales teams to provide premium service to our clients
• Real-time tracking of progress on outstanding regional client service incidents
• Ensure effective and efficient service escalation processes are in place regionally and central integration
• Be the overall regional custodian for customer engagement across the business
Supervisory / Leadership / Managerial Tasks: Refers to the responsibilities for directing, guiding, motivating and influencing others.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Mission/ Core purpose of the Job:
To manage the Mobile Financial Services commercial relationships with all third parties which includes the project management of the ECW/partner daily settlement files through Globalscape into the Money Map vendor reconciliation tool. The manager will be responsible for controlling the end-to-end settlement process, ECW configgurations and payments to third parties as well as revenue share agreement adherence and partner invoicing. All these duties are to be executed within budgetary constraints through continuous improvement and the coordination of available resources to best achieve organisational goals.

Task Complexity: 
Strategic input

•    Contribute, challenge and identifying ways to fine tune procedures and their application within MFS to align with the overall business strategy 
•    Analyse trends and highlight areas of the business that may be developed further, identifying opportunities and matching these to market opportunities
•    Influence decision making at operational level
•    Participate in the development of the first line operational management strategy to achieve operational efficiencies and while being cost effective
•    Offer input / judgments relevant to own technical expertise and experience

Revenue Share Agreement Management and Partner Invoicing 
•    Be aware and up to date with the MFS product & development Division Roadmap and proactively prepare for the financial accounting ofall transactions with MTN Finance and as per current policy
•    Play a big part in negotiating the best commercial offering for MTN with all third parties
•    Ensure best gross margin, free cash flow and longest duration possible for third party funds to remain in MoMo ecosystem
•    Engage with MFS Legal to ensure that all financial terms and conditions are captured accurately in the final supplier agreements with the best commercial terms for MTN MFS
•    End to end management of all financial terms in third party agreements leading to payment/invoices to third party (Account payable / accounts receivable)
•    Best effort to be made in 3PP negotiations to always retain funds and settle within MoMo ecosystem. Only if all else fail should MFS settle outside of MoMo by way of bank accounts outside of MoMo. 

Operational Processes

Reconciliation of accounts
•    Initial Chart of Accounts mapping project from ECW to MTN SA Financial system
•    Reconcile the Mobile Money Chart of Accounts (CoA) on daily, weekly monthly basis
•    Ensure daily reconciliation of Main Mobile Money Bank Trust accounts with Mobile Money e-money control account in ECW

Payments and e-cash management
•    Prepare cheque and Electronic Funds Transfer payments for authorization for timely payment of vendors. Vendors not on Mobile Money.
•    Daily e-money settlement with Mobile Money 3rd parties, in other words: Easypay bill payments
•    Daily e-money settlement with Mobile Money 3rd parties, in other words: International Remittance Partners
•    Reconcile e-cash, control and bank accounts to the General Ledger
•    Prepare journal input documentation for MTN SA Finance to process journals into the General Ledger
•    Compile balances and payments schedule (to assist in the management of e-money cash flow)
•    Sweep and transfer funds between Mobile Money revenue or fees accounts, commission accounts and control accounts

Process and Procedure Effectiveness
•    Improve methods of carrying out work through on-the-job concrete experience
•    Ensure that workflow continues without interruption

Reporting
•    Compile all information from MFS Group to compile regular reviews
•    Research and workshop of all drivers & assumptions (customer registration, transaction volume etc.)
•    Assist with Mobile Money Regulatory reporting
•    Manage SLA with all third parties 
•    Prepare relevant information and data for reporting purposes, e.g. KPI reports
•    Compile monthly third-party settlement reports and presentations
•    Compile and prepare reports without compromising quality and accuracy.
•    Ensure all reporting deadlines are met.

Third-Party Operations & Settlements
•    End to end project management of 3PP implementation, IS deployment and testing of settlement requirements
•    Ensure ECW (Erisccon) has configured the MoMo platform as per legal agreement with realtime automated revenue share as far as possible 
•    Ensure IS has included the settlement file requiements of both ECW and 3PP to be delivered daily to EVA via Globalscape
•    Ensure development of files have been performed and tested by the Money Map resources and toll so that daily transactional reconciliations can be performed by toll from day 1
•    Ensure that monthly reconciliation files are delivered by 3PP and ECW for calculating monthly revenue and cost for accounting purposes
•    Configure ECW and 3PP MoMo accounts for automated settlement into 3PP bank accounts
•    Ensure all FICA documentation of 3PP are stored safely for compliance and audit trial

Quality Management
•    Work consistently according to standards of accuracy, deadlines and formats
•    Identify processes and procedures where the quality of work may be improved
•    Understand the consequences of not maintaining quality focus and operate appropriately
•    Document quality standards
•    Ensure quality standards are implemented correctly. Report non-compliance

Customer Satisfaction / Customer Service

•    Contract management in line with Procurement Policies
•    Co-ordinate project reporting
•    Ensure effective implementation of the integrated project management model

•    Perform Business Analysis MTN SA Business Analysis in line with the methodology and guidelines
